i really AM finding some GEMS today

hey, i find 'em so YOU don't have to!

Australian govt memo, 1968: Women become "spinster battle axes;" "men usually mellow"
Nat sez, "Spinster battlaxe Skud passed me this 1968 minute from the Director of the Trade Commissioner of Australia explaining why women are ineligible for postings. It's a jawdropalicious blast from the sexist past:
Even conceding these points, a woman could not stay young and attractive for ever, and later on could well become a problem.

(vii) A spinster lady can, and very often does, turn into something of a battleaxe with the passing years. A man usually mellows.........

more (and it's hard to believe it's 2009 sometimes)

why are we allowing ourselves to be portrayed in the media like this? i've posted many times on burger king, bacardi and more. how they portray women. how they objectify and sex-i-fy us (tis ok to be 'sexy' but NOT how THEY are doing it. a bunch of ad MEN fucking with our images. not just no but HELL NO

let's stop this disgusting shite. i can't stop eating at carl jrs for a couple of reasons. 1) i don't think there are any in connecticut and 2) i'm vegan

ok my sisters and brothers. we buy fast food sometimes (well some of us do). let's NOT buy carl's jr (or burger king for that matter). if enough of us STOP buying their products perhaps they'll get the idea that women want to be seen as more than HOT OR NOT HOT (chicks). that women have feelings and brains and are not there simply as an image to be masterbated at or to

Carl's Jr. seeks "Hot Chicks Eating Burgers" on craigslist
Samhita linked to this campaign briefly last week, but we've got more to say about this.

That's right, folks. A reader alerted us to this craigslist ad casting call from Carl's Jr. and Hardee's burgers telling women that they could win $1,000 and a trip to Vegas if they submit a video of themselves eating one of their burgers and is "hot" enough for their marketing campaign.

Between Burger King's recent sick tactics and Carl's Jr. history of substituting women as meat in their ads, I don't think I'll be eating a burger for quite some time.

Carl's Jr.'s tagline is literally "More than just a piece of meat." So let's send them an email letting them know what that actually means to us. Or perhaps we can think of a good counter-campaign by sending them videos of what we really think of Carl's Jr. Any bright ideas?.........

because i DO try to be fair, i'll post this email

i got it yeterday (but just read it now). (corbin & associates is a marketing firm by the way)

see the posting from yesterday to understand this posting today

Dear A Rose is a Rose:

Thank you for taking the time to post your story on Bacardi Breezer.

The campaign you are referring to ran in 2008 for two months in Israel. Even though Bacardi Breezer is not sold or distributed in the United States, we immediately notified the appropriate Bacardi affiliate and had this website shut down.

Bacardi proudly celebrates diversity and we do not endorse the views of this site. We sincerely apologize to anyone who was offended by this site and thank you for bringing it to our attention.

Sean-Patrick M. Hillman

Executive Vice President

CORBIN & ASSOCIATES, LTD.

and here is my answer;

mr hillman, i know the campaign only ran in israel. are israeli women different than american women?

is your firm affiliated with mccann digital in ANY way? did your firm approve that ad campaign?

oh and two months is two months too long. to me that is hardly immediate. i truly appreciate your apology although i believe it's of course for pr purposes and NOT because bacardi (and yes, SOMEONE actually from bacardi had to have approved that ad campaign) offended every single women on this earth in this cosmos

no, i won't be drinking bacardi and i'm going to ask every single person i know to NOT drink it either.

sincerely,

a rose is a rose (who is a woman and was highly offended by that ad campaign)

i am going to ask you NOT to ever buy bacardi again

EVER. i pledge i NEVER EVER will. EVER

this not only perpetuates stereotypes but is insulting and evil.

there are far far far better rums out there anyway. myers, mount gay and goslings to name just three.

i don't think i'd personally use the services of mccann digital but i'm going to make sure they know how i feel about this

Boycott Bacardi

Many commercials use misogynistic messages and stereotypes to promote their product, especially products geared to men such as beer. As it turns out, advertisements targeted for women can be equally offensive and ridiculous. Take, for instance, the advertisements for Bacardi Breezers stating that the must-need accessory for a woman is an ugly female friend so they can seem more attractive in comparison................

Bacardi Ad Uses Misogyny To Sell Alcohol To Women

By Margaret
A disgusting new promotional site for Bacardi Breezers says all that women need to be more attractive is to find an more unattractive female friend to stand next to.

According to Copyranter, Israeli ad agency McCann Digital launched the "Get An Ugly Girlfriend!" site in Hebrew and English along with a Hebrew-only facebook group to promote the fruit-flavored alcoholic beverages........

Want to look hot this summer? Bacardi suggests getting an “ugly girlfriend”

I’m a teetotaler for various reasons* — at 30, I’ve never even been drunk if you can believe that — but even if I were the most raging of party girls, Bacardi’s new “Get an ugly girlfriend” ad campaign wouldn’t convince me to buy its line of fruity Breezers.

Remember the discussion the other day on how the beauty beast pits women against each other? This is a prime example. The campaign suggests that women — that is, attractive women — accessorize themselves with an “ugly girlfriend” in order to make themselves look better at the mall, the beach and other social situations. The four “ugly girlfriends” featured on the campaign’s minisite are equal-opportunity offensive, including fat, thin and disabled women..............

Take Action Against Bacardi & McCann Digital for "Ugly Girlfriend" Campaign

by Jen Nedeau

As you may have read about in yesterday's Friday Femme Fatale, McCann Digital, a large advertising agency, has just put out this rather sexist campaign on behalf of Barcadi titled the "Ugly Girlfriend” campaign.

From Women's Media Center:

McCann Digital has teamed up with Bacardi Breezers to target their beverages to women, who “want to look amazing this summer” by accessorizing with “an ugly girlfriend.” Of course, there are different options – and each is ripped apart by describing different woman as having, “97 kilograms of femininity, strength and double chins,” “rubbing thighs,” and “drooping breasts.” Apparently, having them by your side will make you, “the most desirable piece of meat on the grill.”

It’s not clear what overly sweet wine coolers – it really just seems to take a very nauseating, pointless dig at women – displaying blatant misogyny and using it to sell their products to women themselves........

Summer's hot accessory: Ugly girlfriends!

Forget hitting the treadmill or the tanning bed in hopes of looking hot this summer, because Bacardi has discovered a secret shortcut to sexiness: An ugly female friend. If you make your beach premiere with an unattractive pal in tow, you'll look fantastic ... in comparison!

Such is the advice given in an ad campaign (via Copyranter) recently launched in Tel Aviv for Bacardi's girly Breezer drinks. The official Web site is in Hebrew, but -- lucky for us, and too bad for Bacardi -- the ad agency has an English version on its site...................

from bits and pieces; sexist, misogynist

dripping stereotypical steamin' shite "humor" about women (although there is NOTHING FUCKING FUNNY ABOUT THIS) and yes, i DO have a sense of humor

beer contains female hormones

Last month, Wits University and RAU scientists released the results of a recent analysis that revealed the presence of female hormones in beer.

Men should take a concerned look at their beer consumption. The theory is that beer contains female hormones (hops contain Phytoestrogens) and that by drinking enough beer, men turn into women .

To test the theory, 100 men drank 8 pints of beer each within a 1 hour period.

It was then observed that 100% of the test subjects :

1) Argued over nothing.
2) Refused to apologize when obviously wrong.
3) Gained weight.
4) Talked excessively without making sense.

5) Became overly emotional...................(oh there's more of this fucked up shite)

i've avoided talking about the republicans and pussy

galore that is. we all know i cannot stand nancy pelosi. we all know i have a potty mouth. we all know if i was a member of the congress or senate i would NEVER allow a sanctioned 'pussy' joke hit job on someone. it's JUST NOT RIGHT. (i'm not even going to post the video. if you want to see it, click on the think progress link below)

well ONE rnc-er has a soul it seems:

GOP lawmaker slams RNC video mocking Pelosi as ‘reprehensible.’

.................

Yesterday, Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) sharply criticized the RNC’s video:

I thought it was reprehensible, irresponsible and unpersuasive. If we’re going to regain the credibility of the American people, we’re going to have to stop with silly antics like that. It may get a snide chuckle inside the Beltway, but it offends most people. We have to get away from the politics of personal destruction.......................

hey mark regnerus

FUCK YOU. i would hope your article or piece or steamin' hunk o' shite was a joke. unfortunately, i don't think it is. i think you were quite serious.

by the way, i do NOT have 'market value' nor do my sisters. we're human beings not commodities you giant katsu piedi. and also by the way, if men get better with age, so do women. people like you are just too blind to see it

anyway, some dude in the wapo is telling us women we better HURRY up and get married cause once we're past 14, we're over the hill and good for nuthin', not worth the time it takes to write about us

Say Yes. What Are You Waiting For?
By Mark Regnerus

..........This is not just an economic problem. It's also a biological and emotional one. I realize that it's not cool to say that, but my job is to map trends, not to affirm them. Marriage will be there for men when they're ready. And most do get there. Eventually. But according to social psychologists Roy Baumeister and Kathleen Vohs, women's "market value" declines steadily as they age, while men's tends to rise in step with their growing resources (that is, money and maturation). Countless studies -- and endless anecdotes -- reinforce their conclusion. Meanwhile, women's fertility is more or less fixed, yet they largely suppress it during their 20s -- their most fertile years -- only to have to beg, pray, borrow and pay to reclaim it in their 30s and 40s. Although male fertility lives on, it doesn't hold out forever, either: Studies emerging from Europe and Australia note that a couple's chances of conceiving fall off notably when men pass the age of 40, and that several developmental disorders are slightly more common in children of older fathers. ..............

i have always hated cosmo

(NOT cosmopolitans silly. if it has vodka in it, i most likely LOVE it).

and here's a good example why i hate it. and no, this wasn't taken from 1971. it is current (i know it's hard to believe)
from evil slutopia (love the moniker)

cosmo quick hit: sports are icky

I watched the NFL draft today. I watched it because I wanted to, not because I was with some guy who was into it. I'm also a woman. According to Cosmopolitan, this apparently makes me some sort of mutant. Here are two items from their May 2009 issue to illustrate what I mean.

The "Cosmo For Your Guy" section is the page that you're supposed to give to your boyfriend to read (no comment on that), so it has relationship tips for guys. This month it's "Small Moves That Score Big", and here's one of them:

Get Girlie With Her: Believe it or not, your girlfriend probably isn't sitting by your side watching SportsCenter because she's dying to see the highlights of the Bobcats/Thunder game. She does stuff like that because she wants to spend time with you...and she'd love it if you returned the favor. That means doing things like going shopping without pouting the whole time or dozing off in one of those massage chairs. "Making small sacrifices shows her that you're a team player and her happiness is a priority," says Carol Bruess, PhD, coauthor of What Happy Couples Do.
See, because women don't like sports. Not a single one of us...............

oh and for the record, I HATE SHOPPING. HATE HATE HATE IT (not a big sports fan, but the bosox are beloved to me. i be liken' me some bruins too and ok ok ok a celtic now and again. i don't watch espn too often but i DO like their commercials)

this article just hopped right up and called my name

it struck me. i hope it strikes YOU in the very same way

there is something missing. it's just a lil' somethin' somethin' but it's missing all right.

what's missing you ax? i'll tell you

W O M E N

oh sure there's an obligatory woman bartender and a mention of bras hanging from the ceiling (are you getting what i'm trying to say???????????)

anyway, in this day and age, from a 'good' newspaper no less, no mention of women. i guess women don't have unemployment problems or go out for a drink to relax.

silly me! (oh and the article APPEARS to be written by a woman as well. making it WORSE)

Happy Hour and a Harley Help Weather Recession
Leesburg Tavern Regulars Look Out for One Another

Washington Post Staff Writer

One in a series about how the recession is touching lives.

It's the end of the workday, and the Leesburg courthouse is bathed in yellow sunlight. The guys who ride Harleys are drinking beers in a bar whose motto, in neon, reads: "Better off here than across the street."

They believe this. Better off here than in the courthouse, and better off here than in the darker places a man can get caught when times are tough..............

a very worthwhile post

from By Scarlett Johansson, Huffington Post. (of all people)

one always thinks movie stars are secure in their looks. think again. how can they be with their faces and bodies and lives on the covers of a zillion magazines and tabloid tv shows. the media's (and i use the term loosely in the case of tabloidism) perception of what women SHOULD be like and look like should NEVER bother us. we are all who we are. we cannot be comfortable with someone else, if we're first not comfortable with our own selves

Scarlett Johansson: Sexist Tabloids Make Me Feel Bad About My Weight and Body

While training for an upcoming film, I've come to this conclusion: chin ups are near impossible and lunges suck. There is no magic wand to wave over oneself to look good in a latex catsuit. Eating healthy and getting fit is about commitment, determination, consistency and the dedication to self-preservation. While I've never been considered a gym rat, I have, in fact, worked up a sweat in the name of cardio before, and although I enjoy a grilled cheese as much as the next person, I combine the not-so-good foods I crave with an all-around balanced diet.

People come in all shapes and sizes and everyone has the capability to meet their maximum potential. Once filming is completed, I'll no longer need to rehash the 50 ways to lift a dumbbell, but I'll commit to working out at least 30 minutes a day and eating a balanced diet of fruit, vegetables and lean proteins. Pull ups, crunches, lunges, squats, jumping jacks, planks, walking, jogging and push ups are all exercises that can be performed without fancy trainers or gym memberships. I've realized through this process that no matter how busy my life may be, I feel better when I take a little time to focus on staying active. We can all pledge to have healthy bodies no matter how diverse our lifestyles may be..........

f**k terrence howard

now remember, this is the VERY SAME terrence howard who said women were UNCLEAN if they don't use baby wipes after 'freshening up' (and he said so VERY MUCH MORE ABOUT 'EM TOO. just check out that first link). what a gem that terrence howard is!

Terrence Howard's Fists Of Fury

ctor, a Chris Brown supporter, was once nabbed for beating wife

FEBRUARY 17--After Chris Brown's arrest for assaulting his girlfriend Rihanna, the actor Terrence Howard chose to salute the alleged batterer. "It's just life, man. Chris is a great guy. He'll be alright," said Howard. "And Rihanna knows he loves her, you know? They'll be alright." Though Howard would later apologize for his remarks, the star's own rap sheet offers an explanation as to why he would jump to the side of an accused domestic abuser. Police and court records reveal that Howard, 39, was once arrested for a similar crime, the details of which have not been previously reported. The actor, who co-starred in "Iron Man" and was nominated in 2006 for an Academy Award for his role in "Hustle & Flow," was arrested by Pennsylvania cops in September 2001 for assaulting his estranged wife. According to a Whitemarsh Police Department report, after Howard and Lori McCommas argued on the phone, the actor warned, "Don't disrespect me by hanging up on me or I'll come over and hurt you.".................

this is HORRID

although i just checked amazon for myself (since i do a LOT of shopping there myself) and there is NOTHING coming up when i type in the word 'rapelay' (thank the goddess for that one). what sort of sick fuckers INVENTED this 'game'? don't they have sisters and mothers and aunts and wives and women friends? hurting women, assaulting women, raping women are NOT games.

Exclusive: Amazon selling rape simulation game

By Gary Fennelly
A game that involves the player stalking victims and then raping them in a virtual world is being offered for sale by online retailer Amazon.com, the Belfast Telegraph's website can reveal.

The shocking 'rape simulator', Rapelay, is set in Japan and carries a sickening game description on the Amazon website. An MP said last night that he plans to raise the issue in Parliament.

Reviews by gaming websites have expressed horror at the basis for the game.

One website review describes "tears glistening in the young girl's eyes" as she is attacked in graphic detail.

Players begin the game by stalking a mother on a subway station before violently raping her. They then move on to attack her two daughters described as virgin schoolgirls.

Players are also allowed to enter 'freeform mode' where they can rape any woman and get other male game characters to join the attacks.

Pregnancy and abortion are listed as 'key features'. One review said: "If she does become pregnant you're supposed to force her to get an abortion, otherwise she gets more and more visibly pregnant each time you have sex.

"If you allow the child to be born then the woman will throw you in front of a train!" ..........

ah, i just read further down the story and found this:

.......................Update

After being contacted by the Belfast Telegraph Amazon today removed the webpage (still viewable here from Google's cache). A screenshot is also available at this location. The company would not comment on the item or say why it had been offered for sale through their website.........

what sort of

FUCKED UP BULLSHITE is this?

i'll tell you, IT'S SOME FUCKED UP UNTRUE BULLSHITE

i am SO livid i can't even express it.

i DO know women who will exploit themselves for a buck. they are not in my circle but i know them. they do NOT make up the bulk of women out there. they are SO VERY FEW it's not even worth mentioning.

there are ASSHOLES everywhere. it goes beyond gender, religion, color, status, intelligence. you're either a nice person OR YOU'RE NOT. it has nothing to do with what is between your legs

Wealthy men give women more orgasms
Jonathan Leake, Science and Environment Editor

Scientists have found that the pleasure women get from making love is directly linked to the size of their partner’s bank balance.

They found that the wealthier a man is, the more frequently his partner has orgasms.

“Women’s orgasm frequency increases with the income of their partner,” said Dr Thomas Pollet, the Newcastle University psychologist behind the research.

He believes the phenomenon is an “evolutionary adaptation” that is hard-wired into women, driving them to select men on the basis of their perceived quality.
The study is certain to prove controversial, suggesting that women are inherently programmed to be gold-diggers.

However, it fits into a wider body of research known as evolutionary psychology which suggests that both men and women are genetically predisposed to ruthlessly exploit each other to achieve the best chances of survival for their genes.

The female orgasm is the focus of much research because it appears to have no reproductive purpose. Women can become pregnant whatever their pleasure levels. ................
