ANOTHER shocking headline (NOT)

Tea partiers push to remove criticisms of Founding Fathers from textbooks

but here's where i AGREE with 'em, they say ..Roughly two-dozen tea partyers demanded that their state lawmakers modify textbook standards to "compel the teaching of students in Tennessee the truth regarding the history of our nation and the nature of its government,".............

and i say HELL yeah! they (this ENTIRE nation) would be in for one hell of a wake up if indeed ALL of our textbooks taught the WHOLE truth about the 'founding' of this nation (hint: WE STOLE IT, WE KILLED FOR IT, WE KEPT OTHER HUMAN BEINGS AS SLAVES and that's not the half of it). yeah, teach our kids THE TRUTH PLEASE. I AGREE

can you say genocide?

President Barack Obama's poise pins Sarah Palin as political pariah
Catherine Philp
THE day that dawned with Sarah Palin's shrill pitch to be counted among Tucson's victims ended with Barack Obama's stirring call to honour the fallen.
Few days have underlined so clearly the contrast between a President and his pretender. By breaking her silence on Thursday, the day Mr Obama addressed the grieving people of Tucson, Ms Palin sought to write herself into his storyline. But did she do so in such a way as to harm her political prospects forever?
Mr Obama spoke movingly of reconciliation, not blame, of America as a family that should speak among itself "in a way that heals, not a way that wounds".
Ms Palin spoke angrily of blame and "blood libel", defending the perpetuation of angry rhetoric even after the tragedy in Tucson.,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

If those drugs are possibly being given to women who have had abortions. A nurse practitioner at an Idaho Planned Parenthood called a local Walgreen’s pharmacy to fill a prescription for Methergine, a medicine used to prevent or control bleeding of the uterus following childbirth or an abortion. The pharmacists refused to fill the prescription unless the nurse told her whether or not the patient had an abortion. Because of patient confidentiality laws, the nurse refused to disclose that information, and asked for a referral to another pharmacy. The pharmacist hung up. ...............

NAMPA — Planned Parenthood of the Great Northwest has filed a letter of complaint with the Idaho Board of Pharmacy regarding the actions of a Nampa pharmacist.
Idaho Board of Pharmacy Executive Director Mark Johnston confirmed that the board received the complaint alleging that on Nov. 6 a Walgreens pharmacist refused to fill a prescription ordered by one of Planned Parenthood's Boise-based nurse practitioners. The prescription was for a Planned Parenthood patient for Methergine, a medicine used to prevent or control bleeding of the uterus following childbirth or an abortion.

more vile creatureage

So not that I should be surprised that Andrew Breitbart would liken criticism to rape…

by Jill

But seriously?
Sarah Palin is being criticized for using the term “blood libel” in a statement casting herself and fellow conservatives as victims of the Arizona shootings, because liberals are mean when they say that violent rhetoric can beget violence. Andrew Breitbart apparently decided to respond, tweeting:
I used ‘blood libel’ because I thought using analogy of lefties at pinball machine in Jodie Foster film ‘The Accused’ was too obscure....................................

Contractor Hid in Iraq for Seven Years Over US Rape Charge

By Adam Weinstein|

The excellent contracting watchdog, Ms. Sparky, drew my attention to this developing story: A Norfolk, Virginia, man was arrested on a military base in Iraq and brought back to the States in police custody this weekend for allegedly raping a "juvenile female," then hiding out in the Middle Eastern nation as a contractor for the US government.
For seven years.
Norfolk police say Daniel Phillips, 46, was wanted in connection for the rape of an underage girl in 2004 and 2005, but when warrants were issued for his arrest, he secured employment as a military contractor in a computer-related position and left for Iraq, where he stayed until authorities started tracking him in December..............

Blood libel: A historical view

........

"It was based on an ignorance and fear of Jewish rituals on the part of Christians and also the Christian fixation on blood," he says. Most often, it would be the blood of a child; thus, the idea often surfaced after the murder or abduction of a child.
The myth came up in different places, including Christian theological writings, folk tales and legends. From time to time, accusations would be made against Jews after specific incidents, and trials would be held. Sometimes they ended with executions. Sometimes the accused Jew would be tortured into confessing.................

Palin's use of 'blood libel' and Reagan comment in statement on Tucson shooting

..........The term "blood libel" has a very distinct history. It refers to the false accusation, dating back centuries, that Jews would sacrifice Christian children for various nefarious or even religious purposes -- such as using their blood as an ingredient in the unleavened bread in Passover ceremonies. It was a core tenet of anti-Semitism, widely believed in medieval times and beyond, and often resulted in persecution, murders and other actions against Jews.............

Glenn Beck denounces those who seek to "reconstruct" our "system"

One host's response to the shootings: A comforting e-mail to Sarah Palin and thinly veiled attacks on liberals

By Alex Pareene

Glenn Beck, classy as always, has released an open letter to... everyone, basically, in response to the shooting of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and 20 others in Tucson, Arizona. The basic gist is: Don't look at me! The subtext is: Look at liberals.
This wasn't his first response to the tragedy. Earlier today, Beck read the very serious e-mail he wrote to one of the victims. I refer, of course, to Sarah Palin, who has been relentlessly attacked by people armed with criticism of her words and actions. Beck told her to stay strong, and be careful:...........

this is the sort of person gabrielle giffords appears to be:

one not only with a mind but WITH AN ACTUAL SOUL TOO. those fuck-wads wouldn't know one if it hit 'em in the shin (i'm trying not to project violent images. not that i ever did. i have always believed one should NEVER wish harm upon another. no matter how much you dislike them or their beliefs).  instead of spewing violence and hate and not even trying to understand the 'other' side, it appears ms giffords WAS trying. WAS understanding. WAS accepting

Giffords promoted softer political discourse in email to GOP colleague day before shooting
By Nathan Diebenow

Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ) on the eve of the shooting that left her in critical condition and six others dead wrote an email to a Republican colleague promoting a softer public political discourse.
"After you get settled, I would love to talk about what we can do to promote centrism and moderation," Giffords wrote to Trey Grayson, Kentucky Secretary of State who resigned to take a position as director of the Institute of Politics at Harvard University.
She continued: "I am one of only 12 Dems left in a GOP district (the only woman) and think that we need to figure out how to tone our rhetoric and partisanship down.".............

as you all may have read of late: women's tears turn dudes off

well, those are NOT my words. i personally think it takes a LOT more than tears to turn a dude off when he's in the ON position. ahhhhhhhhhhh, i digress. i didn't link to any of those stories because as you can probably guess i think it's a lot of malarkey and hooey. i HAD to link to this one though!

Why do women cry? Obviously, it's so they don't get laid.

I don't think Brian Alexander is a bad guy or a misogynist. He writes the Sexploration column for MSNBC, so sure, his job is all about selling sex stories to the public. He even wrote a book about American sexuality. But I don't personally think he has a burning hatred for women, or views them as objects placed on this Earth for the sexual satisfaction of men. However, I very easily could, given how he chose to report on a recent study published in Science about men's physiological responses to the chemicals present in women's tears. ................

Mr Kurtz, He Dead Wrong

................The facts, moreover, are these: Palin singles out Giffords as a "target" for attack, illustrated by cross-hairs in gun sights, and urges supporters to "reload". This is pointed out at the time and Giffords herself worries that it took things over the edge. Palin had a chance to apologize or retract or soften the rhetoric. She did nothing of the kind...................

sadly, even democrats are responsible for us losing our civil rights and liberties

but republicans, EVEN MORE SO

Republicans banish ‘civil rights’ and ‘civil liberties’ from House subcommittee

By Eric W. Dolan

Congressman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) blasted Republicans for planning to change the name of the Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights, and Civil Liberties to the "Constitution Subcommittee."
"Once again, the new Republican majority has shown that it isn't quite as committed to the Constitution as its recent lofty rhetoric would indicate," Rep. Nadler, who has served as the Chairman of the Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights, and Civil Liberties since 2007, said.
"It has yet again shown its contempt for key portions of the document – the areas of civil rights and civil liberties – by banishing those words from the title of the Constitution Subcommittee."..........

this is pretty damn impressive (and true) and important for ALL of us to watch

Library of Congress Gets a Mile of Music

The Library of Congress has begun taking possession of a huge donation of recordings, some 200,000 metal, glass and lacquer master discs from the period 1926 to 1948 that have been languishing in the subterranean vaults of Universal Music Group, the largest music conglomerate in the United States. The bequest, which is to be formally announced on Monday, contains music representing every major genre of American popular song of that era — jazz, blues, country and the smooth pop of the pre-rock-’n’-roll period — as well as some light classical and spoken-word selections. One historic highlight is the master recording of Bing Crosby’s 1947 version of “White Christmas,” which according to Guinness World Records is the best-selling single of all time................

It Doesn’t Matter Why He Did It

Judging from his Internet postings, Jared Lee Loughner is a delusional young man whose inner political landscape is a swamp of dystopian novels, left- and right-wing tracts, conspiracy theories, and contempt for his fellow human beings. He refers to the gold and silver standard; that doesn't make Ron Paul responsible for the shootings. He is fond of “Animal Farm”; George Orwell didn't guide the hand that pulled the automatic pistol's trigger. Marx and Hitler produced a lot of corpses, but not the ones in Tucson................
