Russian subs caught patrolling off East Coast

Two Russian nuclear submarines have been detected by the US military in recent days, patrolling as close as 200 miles off the East Coast of the United States, according to officials who spoke to the New York Times.

Norman Polmar, a naval historian with expertise in submarine warfare, is quoted as saying, “I don’t think they’ve put two first-line nuclear subs off the U.S. coast in about 15 years.”

The submarines' detection has not been previously announced.........
