Report: Iraq militia kill gays with anal glue torture
RAW STORY
...............From the translated Al Arabiya article:
A prominent Iraqi human rights activist says that Iraqi militia have deployed a painful form of torture against homosexuals by closing their anuses using "Iranian gum.” … Yanar Mohammad told Alarabiya.net that, “Iraqi militias have deployed an unprecedented form of torture against homosexuals by using a very strong glue that will close their anus.”
According to her, the new substance 'is known as the American hum, which is an Iranian-manufactured glue that if applied to the skin, sticks to it and can only be removed by surgery. After they glue the anuses of homosexuals, they give them a drink that causes diarrhea. Since the anus is closed, the diarrhea causes death. Videos of this form of torture are being distributed on mobile cellphones in Iraq.'..............

if everyone stopped thinking
their god was better than everyone else's god the world would be a far far better place. if everyone stopped trying to put words in their god's mouth (you know tell everyone else what their only one and true god said when they themselves have NEVER heard their god say boo) the world would be a far far better place. if everyone followed the golden rule, do unto others, the world would be a far far better place.
but no one does. they think their god is better than the next god. they think unless you believe EXACTLY what they believe you will go to hell.
well people open your minds AND your hearts. we're all alike. there are good ones of us and bad ones. ones that need help and ones that can offer help. ones that are role models and ones that should be in jail.
no one is better than the next. no one god's is better than the next either
please remember your bible was written BY MAN FOR MAN. it was written in days gone by. in days where if you ate raw pig meat or shell fish you'd get sick (hence the no pig meat and no shell fish). and please remember this as well; let she or he who is without sin CAST THE FIRST STONE

Faith Groups Increasingly Lose Gay Rights Fights
Washington Post Staff Writer
Faith organizations and individuals who view homosexuality as sinful and refuse to provide services to gay people are losing a growing number of legal battles that they say are costing them their religious freedom.
The lawsuits have resulted from states and communities that have banned discrimination based on sexual orientation. Those laws have created a clash between the right to be free from discrimination and the right to freedom of religion, religious groups said, with faith losing. They point to what they say are ominous recent examples:
-- A Christian photographer was forced by the New Mexico Civil Rights Commission to pay $6,637 in attorney's costs after she refused to photograph a gay couple's commitment ceremony..............

more on my favorite presidential candidate
and by favorite i mean the one that i spend the most attention on because of his LUDICROUS beliefs and statements (plus he has chuck norris on his side. need i say more?)
Mike Huckabee: Homosexual behavior 'is a choice'
David Edwards and Katie Baker
According to presidential candidate Mike Huckabee, homosexual behavior is a choice.
"We may have certain tendencies, but [we choose] how we behave and how we carry out our behavior," Huckabee said in an interview Sunday with Tim Russert of MSNBC's "Meet the Press."
Huckabee is known for his controversial remarks regarding homosexuality; as Russert reminded him, Huckabee once said he felt it was a "aberrant, unnatural and sinful lifestyle."
Although Huckabee asked Russert to understand that "when a Christian speaks of sin, a Christian says all of us are sinners," he asserted that "the perfection of God is seen in a marriage in which one man, one woman live together as a couple committed to each other as life partners."..........
................He believes that a ban on abortion would not be an example of imposing his faith on Americans, but that his pro-life stance is "a human belief. It goes to the heart of who we are as a civilization."
"If you take the life and suction out the pieces of an unborn child for no reason than its inconvenience to the mother, I don't think you've lived up to your Hippocratic Oath of doing no harm," Huckabee said.
Therefore, he said he would support "sanctioning" doctors who perform abortions..............

it's absolutely
frightening there are 'professors' like this ANYWHERE, much less columbia
The Columbia Professor Who Also Doesn't Think Gay People Exist in the Middle East
Queer Theory
by James Kirchick
.........................Yet while the audience in the Roone Arledge Auditorium and millions of television viewers laughed and booed at the Islamist rube, there was one man--ensconced at Columbia University, no less--who was likely nodding along in agreement. His name is Joseph Massad, Associate Professor of Modern Arab Politics and Intellectual History, and he legitimizes, with a complex academic posture, the deservedly reviled views on homosexuality espoused by Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
According to Massad, a Palestinian Christian and disciple of the late Columbia professor Edward Said, the case for gay rights in the Middle East is an elaborate scheme hatched by activists in the West. Massad posited this thesis in a 2002 article, "Re-Orienting Desire: The Gay International and the Arab World," for the academic journal Public Culture, and he has expanded it into a book, Desiring Arabs, published this year by the University of Chicago Press. In it, he writes that such activists constitute the "Gay International" whose "discourse ... produces homosexuals as well as gays and lesbians, where they do not exist." The "missionary tasks" of this worldwide conspiracy are part of a broader attempt to legitimize American and Israeli global conquest by undermining the very moral basis of Muslim societies, as the "Orientalist impulse ... continues to guide all branches of the human rights community." Massad's intellectual project is a not-so-tacit apology for the oppression of people who identify openly as homosexual. In so doing, he sides with Islamist regimes over Islamic liberals. .....................

counter to god's law
and who told YOU what 'god's law' is? GOD? i think not
Calling homosexuality immoral, general draws chants of 'Thou Shalt Not Kill'
Protesters shouting "Thou Shalt Not Kill!" disrupted a congressional hearing Wednesday after the top US military officer defended his view that homosexuality is immoral.
The confrontation began when Senator Tom Harkin, a Democrat, chided General Peter Pace for his "very hurtful remarks" in May that it was wrong to "condone immoral acts" by allowing gays to serve openly in the military.
Pace, who steps down next week as chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, responded that he supported the military's "don't ask, don't tell" policy on gays in the military because it allowed homosexuals to serve their country.
"And we need to be very precise then, about what I said wearing my stars and being very conscious of it," the general said.
"And that is, very simply, that we should respect those who want to serve the nation but not through the law of the land, condone activity that, in my upbringing, is counter to God's law," he said.
Anti-war protesters then started shouting, but Pace went on to say his responsibility was "to obey the law of the land and to object if something is either illegal or immoral.".........

i think it's a stupid rule
don't ask/don't tell
i think (in all walks of life) one should be judged on one's actions, intentions, work history and ethic, convictions and the like.
there are plenty of incompetents out there - and guess what, MOST of 'em are STRAIGHT
(i think he was done in by the publicity. if this story didn't get out, i think petty officer second class jason knight would STILL be in the navy).
Navy to discharge gay sailor recalled to service
by PageOneQ
The United States Navy will discharge Petty Officer Second Class Jason Knight less than one month prior to the end of his commitment, reports the Servicemembers Legal Defense Network. Knight was recalled to duty in 11 months ago and recently completed a tour in Kuwait, where he served as a Hebrew linguist. Knight was repeatedly praised by those who worked alongside and was out of the closet to his commanders and fellow officers.
Navy commanders became aware of Knight's story when he gave an interview to Stars and Stripes. The interview may be read here.........

please stop by a great blog, cv rick's
and give THIS a read
(i love reading cv rick. i love his stories. i love how he writes. i love his dog sarge too)
i don't agree with everything in his story (linked above and excerpted below). i DO agree with most of it though. rick served his time, i never did. i realize that
The Military vs. Homosexuality
Over at Pam's House Blend there was a post about a military recruiter who sent some totally inappropriate emails to an openly gay man she had contacted through his resume, which he'd posted to an online job board. The conversation went on for three days and the recruiter went off the deep end psychotically with a ranting bigoted diatribe that will undoubtedly get her fired. But in discussing this with another person, I found myself in interesting position of explaining that the military is here to make him feel better about social issues, and the military doesn't have the incentive to put an end to homophobia. What follows is my essay to him regarding this issue.
Warning: It's long.
When did the U.S. Armed Forces become OUR military? When was OUR military last used to protect and defend the Constitution and the rights and promises enumerated within? I'll get back to these questions later, as they're rhetorical...................
