i heard this on the way home from work the other day

terry gross interviewing les paul on

fresh air

i really didn't realize how ill and how much pain he was in. i didn't know he continued to play (at clubs) YEARS after he couldn't move his fingers due to arthritis (although that didn't stop him)

wow, just give a listen at the link above. for those that prefer NOT to listen, there is also a transcript

I know I am in incredible pain everyday. But there is something about a relationship with pain. It can make you more determined than ever to do what you want to accomplish in life if you are driven to do so. You wont let the enemy win, take from you what is yours. Pain can do that. Pain is humiliating, exhausting and infuriating. But it can make you turn out some of your best work.
I get him, I really do. And I respect him for what he did. Which is why I said what did in the post below. He did it right...he used it all up and wasted none of it till he was called home. Bless him for just doing that.

Hmmmm, captch is blessid. Funny, huh?
