this dude really is something else. really he is.
here is your wednesday morning humor:
Gingrich Begins A Twitter Feed In Spanish, ‘The Language Of Living In A Ghetto’
Former Republican House Speaker Newt Gingrich is notorious for his active — and sometimes controversial — musings on Twitter. But not only does he have a Twitter feed in English, but he has also started one in Spanish. He posted his first tweet in Spanish at 1:08 pm on July 9, noting that he would be on Neil Cavuto’s Fox show at 4:05 to discuss Pelosi’s $16 million “mouse” project. He also asked his readers what he should say about the subject. While some of his tweets on the Spanish-language feed are the same as on the English version, others are original content.
More importantly, why would Gingrich even want a Spanish-language Twitter feed? He has fiercely opposed bilingual education, even going so as far to call Spanish “the language of living in a ghetto“:
The American people believe English should be the official language of the government. … We should replace bilingual education with immersion in English so people learn the common language of the country and they learn the language of prosperity, not the language of living in a ghetto.............

desperate and pitiful is all I can come up with.
and a giant f**kwad
My coworkers liked to do the English only spiel, until they realized that it makes me recite Beowulf. Now they wait until I am out of the room.
Anyway, prosperity is polyglot. That's why English is the way it is now. Duh.
And let me be clear: bilingual education helps students more than just shoving them into the deep end of English immersion and hoping they get algebra by magic or osmosys. But where the problem is greatest is for people who are past school age. How about allocating some money for more adult ESL classes, Newt, because the wait list for that 'round these parts is about 2000 people long.
And can I just point out, vis a vis my previous statement, that the English Only knuckle-draggers in my office have never bothered to learn another language, and were never required to do so, so they have NO IDEA what that entails.
f**kwads indeed.
i try NOT to get into any discussions regarding this sort of thing in the office. i tend to get VERY loud (i'm a passionate person and i just can't keep it in check). of course it doesn't always work. sometimes one has to discuss such things in the office
a friend and i used to get into it with our boss (we both like him too by the way) EVERY morning during the presidential race. all three of us get in very early and it was rather empty in the building. therefore me getting 'passionate' wasn't too much of an issue. my friend of course always kept her cool
we were surrounded by sarevil lovers. that was quite difficult to deal with.
