but these types of stories need to be shared as well. we are inundated with far too much BAD news so i like to share good news as well, especially if it involves animal-human hybrids (well just animals in THIS case)

NEW YORK -- A once-stray cat from Brooklyn was used in an undercover operation that nabbed a phony vet.
The 8-month-old cat named Fred posed as a patient for police trapping a college student accused of treating pets without a license. A dog owner contacted authorities after his Boston terrier named Burt survived a botched operation.
The suspect made only house calls and treated animals at an undisclosed location.
He picked Fred up at an apartment rigged with a hidden camera. He was arrested as he left with Fred in a box and cash for an operation.
Cat and dog shared the spotlight at a news conference Wednesday. Fred wore a badge on his collar......
(note: there was a boston terrier named burt in this story. i have a COUSIN named burt who HAD a boston terrier. his name was benny though. i called him eggdu)

That 'vet''s name wasn't 'Brownie', was it?
well someone DID tell me the vet DID a heck of a job......
there are quacks in the animal medical world as well ...
i am animal-less right now. i have been lucky though in that i have always had a wonderful vet. i've not been so lucky with my hounds from hell (and the occasional felines from hell too). one of my dogs had epilepsy, one had kidney failure and one lost muscle control. it is never easy to lose them. they WERE part of my family. you would have loved jean-paul. he was named after the FIRST jean-paul pope because we thought he was going to die within 33 days. he didn't. jean-paul was a cat and so dog-like it was scary. he loved to hop in the car and go for rides. he loved to follow you on long walks. he would seek groups of children out. he LOVED peanut butter. i miss all of them.
