it worked for me monday and even tuesday

MORNING. however, when i checked my email (and i was able to access it), i had not gotten any emails after about noon (tuesday). a couple did sneak through later in the evening so i guess it's up and running again. i DO know my personal account was hacked last week. a bot just stole my address book and sent everyone in it emails about tv's or iphones or some such crap. these aren't the good ol' days any more. we depend far too much on technology

Gmail Outage Appears to Be Fixed
Washington Post Staff Writer

Many users of Google's free e-mail service were stranded Tuesday afternoon when they logged on to find the service no longer working.

According to research firm ComScore, the Gmail service, launched in 2004, has nearly 146 million users worldwide -- so when Google admits that an issue with the service is affecting "a majority of users," that's a not-insignificant portion of Web users.

By Tuesday evening, the search engine company appeared to have fixed the problem as users of communications services like Twitter reported that they were able to access their e-mail again. Google's own site, however, reported that the e-mail service was still undergoing a "disruption.".......

doesn't the threat of gun violence

trump the second amendment? this has NOTHING to do with health care and we all know it. it has to do with the fear of a black president. the townfolk (they ARE simple remember) are really not at fault (again, they have NO minds of their own). they are being riled up and provoked by the good ol' boy network. they're telling lies and demanding violence. what sort of country are we turning into? it was ok for king george and his band of merry pranksters to bring us into an illegal, unjust and immoral war. it was ok for them to let people suffer and/or die in THIS country (katrina for one). it was ok for them to fund abstinance only education when that does NOTHING for anyone. IT HAS BEEN PROVEN NOT TO WORK. it was ok for them to toss money everywhere but in the pockets of their own citizens (the regular ones that is. you and i). it was ok for us to be lied to (weapons of mass destruction, NO GLOBAL WARMING, "intelligent" design). where were these protesters then? our country was put in a downward spiral with little chance of recovery. no. they are blaming it ALL on a black man but they are too afraid to say it

Health care opponent calls for town hall violence via Twitter

By Muriel Kane
Update: SEIU gets phone call “threatening to teach union officials a thing or two about ‘the Second Amendment’”

Brian Beutler reported at Talking Points Memo on Friday that a health care protester in New Mexico had been encouraging those following him on Twitter to bring their guns to town hall meetings — and use them if provoked.

“If ACORN/SEIU attends these meetings for disruptive purposes, and you have a license to carry….carry,” Scott Oskay wrote in one tweet. In another, he suggested, “Stop being peaceful, and hurt them. Badly.”

The Service Employees Industrial Union (SEIU) appears the to be latest boogeymen for the anti-health care protesters. Conservative blogger Michelle Malkin, for example, claimed on Friday that “SEIU thugs rolled up their sleeves and attacked a black conservative protester in St. Louis.”...

uh oh is

Online Attack Silences Twitter for Much of Day
By JENNA WORTHAM
Twitter, the popular microblogging site, was out of service much of the day Thursday as it worked to defend itself against a Web attack, but service appeared to have been restored by late evening.

Many of Twitter’s 45 million legitimate visitors were unable to use the service for hours. Analysts characterized the disruption as a denial-of-service attack, in which hackers overwhelm a Web site by sending it a deluge of junk requests, and one suggested the attack might have originated in Russia or Georgia.

Facebook and Google fended off similar attacks on Thursday.

Most computer security analysts did not cite a specific source of the attack on Twitter.........

UPDATED: Rounding up the buzz... Will one Chicago woman's Tweet cost her $50,000?
Marian Wang

Who knew less than 140 characters could potentially cost more than $50,000, in the form of a defamation lawsuit?

That's something Amanda Bonnen is discovering the hard way.

In May, the Chicago resident did what many of Twitter's millions of users do--she tweeted a complaint. Specifically, she tweeted THIS complaint:

offending tweet.JPG

Today, Horizon Group Management filed a lawsuit against her, alleging that her statement damaged the company's business reputation.

According to the complaint filed in Cook County court today, Bonnen "maliciously and wrongfully published the false and defamatory Tweet on Twitter, thereby allowing the Tweet to be distributed throughout the world.".............

some very good advice

don't think YOU are safe. you are not. everyone is at risk. i know this from experience.

BE SAFE

Twitter's security breach: a reminder to choose and use web passwords wisely.
Someone who goes by the name of "Hacker Croll" breached the cloud computing accounts of one or more Twitter employees, and obtained access to extremely sensitive personal and corporate documents. I won't link to the documents, but they're floating around. I first read about the breach on the New York Times "Bits" blog.

This seems as good a time as any to remind everyone about choosing and managing passwords wisely. The New York Times' Gadgetwise blog has a helpful post up today along those lines. Snip:

The lesson Twitter employees are learning the hard way is a lesson for us all. If you use cloud services for personal or work purposes, you need to:

* Use strong passwords
* Use a different password for each of your accounts
* Pick tough security questions
* Keep your passwords and answers to security questions to yourself.........

eye of newt is tweeting in the language of living in a ghetto

oh babies those aren't MY words.............THEY'RE HIS

this dude really is something else. really he is.

here is your wednesday morning humor:

Gingrich Begins A Twitter Feed In Spanish, ‘The Language Of Living In A Ghetto’

Former Republican House Speaker Newt Gingrich is notorious for his active — and sometimes controversialmusings on Twitter. But not only does he have a Twitter feed in English, but he has also started one in Spanish.

He posted his first tweet in Spanish at 1:08 pm on July 9, noting that he would be on Neil Cavuto’s Fox show at 4:05 to discuss Pelosi’s $16 million “mouse” project. He also asked his readers what he should say about the subject. While some of his tweets on the Spanish-language feed are the same as on the English version, others are original content.

More importantly, why would Gingrich even want a Spanish-language Twitter feed? He has fiercely opposed bilingual education, even going so as far to call Spanish “the language of living in a ghetto“:

The American people believe English should be the official language of the government. … We should replace bilingual education with immersion in English so people learn the common language of the country and they learn the language of prosperity, not the language of living in a ghetto.............

and hilarity ensued

i think this woman will continue to provide humor for YEARS AND YEARS AND YEARS to come!

Insane Sarah Palin, Late At Night On July 4, Threatens To Sue Entire Internet, Via Twitter
How did you spend the Fourth of July? Maybe having a BBQ with friends and family, watching a fireworks show, and generally enjoying a happy patriotic holiday? Batshit-insane American Quitter Sarah Palin ended her own special “Independence Day” by posting a series of desperate grammar-challenged nonsense and vicious threats on her Facebook and Twitter pages. Really.

(Also: Sarah, you idiot, when do you plan to give up your Twitter name AKGovSarahPalin? Because, you know, you just quit being governor ….)

It is unwise to dwell on the past or be obsessed with an unknown future, but we should all appreciate the wonderful present — a present in which Sarah Palin is nothing more than a punchline. Because, had things gone very differently in November, this dangerous delusional numbskull would’ve been just an Ambien overdose away from the presidency..........

of COURSE (most of) the rnc doesn't think slavery

was 'a flaw'. hell, they they WANTED the south to win

RNC Hits Obama For Criticizing Slavery

On May 21, 2009, the RNC tweeted an out of context quote from Barack Obama regarding a flaw in the constitution. The "fundamental flaw" Barack Obama was referring to was slavery.

RNC: as he prepares to deliver remarks in hall that holds the constitution, flashback obama: "constitution flawed" http://bit.ly/tFL7O #RNC [Twitter, 5/21/09]

FACT: Obama Explains The Constitution's "Fundamental Flaw" Was Slavery. The out of context video the RNC links to contains audio from a September 6, 2001 program called "Slavery and the Constitution" on WBEZ Chicago. On the show, Obama explained that the "fundamental flaw" was "Africans at the time were not considered as part of the polity that was of concern to the framers." In addition, the framers did not "see...it as a moral problem involving persons of moral worth." [WBEZ Radio, accessed 5/21/09].........
