while i was reading the previous story (i posted)

in huffpo, i glanced over to the right sidebar and saw the following story by toan lam (go inspire go. it moved me and i sure hope it moves you as well.

this is what a REAL hero is all about. selfless acts. acts of courage. acts from the heart. acts of actual sharing.

it's not about thinking you're better than someone else. it's not about dictating what someone should or shouldn't believe.

it's about C A R I N G

i've always felt it's important to volunteer. if you have an hour or two a week, as a human being sharing this planet, it's our DUTY to make it better in some small way.

please read the story about jorge munoz. it's not too long. it won't take up too much of your time. i promise

An Angel In Queens, New York: School Bus Driver Responsible For 70,000 Hot Meals And Counting...(Video)

I am humbled.

I met a real life Angel recently. His name is Jorge Munoz and he lives in Queens, New York.

This is not just a story about a man who has spent the last few years tirelessly cooking, packing and giving free, hot meals to hungry people every day under a subway stop--some 70,000 in total.

It's a lesson about compassion for people and humanity. It's also about how one 46 year-old school bus driver, was moved to take action in a selfless and big way. Munoz says he found his passion and path in service after choosing to stop turning his cheek to a growing problem, so prevalent in his neighborhood, and so many other communities across America...........

Awesome story. I can really relate to him.

Having been a founding parent of a now thriving state wide non profit that advocates and provides supports and mentoring directly to families dealing with autism; I have come to the conclusion that some of us who are crazy enough to breathe, eat and sleep this in an obsessive manner are hard wired to be this way. We are driven, passionate and cannot stop if we tried. That is why usually when you see folks like this angel, it is either all or none.

But you are right, if every one would just give a few hours of their time each week, it is amazing what can be accomplished. It is just hard to find volunteer jobs that only require someone for a few hours. When I am looking for volunteers, I am usually looking for someone I can train and invest some time in and rely on with some regularity. Finding something light and easy to do for just an hour or so here and there is actually a lot harder to do than a more permanent position with training and skills. At least where I am at, that is the situation the majority of the time.
