jessica is MORE than right

violence against women has nothing to do with ANYTHING other than the partner is insane (well those are MY words)

Posted by Jessica

It's not a "Facebook crime," it's domestic violence

I don't care if you call it domestic violence or intimate partner violence - but stop calling it a Facebook crime, or a MySpace murder. It has nothing to do with social networking and everything to do with violence against women.

Take this latest story from the BBC:

A man has been jailed for life for stabbing his wife to death over a posting she made on the social networking site Facebook.

Wayne Forrester, 34, told police he was devastated that his wife Emma, also 34, had changed her online profile to "single" days after he had moved out.

Forrester did not murder his wife because of her Facebook status, he murdered her because he was an abuser.

The couple, who had been together for 15 years, had a "volatile" marriage, jurors were told..............

this is JUST WRONG

Military Town Newspaper Challenges US Military on Murder of Military Women

by: Ann Wright, t r u t h o u t | Report
"In a way, it's surprising that there aren't more bodies piling up at military bases all over this nation" - The Fayetteville Observer

The October 14, 2008 editorial in the Fayetteville, NC Observer "Our View: Military Domestic Violence Needs More Aggressive Prevention," focused on the murder of four military women in North Carolina and contained a startling comment: "In a way, it's surprising that there aren't more bodies piling up at military bases all over this nation." The Observer is the newspaper that serves Fort Bragg, one of the military's largest bases.

The editorial was in response to the vigil held on October 8 at the gates of Fort Bragg to commemorate the murder of four US military women in North Carolina in the past nine months, and to call for action to prevent more murders by members of the US military.

In a nine-month period from December 2007 to September 2008, four US military women were killed by military men near the Army's Fort Bragg and the Marine Corps's Camp Lejeune, two military mega-bases in North Carolina.........

Alaska beluga whales put on endangered list

Gov. Sarah Palin opposed the move by the Bush administration. The National Marine Fisheries Service will extend federal protections to the 375 whales.
By Kenneth R. Weiss, Los Angeles Times Staff Writer
October 18, 2008
The Bush administration Friday designated a small, isolated population of beluga whales in Alaska's Cook Inlet as endangered, rejecting arguments from Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin that the small, white whales were on their way to recovery.

The National Marine Fisheries Service decided to extend federal protections to these whales near Anchorage after their numbers declined nearly 50% in the 1990s. The whales failed to rebound despite a decade-long program to revive the species.

"In spite of protections already in place, Cook Inlet beluga whales are not recovering," said James W. Balsiger, acting director of the National Marine Fisheries Service.

As a practical matter, the new protections mean that new offshore oil drilling, construction of a new bridge, and other industrial activities that involve federal dollars or oversight will have to be shown as harmless to the estimated 375 beluga whales remaining in local waters.

The decision came after Palin won a six-month postponement last year, arguing that she and state scientists believed the endangered status was "unwarranted" and that "we've actually seen the beginnings of an increase in their population."

On Friday, Palin released a statement saying: "The state of Alaska has had serious concerns about the low population of belugas in Cook Inlet for many years. However, we believe that this endangered listing is premature."........

Did Palin Really Describe Some Parts Of The Country As "Pro-America"?

By Greg Sargent -

Check out this little nugget buried in a report about a fundraiser Sarah Palin spoke at last night:

Palin also made a point of mentioning that she loved to visit the "pro-America" areas of the country, of which North Carolina is one. No word on which states she views as unpatriotic.
Context here is everything, of course. We're trying to get the full quote, and will keep you posted.

the above from talking points memo

how scary is that? what parts of america are NOT pro-america? the areas where 'the blacks' are perhaps?

ah, just found more.......at huffington

Palin Explains What Parts Of Country Not "Pro-America"

The McCain campaign is seeking to clarify a remark reported from a Sarah Palin fundraiser in North Carolina yesterday in which the Alaska Governor declared that she loved to visit the "pro-America" areas of the country -- implying, implicitly, that there were some parts of the United States she viewed as not pro-America.

The reporter who broke the story, the Washington Post's Juliet Eilperin, sends over the following, extended quote from a more detailed version of the pool report.

"We believe that the best of America is not all in Washington, D.C. We believe" -- here the audience interrupted Palin with applause and cheers -- "We believe that the best of America is in these small towns that we get to visit, and in these wonderful little pockets of what I call the real America, being here with all of you hard working very patriotic, um, very, um, pro-America areas of this great nation. This is where we find the kindness and the goodness and the courage of everyday Americans. Those who are running our factories and teaching our kids and growing our food and are fighting our wars for us. Those who are protecting us in uniform. Those who are protecting the virtues of freedom."..............

GOP group depicts Obama with watermelon, ribs

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (AP) — A San Bernardino County Republican group has distributed a newsletter picturing Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama on a $10 bill adorned with a watermelon, ribs and a bucket of fried chicken.

Linking Obama to demeaning racist stereotypes drew denunciations from various GOP officials after the illustration appeared in the October newsletter of the Chaffey Community Republican Women, Federated, the Riverside Press-Enterprise reported Thursday.

Diane Fedele, president of the group, said she had no racist intent.

"I never connected," she told the newspaper. "It was just food to me. It didn't mean anything else."

The Obama campaign declined to comment, saying it does not address such attacks.........

Inland GOP mailing depicts Obama's face on food stamp

By MICHELLE DeARMOND
The Press-Enterprise

The latest newsletter by an Inland Republican women's group depicts Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama surrounded by a watermelon, ribs and a bucket of fried chicken, prompting outrage in political circles.

The October newsletter by the Chaffey Community Republican Women, Federated says if Obama is elected his image will appear on food stamps -- instead of dollar bills like other presidents. The statement is followed by an illustration of "Obama Bucks" -- a phony $10 bill featuring Obama's face on a donkey's body, labeled "United States Food Stamps."

The GOP newsletter, which was sent to about 200 members and associates of the group by e-mail and regular mail last week, is drawing harsh criticism from members of the political group, elected leaders, party officials and others as racist..........

#3) when 'the blacks' finally do take over, what will they do to 'the whites'? will they treat them with equality or perish the thought, will they treat them like second class citizens?

#4) what will 'the blacks' do to other people of color who aren't exactly black? (you know the red ones, the yellow ones and the brown ones)?

#5) why do the obamas attend christian churches if they are part of islam?

#6) too bad brains cannot be grown in a jar
Al-Jazeera: Palin supporters fear 'blacks will take over'
David Edwards and Muriel Kane
Supporters of Sarah Palin attending a rally in St. Clairsville, OH on Sunday were not shy about displaying their racist attitudes and their ignorance about Barack Obama -- along with their very real fears and insecurities -- to al-Jazeera reporter Casey Kauffman.

One white-haired old lady said frankly to Kauffman, "I'm afraid if he wins, the blacks will take over." She then added more shrilly, "He's not a Christian! This is a Christian nation! What is our country going to end up like?"

Another woman stated, "Obama and his wife, I'm concerned that they could be anti-white, that he might hide that." A third suggested, "I don't like the fact that he thinks us white people are trash -- because we're not."

A young man holding a baby told Kauffman, "He seems like a sheep -- or a wolf in sheep's clothing -- to be honest with you. And I believe, Palin, she's filled with the holy spirit."........

7) i like barack obama BETTER

an editorial from the wapo

Barack Obama for President

THE NOMINATING process this year produced two unusually talented and qualified presidential candidates. There are few public figures we have respected more over the years than Sen. John McCain. Yet it is without ambivalence that we endorse Sen. Barack Obama for president.

The choice is made easy in part by Mr. McCain's disappointing campaign, above all his irresponsible selection of a running mate who is not ready to be president. It is made easy in larger part, though, because of our admiration for Mr. Obama and the impressive qualities he has shown during this long race. Yes, we have reservations and concerns, almost inevitably, given Mr. Obama's relatively brief experience in national politics. But we also have enormous hopes.

Mr. Obama is a man of supple intelligence, with a nuanced grasp of complex issues and evident skill at conciliation and consensus-building. At home, we believe, he would respond to the economic crisis with a healthy respect for markets tempered by justified dismay over rising inequality and an understanding of the need for focused regulation. ..........

Exclusive: Verizon and AT&T Provided Cell Towers for McCain Ranch

BY JAMES V. GRIMALDI
Washington Post Staff Writer

Early in 2007, just as her husband launched his presidential bid, Cindy McCain decided to resolve an old problem -- the lack of cellular telephone coverage on her remote 15-acre ranch near Sedona, nestled deep in a tree-lined canyon called Hidden Valley.

By the time Sen. John McCain's presidential bid was in full swing this summer, the ranch had wireless coverage from the two cellular companies most often used by campaign staff -- Verizon Wireless and AT&T.

Verizon delivered a portable tower know as a "cell site on wheels" -- free of charge -- to Cindy McCain's property in June in response to an online request from Cindy McCain's staff early last year. Such devices are usually reserved for restoring service when cell coverage is knocked out during emergencies, such as hurricanes...........In July, AT&T followed suit, wheeling in a portable tower for free to match Verizon's offer. "This is an unusual situation," said AT&T spokeswoman Claudia B. Jones. "You can't have a presidential nominee in an area where there is not cell coverage."..............

Rush Limbaugh Says Angry Blacks Are In 30 Year Plot To Train Black Children as Militants

As we are witnessing, the conservative movement is in shambles now and the only thing they can do is spew racist hatred out into the world and hope it sticks to their audience in droves. And how is the conservative right going to make sure race is all you can think of when you think of the name Obama?

How about by making the case that blacks in general are lazy, angry, and engaged in a 3 decades old plot to train black children as militants against the US? It's those scary black terrorists again. Don't think anyone would actually SAY that? Think again. Listen to it in Rush Limbaugh's own words. It's hard to cut out much of his racist diatribe so the full transcript will appear under the fold.

Limbaugh: We know that technological advancement is going along at light speed. And yet during this period of time, whether it be the last 57 years or be it the last 20 years, it seems that a majority of the black population has remained angry, frustrated, and behind. They've been left behind. They are acting like they've been left behind, and of course we've heard that this is because of racism, natural systemic institutional racism in America, that we are unfair, that this country is just horrible and rotten.

...The federal government became the father. The father didn't have to hang around in order for the kids to be okay, depending on how you define okay. But as you study more and more of this ACORN stuff, you find that it has been part of an entire movement that has been going on for two, maybe three decades, right under our noses..............

you know what i noticed from this video?

#1) there was no one screaming out kill (the competitor's name here). there were no nooses. there was no foaming at the mouth. there were no taunts about the other party

and

#2) instead of cutting across the homeowners lawn, barack obama asked the person he was with to walk with him ON THE SIDEWALK.

what does that tell me? barack obama cares - even about the little stuff. it may not be important to all, but it MAY be important to the homeowner!

in loving memory

of the boom economy

picture from marc at wooster collective

let's just say i used the same logic 'they' used

wouldn't that make mccain a terrorist? wouldn't he be classified as hanging out with terrorists? he hangs with someone who hangs with someone who hung with someone who hung with saddam. so, when barack obama was 8 years old, ayers was being his weather underground self. when barack obama got older, he sat on some committees with ayers and even attended an event ayers sponsored on his (barack's) behalf (a fund raiser i believe).

but mccain's head of his 'presidential transition team' hung with saddam. the man's name is william timmons. mccain hangs with timmons.

william ayers is alive and well and a professor at a university. saddam hussein has been executed with the help of the united states government. soooooooooooooooooooo, who hangs with terrorists and friends of terrorists really?

i'm confused here

Exposed: McCain's Presidential Transition Chief Aided Saddam Hussein

Posted by Murray Waas, Huffington Post

William Timmons, the Washington lobbyist who John McCain has named to head his presidential transition team, aided an influence effort on behalf of Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein to ease international sanctions against his regime.

The two lobbyists who Timmons worked closely with over a five year period on the lobbying campaign later either pleaded guilty to or were convicted of federal criminal charges that they had acted as unregistered agents of Saddam Hussein's government.

During the same period beginning in 1992, Timmons worked closely with the two lobbyists, Samir Vincent and Tongsun Park, on a previously unreported prospective deal with the Iraqis in which they hoped to be awarded a contract to purchase and resell Iraqi oil. Timmons, Vincent, and Park stood to share at least $45 million if the business deal went through.

Timmons' activities occurred in the years following the first Gulf War, when Washington considered Iraq to be a rogue enemy state and a sponsor of terrorism. His dealings on behalf of the deceased Iraqi leader stand in stark contrast to the views his current employer held at the time.

John McCain strongly supported the 1991 military action against Iraq, and as recently as Sunday described Saddam Hussein as a one-time menace to the region who had "stated categorically that he would acquire weapons of mass destruction, and he would use them wherever he could."

Timmons declined to comment for this story. An office manager who works for him said that he has made it his practice during his public career to never speak to the press. Timmons previously told investigators that he did not know that either Vincent or Park were acting as unregistered agents of Iraq. He also insisted that he did not fully understand just how closely the two men were tied to Saddam's regime while they collaborated...............

i of course read about this

and saw the videos. i was aghast as i am with many things that happen (especially on the unfair and very imbalanced faux 'news')

i didn't post about it then, but this is a pretty damn good take on the story.

no, it's not satire. the story is real. the video is real. yes, these people are fucking nuts. the country is bleeding to death and they're talking about an unflattering photo (and c'mon who HASN'T had an unflattering photo taken). what a bunch of stupid bio-tches

Judging Sarah Palin by the cover

With its outrage over Palin's unflattering Newsweek cover photo, Fox News proves that it creates its own reality

Sarah Churchwell

Last week, Newsweek ran a cover story on Sarah Palin with a close-up of Palin on its cover under the headline "She's one of the folks (and that's the problem)". Republican commentators were quick to protest, but their opposition took a novel turn: they objected not to the explicitly editorialising headline, but to what they argued was an implicitly editorialising photograph. Fox News's Megyn Kelly complained that it was "ridiculously unfair to her – not the headline, but the photograph".

The twist was that the photo had not been altered, which, Republican pundits like Andrea Tantaros claimed, was evidence of clear bias on the part of the magazine. "This cover is a clear slap in the face of Sarah Palin," she told Kelly. "Why? Because it's unretouched. It highlights every imperfection that every human being has. We're talking unwanted facial hair, pores, wrinkles." And why is a news magazine revealing normal human imperfection suddenly objectionable, rather than, you know, normal and human? Because, according to Tantaros, "unlike movie stars and liberal media types, regular 'folks' have other concerns besides tweezing, waxing, moisturising, exfoliating, detoxifying and pore tightening. We're busy."..............

i've not seen the video

nor will i. i will take the word of the written account. i wonder why the mothers and fathers and families and friends of our heroes cannot know the truth. if i was president i would NEVER STAND for that kind of treatment (then again, if i was president we would never be in iraq)

not much more to say other than to the friends and families of pfc suarez-gonzalez and pfc nelson, i am so very sorry for your loss

Friendly fire in Iraq -- and a coverup

The Army says no, but a graphic video and eyewitness testimony indicate that a U.S. tank killed two American soldiers. The mother of one soldier demands answers.

Editor's note: Mark Benjamin's friendly fire investigation contains 1) the main article, 2) video documentation and 3) the Army's own report on the killing of Nelson and Suarez.

By Mark Benjamin

Oct. 14, 2008 | PHILADELPHIA -- Once a cop, always a cop. Asked if she wanted to see a graphic battle video showing her son Albert bleeding to death, Jean Feggins, retired from the Philadelphia Police Department, said yes.

"Listen, I've moved dead bodies of people I don't even know," she told me, as she sat on a brown couch in the den of her West Philadelphia row house. "I need to know everything. Because he is not a stranger. That's my baby. That's my child."

When Pfc. Albert Nelson died in Iraq in 2006, the Army first told Feggins that he might have been killed by friendly fire, and then that it was enemy mortars. She says she never believed the Army's explanation. "I always felt like they were lying to me," she said. "I could never prove it."

"I would ask the casualty officer what was going on. I'd be told they are still working on the report," she said. "They were still doing their investigation. What could I do? It's the U.S. military. I had no control."............

if i've said it once,

i've said it a thousand times. WE DO NOT TORTURE. except of course when we DO torture. how can we NOT punish those responsible? how can we allow this to go, at the very LEAST, unchallanged? how can we sleep at night? (i can't)

CIA Tactics Endorsed In Secret Memos

Waterboarding Got White House Nod

Washington Post Staff Writer

The Bush administration issued a pair of secret memos to the CIA in 2003 and 2004 that explicitly endorsed the agency's use of interrogation techniques such as waterboarding against al-Qaeda suspects -- documents prompted by worries among intelligence officials about a possible backlash if details of the program became public.

The classified memos, which have not been previously disclosed, were requested by then-CIA Director George J. Tenet more than a year after the start of the secret interrogations, according to four administration and intelligence officials familiar with the documents. Although Justice Department lawyers, beginning in 2002, had signed off on the agency's interrogation methods, senior CIA officials were troubled that White House policymakers had never endorsed the program in writing..........

CBS sitcom takes stealthy swipe at Fox News
Nick Juliano
Sitcom producer Chuck Lorre has developed a cult following for the lengthy diatribes he includes at the end of his shows. The "vanity cards," which are too long to read during the two seconds they air following CBS sitcoms "Two and a Half Men" and "Big Bang Theory" serve as mini-journal entries for Lorre, who has taken pot-shots at other media outlets and even his own network executives.

A card that aired after "Big Bang Theory" Monday night takes a none-too-subtle dig at Fox News, comparing it to a state-run propaganda outlet charged with repeating lies until they become truth............

CHUCK LORRE PRODUCTIONS, #221

We have once again arrived at a moment in history where the truth can be defined as "that which you can make other people believe." The methodology for creating that belief is repetition. Say something enough times and it becomes, for millions of people, the truth. I am endowed like a stallion. This is why control of the media equals control of the populace. I am endowed like a stallion. And also why a state run television news channel is so very dangerous. I am endowed like a stallion. Now there are those who would argue this has already happened and that a certain cable news channel is actually a covert extension of our government. I am endowed like a stallion. The fact that the channel is run by a high-ranking party official, an anchor person from the channel became a White House spokesman, and another top-ranking party official became an on-air news commentator is often used to make this argument. I am endowed like a stallion. Of course, this fact would be entirely inconsequential if the oft-repeated falsehoods they attempt to imbed into the Zeitgeist were simply amusing, or at worst, inane. I am endowed like a stallion. But, unfortunately, that is not the case. I am endowed like a stallion. The heavy repetition of lies and smears for political gain are by no means inconsequential. I am endowed like a stallion. Which is why each and every one of us must use whatever resources we have at our disposal to disseminate the actual truth. I am endowed like a pony.

Paul Krugman Wins Economics Nobel

By Catherine Rampell

Paul Krugman, a professor at Princeton University and an Op-Ed page columnist for The New York Times, was awarded the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences on Monday.

“It’s been an extremely weird day, but weird in a positive way,” Mr. Krugman said in an interview on his way to a Washington meeting for the Group of 30, an international body from the public and private sectors that discusses international economics. He said he was mostly “preoccupied with the hassles” of trying to make all his scheduled meetings today and answer a constantly ringing cell phone.

Mr. Krugman received the award for his work on international trade and economic geography. In particular, the prize committee lauded his work for “having shown the effects of economies of scale on trade patterns and on the location of economic activity.” ...........

of course i especially like the fact he's a critic of king george (easy way to win my heart)
Bush critic Krugman wins Nobel Economics Prize
Agence France-Presse
by Nina Larson

STOCKHOLM (AFP) - US economist Paul Krugman, a fierce critic of President George W. Bush's handling of the global financial crisis, on Monday won the 2008 Nobel Economics Prize.

The 55-year-old Princeton University professor, and a New York Times columnist, has worked intensely on the impact of free trade and globalisation, as well as the driving forces behind urbanisation, the Nobel citation said.

The financial turmoil, which has sent shares crashing, has cast a shadow over this year's prize and after his triumph, Krugman said he was "extremely terrified" by the crisis, Sweden's TT news agency reported...........

a thought or two-actually a real raving in this case

my friend cv rick sent me a very disturbing email. he warned me and said he was torn about sending it (i'm NOT linking to it nor am i going to post it). i told rick he did the right thing by sending it and at the moment, i had nothing to say (because i felt like my soul was being stabbed a million times). the image involved barack obama and a noose and ugly words and thoughts. (cv rick has an amazing blog. in his rather young life, he's lived things the rest of us have only dreamed. plus he writes a DAMN FINE STORY - both fiction and non-fiction. he's not been updating his blog of late, but i hope that changes soon. please go visit him and read some of his older postings and the serializations of some of his (true) tales. it will be worth it and you'll thank me)

i also saw another incredibly disturbing image on
roschelle's blog - sagacious rambling

that one wasn't as violent but it had potential (to be)

i know the people who are responsible for the ugly words and the ugly images are beyond clueless. they have NO idea what they're doing is just plain WRONG. it's WRONG. that seems too easy, but that's it. simply WRONG.

these are the SAME kinds of people who think it's funny to let's say, talk about rape and hurting women. the same kind of person who talks about hanging a man because of the color of his skin can and does write articles like the one i talked about
here (i'm not talking about JUST men either. women can have evil ugly souls and speak evil ugly words and have evil ugly thoughts too)

THEY DON'T GET IT. rape is just about as funny as hanging a black man is. i don't care if you don't like barack obama or not. BUT DISLIKE HIM BECAUSE OF HIS POLITICS NOT THE COLOR OF HIS SKIN.

they are not only NOT ashamed of their actions and words and images THEY ARE PROUD OF THEM. they do NOT understand how hurtful they are. they don't CARE to understand.

why are they so consumed with fear?

(and, not only don't they think they are doing wrong, BUT THEY TURN AROUND AND CONTINUE TO ACCUSE OBAMA OF THINGS HE NEVER DID OR NEVER WAS OR NEVER WILL BE)

Palin mistakes fans for protesters at Va. rally

By BOB LEWIS

this short article in

the wapo sums it up rather nicely. read it (the whole thing, not just my excerpt), it won't take but a moment

in the realm of things, troopergate is minor. there are other crimes government officials commit (crimes against humanity, murder, torture for a few). however, this shows how a newly elected official abused her power almost immediately. sure it's a baby step, but what next?

IF she's elected (that is NOT going to happen), is she going to toss my big fat ass in solitary because i have harsh words toward her?

Alaska's Family Feud

Meddlesome Sarah Palin does not come off well.

IN THE scheme of things -- that is to say, in the larger context of a financial meltdown -- the special counsel's report concluding that Sarah Palin engaged in an unethical abuse of power in trying to have her former brother-in-law fired as an Alaska state trooper is a relatively minor event. But the report nonetheless offers a revealing and relevant portrait of the governor. It shows her and her husband pursuing a personal vendetta against the trooper, Mike Wooten, despite repeated warnings that they were impermissibly intruding into internal -- and already concluded -- disciplinary issues...........

..................Ms. Palin's refusal to cooperate with investigator Stephen Branchflower reflects poorly on her. So, too, does Ms. Palin's mischaracterization of the report as finding that there was "no unlawful or unethical activity on my part" and "no abuse of authority at all in trying to get Officer Wooten fired." In fact, Mr. Branchflower concluded that Ms. Palin "knowingly permitted a situation to continue where impermissible pressure was placed on several subordinates in order to advance a personal agenda, to wit: to get Trooper Michael Wooten fired." It's unfortunate that Ms. Palin does not understand -- or chooses not to acknowledge -- the seriousness of the mess she helped create..............

i don't normally post stories on porn

although i was - don't know if i still am because it will take a LOT out of my soul to write what i was planning - to write about the max hardcore case (ok to click on the max link. it's just to his wiki entry NOT to his porn site)

i did have to post the following though. i'm not making judgements on porno here. that's for another day, another time. i thought faux 'news' (note larry ALSO calls it faux) take on it was quite amusing AND prurient too. they spend an awful lot of time on it don't they?

Fox concludes Larry Flynt's 'Palin porno' is legal
David Edwards and Muriel Kane
Published: Monday October 13, 2008
Publisher Larry Flynt has announced that Hustler is releasing a porn film featuring a Sarah Palin lookalike and a tank full of stranded Russian soldiers.

Fox's Megyn Kelly was immediately sure that "your average American -- it's offensive, it's disgusting it's dirty -- they wouldn't want to see it." But her real question was, "Is this whole thing actually legal?"

In a consideration of that question on Monday, Kelly turned first to defense attorney David Wohl, who suggested that, although Palin would be best advised to ignore the film, she might "seek a preliminary injunction at least preventing its release before the election."........

........."Might there be some actual confusion to the non-educated mind out there?" asked Kelly -- who is apparently well-familiar with the Fox audience -- of legal analyst Mercedes Colwin.

"That's certainly a tremendous stretch," Colwin replied. "There's absolutely no confusion here. It is definitely parody like David said. It is protected by First Amendment."

"It even pokes fun at our network," Colwin continued. "It's called 'Faux News.' And actually Bill O'Reilly stars in it as well."

THIS is outrageous

mccain is outraged that someone has the nerve to speak THE TRUTH? that people (not ALL people, not even LOADS of people, but ENOUGH people to make me sick inside) have the 'n' word on the tips of their tongues and dream not of sugarplums but of nooses (oh yes i mean what i'm saying. all that's missing on some of these ....i don't even have words to describe them..... heaping piles o' shite are the white sheets

GOP Head Compares Obama to Bin Laden

Va. Party Leader Criticized, Including By McCain Team

Washington Post Staff Writer

RICHMOND -- The chairman of the Virginia Republican Party has compared Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama to Osama bin Laden because of the Illinois senator's past association with Bill Ayers, who has confessed to domestic bombings as a member of the Vietnam War-era Weather Underground.

Virginia Democrats, and some Republicans, are outraged, saying these are the latest in a series of inflammatory statements that the GOP has made against Obama in Virginia, a state that has emerged as a crucial battleground in the election.

According to a report in this week's Time magazine, the Virginia party chairman, Del. Jeffrey M. Frederick (R-Prince William), told Virginia volunteers working for GOP nominee John McCain that Obama and bin Laden "both have friends that bombed the Pentagon.".......

McCain calls Lewis remarks 'outrageous'

(CNN) -- Sen. John McCain said Monday that Rep. John Lewis' controversial remarks were "so disturbing" that they "stopped me in my tracks."

Lewis, a Georgia representative and veteran of the civil rights movement, on Saturday compared the feeling at recent Republican rallies to those of segregationist George Wallace.

"That's not from some, quote, party official, that's from one of the most respected people in America. It's unfair. It's unfair and it's outrageous," he said in an exclusive interview with CNN's Dana Bash.

"I never believed that John Lewis, who is an American hero whom I admire, would ever make a comment of that nature. He even referred to the bombing of a church in Birmingham. That's unacceptable," he said.

Lewis on Saturday said in a statement that McCain and Gov. Sarah Palin "are sowing the seeds of hatred and division.".........

Palin Makes Troopergate Assertions that Are Flatly False

Power, pop, and probings from ABC News Senior National Correspondent Jake Tapper

On Saturday, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin twice spoke to reporters about the so-called "Troopergate" scandal and the investigative report on whether she had abused her power in trying to get her sister's ex-husband Mike Wooten fired as a state trooper, and for firing Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan one year after she, her staffers, and her husband Todd began unsuccessfully pressuring Monegan to let Wooten go.

Palin spoke on the phone with Alaska reporters about the report. The McCain-Palin campaign only allowed one question per reporter. The journalists came from the Anchorage Daily News, KTVA-Channel 11 and KTUU-Channel 2. No follow-ups were allowed.

The call can be heard HERE.

"Well, I’m very very pleased to be cleared of any legal wrongdoing," Palin said, "any hint of any kind of unethical activity there. Very pleased to be cleared of any of that."

That's just not the case..............

McCain helped businessman buy Fort Ord land for a fraction of its market value

JULIA REYNOLDS - MediaNews

MONTEREY -- An Arizona businessman, with help from Sen. John McCain's office, paid the federal government a mere fraction of the market value when he bought a Fort Ord land parcel in 1999, an Army appraisal obtained by The Monterey Herald shows.

Donald R. Diamond, an 80-year-old real estate developer, lobbyist and top fundraiser for McCain's presidential campaign, bought the land for $250,000, though it was valued at $7.2 million, according to Pentagon appraisals made three years before the sale.

He held on to the parcel for a little more than two years before selling it and the buildings on it for an estimated profit of more than $18 million.

When negotiating with the Army over the no-bid sale, Diamond had more than one advantage on other potential buyers. He held a lease on the land that would have made it difficult for the Army to find another buyer. When Rep. Sam Farr, D-Carmel, later criticized the Army for "giving away" Fort Ord land during the 1990s, Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army Paul "PJ" Johnson said, "That was a very complicated realignment and closure at Ford Ord." Johnson retired later that month.

But it was McCain's office, as reported earlier this year by The New York Times and The Monterey Herald, that Diamond credited with helping smooth out problems he encountered. At the time, McCain served on the Senate Armed Services Committee.......

.......

Diamond, however, is no ordinary constituent. Besides being a leading developer in McCain's home state, he is a pro-Israel lobbyist in Washington, D.C., and is among the elite "innovators" group whose members have individually raised $500,000 or more for McCain's presidential bid, according to the candidate's campaign Web site.

Diamond also served as national finance co-chairman for McCain's presidential exploratory committee, and in court documents he describes himself as a longtime friend of the Republican senator..................

Supermarket Tab 'Weekly World News,' Home Of Bat Boy, Sold To -- Bat Boy
By Mark Fitzgerald
CHICAGO A New York investors group calling itself Bat Boy LLC has bought the one-time supermarket tabloid Weekly World News from American Media Operations Inc., it was announced over the weekend. Weekly World News, which on its online version refers to itself as "The World's Only Reliable News," has for nearly three decades spun out tales of alien invasions, fantastic archeological discoveries, and, most memorably, of Bat Boy, a half-human, half-bat creature found in a cave back in 1992. The new CEO of Weekly World News, Neil McGiness, referred indirectly to Bat Boy, which inspired a Broadway play, in the statement announcing the sale. "The Weekly World News is a powerful brand in publishing, entertainment and online," he said. "The Weekly World News brand and its characters have inspired musicals, books, feature film projects and television shows over the years. We see tremendous potential for growing the brand and significantly expanding the business."...........

The Man Behind the Whispers About Obama

By JIM RUTENBERG
The most persistent falsehood about Senator Barack Obama’s background first hit in 2004 just two weeks after the Democratic convention speech that helped set him on the path to his presidential candidacy: “Obama is a Muslim who has concealed his religion.”

That statement, contained in a press release, spun a complex tale about the ancestry of Mr. Obama, who is Christian.

The press release was picked up by a conservative Web site, FreeRepublic.com, and spread steadily as others elaborated on its claims over the years in e-mail messages, Web sites and books. It continues to drive other false rumors about Mr. Obama’s background.

Just last Friday, a woman told Senator John McCain at a town-hall-style meeting, “I have read about him,” and “he’s an Arab.” Mr. McCain corrected her.

Until this month, the man who is widely credited with starting the cyberwhisper campaign that still dogs Mr. Obama was a secondary character in news reports, with deep explorations of his background largely confined to liberal blogs.............

But an appearance in a documentary-style program on the Fox News Channel watched by three million people last week thrust the man, Andy Martin, and his past into the foreground. The program allowed Mr. Martin to assert falsely and without challenge that Mr. Obama had once trained to overthrow the government..............

if i owned a parking lot

NC Parking lot bans Obama supporters
David Edwards and Andrew McLemore
If your fender says Change, don't park here.

A parking lot owner in Gibsonville, NC, decided supporters of Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama are no longer welcome to use his property, WFMY's Julia Bagg reported.

Lot owner Tim Henderson posted two identical signs that warned: 'no parking' for Obama supporters or people with Obama bumper stickers."

"I don't expect to go after anybody with a baseball bat," Henderson said. "I would grin at them and laugh and ask them if they could read English."

State workers who have used the parking lot for years complained that the new rule infringed on their rights. Some had Obama/Biden stickers in their windows.

"It's telling me because I have a sticker or I believe in something, I'm not allowed to park here and this is where I park for work, I have to park here," said Dave Dicke, an Obama supporter..............
