doesn't the threat of gun violence

trump the second amendment? this has NOTHING to do with health care and we all know it. it has to do with the fear of a black president. the townfolk (they ARE simple remember) are really not at fault (again, they have NO minds of their own). they are being riled up and provoked by the good ol' boy network. they're telling lies and demanding violence. what sort of country are we turning into? it was ok for king george and his band of merry pranksters to bring us into an illegal, unjust and immoral war. it was ok for them to let people suffer and/or die in THIS country (katrina for one). it was ok for them to fund abstinance only education when that does NOTHING for anyone. IT HAS BEEN PROVEN NOT TO WORK. it was ok for them to toss money everywhere but in the pockets of their own citizens (the regular ones that is. you and i). it was ok for us to be lied to (weapons of mass destruction, NO GLOBAL WARMING, "intelligent" design). where were these protesters then? our country was put in a downward spiral with little chance of recovery. no. they are blaming it ALL on a black man but they are too afraid to say it

Health care opponent calls for town hall violence via Twitter

By Muriel Kane
Update: SEIU gets phone call “threatening to teach union officials a thing or two about ‘the Second Amendment’”

Brian Beutler reported at Talking Points Memo on Friday that a health care protester in New Mexico had been encouraging those following him on Twitter to bring their guns to town hall meetings — and use them if provoked.

“If ACORN/SEIU attends these meetings for disruptive purposes, and you have a license to carry….carry,” Scott Oskay wrote in one tweet. In another, he suggested, “Stop being peaceful, and hurt them. Badly.”

The Service Employees Industrial Union (SEIU) appears the to be latest boogeymen for the anti-health care protesters. Conservative blogger Michelle Malkin, for example, claimed on Friday that “SEIU thugs rolled up their sleeves and attacked a black conservative protester in St. Louis.”...

Sheriff: La. 8th-grader planned school shooting
By MARY FOSTER, Associated Press Writer

LAROSE, La. – A Louisiana middle school student stormed into a classroom and fired a gunshot over a teacher's head Monday before shooting himself in a bathroom, authorities said. Investigators found a suicide note and plans for a rampage in the teen's journal.

The 15-year-old student, whose name was not released, fired once around 9 a.m. inside a classroom at Larose-Cut Off Middle School, then shot himself in the head, said Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre. He was in critical but stable condition. The teacher had never taught the teen.

Webre said investigators found a note describing the boy's plans to "gear up" before his spree, along with a drawing of how he'd dress. The boy also scribbled "I am king" and "y'all will die!" on a sheet of paper investigators found.

Although he apparently was intent on killing people, he was armed with only four bullets for the .25-caliber, semiautomatic pistol he had taken from his father's home during the weekend. The boy's mother noticed he seemed nervous before school, but he said he was just worried about seeing his standardized test results, which were released Monday, Webre said.............

this man feared

'the obama administration would ban guns'.

if only the obama administration (or any other one) WOULD ban ALL guns (except for law enforcement and the military). but it will not happen. the lunatic fringe would have you think so, but it won't.

to the family and friends of the officers and to the city of pittsburgh, i am so very sorry. my thoughts and prayers are with you
3 Pittsburgh Officers Slain
By Ramit Plushnick-Masti and Dan Nephin
Associated Press

PITTSBURGH, April 4 -- A gunman wearing a bulletproof vest and "lying in wait" opened fire on officers responding to a domestic disturbance call Saturday, killing three of them and turning a quiet Pittsburgh street into a battlefield, police said.

Police Chief Nate Harper said the motive for the shooting was unclear, but friends of the gunman said that he recently had been upset about losing his job and feared that the Obama administration was poised to ban guns.

Richard Poplawski, 23, met officers at the doorway and shot two of them in the head immediately, Harper said. A third officer who tried to help the two was then killed.........

...........The three slain officers were Eric Kelly, Stephen Mayhle and Paul Sciullo III. Kelly had been on the force for 14 years, Mayhle and Sciullo for two years each. Another officer, Timothy McManaway, was shot in the hand, and a fifth broke his leg on a fence........

the last time i posted a story on guns

i got a very angry comment. the article was about the present administration stopping the absolutely insane law (or whatever the hell it was) about bringing guns into national parks. the person felt with their whole heart and soul they could NOT go into a national park without packing heat. they felt afraid for their lives. well if you're afraid to go to a national park (same is true of not wanting gays marrying DON'T MARRY SOMEONE WHO IS GAY or not 'believing' in having an abortion DON'T HAVE AN ABORTION) DON'T GO TO AN EFFING NATIONAL PARK

now i see this about texas universities (and then read the headline i'll post AFTER the texas gun story)

Colleges line up against allowing guns on campuses
By DAVE MONTGOMERY
AUSTIN — Texas universities are firing back against a bill that would permit students to carry handguns on campus.

Rep. Joe Driver, R-Garland, said his bill would be limited to students 21 and older. But campus police chiefs and administrators say the idea of permitting firepower on campus is a potential threat to student safety.

"As one faculty person told me, 'Do you think I want to pass out those F’s and D’s with somebody in the classroom having a gun?’ " said Rep. Lon Burnam, D-Fort Worth.

Burnam is a member of the House Public Safety Committee, which will consider the legislation at a hearing Monday.

Another North Texan on the committee, Rep. Phil King, R-Weatherford, said he believes that students should be able to leave guns in their vehicles on campus parking lots. But he said he is keeping an open mind about whether they should be permitted to carry guns elsewhere on campus.

The April 2007 massacre of 32 people at Virginia Tech by a mentally disturbed student ignited a nationwide call for greater safety at colleges. Both sides in the debate over Driver’s bill cite that tragedy in making their case.

"There might have been a lot less people dead" if there had been a legally armed student at Virginia Tech to stop the gunman, Driver said. ..........

and here's that OTHER headline

Eight killed in North Carolina nursing home rampage
(CNN) -- An armed man shot and killed seven patients and a nurse at a Carthage, North Carolina, nursing home Sunday before being wounded during a shootout with a police officer, authorities said. Three other people, including the police officer and a visitor to the nursing home, were wounded in the attack, Carthage Police Chief Chris McKenzie said. The police officer was treated and released, McKenzie said.

The slain patients ranged in age from 78 to 98, Moore County District Attorney Maureen Krueger said. The man accused of carrying out the attack, 45-year-old Robert Stewart, was in custody, and his condition was unknown Sunday night, McKenzie said.

Stewart was not an employee of the Pinelake Health and Rehab Center, and he did not appear to have been related to any of the patients, she said.

"There is still more to be uncovered as far as his purpose in being there," she said.

A witness told CNN affiliate WRAL that Stewart was armed with a rifle, a shotgun and other weapons. The officer who stopped him, Justin Garner, "acted in nothing short of a heroic manner" and probably stopped the carnage from being worse, Krueger said.........
