The Military vs. Homosexuality
Over at Pam's House Blend there was a post about a military recruiter who sent some totally inappropriate emails to an openly gay man she had contacted through his resume, which he'd posted to an online job board. The conversation went on for three days and the recruiter went off the deep end psychotically with a ranting bigoted diatribe that will undoubtedly get her fired. But in discussing this with another person, I found myself in interesting position of explaining that the military is here to make him feel better about social issues, and the military doesn't have the incentive to put an end to homophobia. What follows is my essay to him regarding this issue.
Warning: It's long.
When did the U.S. Armed Forces become OUR military? When was OUR military last used to protect and defend the Constitution and the rights and promises enumerated within? I'll get back to these questions later, as they're rhetorical...................

Thank you, Rose.
We don't have to agree on everything, but the essence of our character is justice and equality. I think that's what matters.
oh i agree rick!
Well, I'm back onto another area of my own expertise tomorrow. Another installment of My Boy Scout summer. I've scheduled it to post early in the morning, and in this one I contrast Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts:
"The organizations, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, couldn't be more different despite their names. The Boy Scouts as I've pointed out before is quite a political organization dedicated to promoting stereotypes and continuing an unsustainable existence hearkening back to a simpler time of racism, sexism, and exploitation that all true conservatives long for. Girl Scouts, oddly enough, seem to be about empowering girls through mutual support and companionship while teaching social and practical skills which can round out a young girl's personality. And Girl Scouts have cookies."
I put that in there for you, Rose.
i'll swing by and give it a read and i can't wait!
mmmmmmmm i LOVE cookies
little known fact but quite pertinent to the subject-juliette lowe (founder of the grrrl scouts) and i share a b-day
