Prostitute-loving Senator questions Hillary's ethics

Louisiana-Republican family-values prostitute-paying married Senator David Vitter, a man who brings new meaning to the phrase "stimulus package," had the audacity to question Hillary's and Bill's ethics today during Hillary's confirmation hearings..........

Discussing Obama, Limbaugh suggests Dems, media believe "you can't criticize the little black man-child"

On the August 20 broadcast of his nationally syndicated radio show, Rush Limbaugh asserted of attacks by Sen. John McCain against Sen. Barack Obama: "[S]ee, there are Democrats -- the drive-bys" -- a term Limbaugh uses to denote the national media -- "are just so upset with these so-called 'ferocious attacks.' These have been benign. Even the Britney Spears/Paris Hilton ad was funny. It was benign." He later added: "It's -- you know, it's just -- it's just we can't hit the girl. I don't care how far feminism's saying, you can't hit the girl, and you can't -- you can't criticize the little black man-child. You just can't do it, 'cause it's just not right, It's not fair. He's such a victim."..........

Obama Claims Nomination

for all of these reasons

and more, i dislike her. then again, i've ALWAYS disliked her. i've always said i would / will NEVER vote for her and i'll stick by that.

It's official, everybody hates her
by John Aravosis (DC) ·

National Journal's Blogometer does a nice daily summation of the best of the blogs. I've excerpted some of the more interesting comments about Hillary in the liberal blogosphere over the past 24 hours. (The first quote, by Josh, wasn't in the Blogometer, so I added it.)

Josh Marshall:

"She is embarking on a gambit that is uncertain in its result and simply breathtaking in its cynicism.... What she's doing is not securing her the nomination. Rather, she's gunning up a lot of her supporters to believe that the nomination was stolen from her -- a belief many won't soon abandon. And that on the basis of rationales and arguments there's every reason to think she doesn't even believe in."

Carpetbagger Report:

"I've defended Clinton, more than once, when people said she was putting her own interests above those of the party and the nation. But after seeing her tactics yesterday, I'm done defending Hillary Clinton. I'm 35, and have been following politics for quite a while, and I've never been so disappointed with a politician I've admired and respected. Yesterday's tactics weren't just wrong, they were offensive.

BooMan:

"I think this delegitimization of Obama's victory is the act she will be most remembered for. And if Obama does not win the election in November, Clinton will join Ralph Nader in the left-wing Hall of Shame."

TNR:

"[T]his episode is very revealing about Clinton's character. [...] If she's consciously lying, it's a shockingly cynical move. I don't think she's lying. I think she's so convinced of her own morality and historical importance that she can whip herself into a moralistic fervor to support nearly any position that might benefit her, however crass and sleazy.... She is proving herself temperamentally unfit for the presidency."

Balloon Juice:

"What a contemptible wretch"

Matt Yglesias

"[H]er campaign has lost and is continuing to engage in bizarre and reckless behavior."

Markos:

"One of the wonders of this primary season has been the ability of the Clinton campaign -- including Hillary herself -- and their supporters to engage in some of the most patently ridiculous and bald faced lies, knowing that everyone else knows they are engaging in patently ridiculous and bald faced lies."

this was in my email box when i got home from work yesterday

(and it made me happy - as did the news john edwards is ALSO backing barack obama)

Dear a rose,

.I'm excited to announce that today, NARAL Pro-Choice America PAC is endorsing Sen. Barack Obama for president! We have been so fortunate to have two fully pro-choice candidates running for the Democratic nomination, and we praised both Sen. Clinton and Sen. Obama for their leadership in standing up for women's reproductive rights. But only one candidate can advance to the general election.NARAL Pro-Choice America PAC is making our endorsement now because every day that passes, Sen. McCain gets a free ride on the issue of choice. That free ride ends today.Too many voters think that McCain is a moderate. Can someone who's voted anti-choice 125 times out of 130 opportunities on abortion and other reproductive-rights issues be a moderate? It's time to put that myth to rest. To win in November, NARAL Pro-Choice America will educate swing voters who can tip this election: Republican and Indepdendent women. And we cannot let one more day go by without comparing Sen. Obama's fully pro-choice record to Sen. McCain's anti-choice record. On one hand, we have Sen. Obama—who has been a fully pro-choice ally from day one and whom women can trust. And on the other hand, we have Sen. John McCain—who has gone even further than George W. Bush in his anti-choice rhetoric by directly calling for the Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade.I believe that Sen. Obama is the leader who can unify our country behind commonsense ways to prevent unintended pregnancy. We need you to be a part of our work to defeat Sen. McCain and elect Sen. Obama.
send an ecard to your friends to educate them about Sen. Obama's record on choice.

my comment (which i left on the narl website)

i tip my hat to narl. it is beyond belief how angry some are (including now) for one reason and one reason alone. it has NOTHING to do with choice mind you. it has to do with having particular genitalia (or not having it).
i support barack obama and have always supported him. i support him because he is THE BEST CHOICE. not because of gender. not because of religion. not because of skin color. i believe he is the most honest candidate. the most sincere candidate. i believe he GENUINELY cares about women. is he perfect? no. then again, neither am i

this is how i feel

IT'S NOT CLOSE. YOU FREAKING LOST THE NOMINATION, WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU?Good God. What is wrong with her? The Clintons and their campaign staff don't give a damn that they are now hurting our electoral chances in the fall against McCain and against the Republicans in Congress. Their campaign isn't happening in some vacuum, and they know it. Our candidates can't fundraise because of her. Obama can't focus on McCain because of her. Obama is wasting money on HER, rather than spending it on McCain, because of her. EMILY's List, and AFSCME, and the American Federation of Teachers and others are wasting their members' money on her now-failed race - money that they could be spending, should be spending, on other real races, races that haven't already lost. She can't win, the math says she lost the nomination, but she doesn't give a damn. She's going to stay in the race like some spoiled hateful egotistical brat. Why is the media even covering her? The only stories that should be written about Hillary Clinton is how much damage she's causing our party. How she's hurting fundraising at the DNC - they even admitted it, they're not raising the money they need to fight John McCain because of this woman. Why don't you write some stories about how she is hurting our candidates who can't fundraise because of her? How she has forced EMILY's List and AFSCME and the AFT to waste their money because of her. How she has caused a civil war in the Netroots. Five months ago we all felt that we had 3 great candidates. Now, far too many of us loathe Hillary Clinton, and she has done her racist best to ensure that her supporters can't stand Barack Obama either..........

oh i'm not just pissed at THEM

i'm pissed at now and any other group or individual who/that thinks someone should get the job JUST because of their gender. i demand equality, i do NOT demand special treatment. i do not want special treatment. i want the SAME treatment. i do NOT like hillary. i DO like barack. it has NOTHING to do with one being a woman and one not being a woman. it has NOTHING to do with one being black and one being white. it DOES have to do with one (at least in my eyes) being MORE HONEST than another. with one caring more than another. with one not owing favors more than another. with one MORE SINCERE THAN ANOTHER. and on and on.

Women are pissed at EMILY's List
by John Aravosis (DC) ·
I wrote late last night about an op ed in today's Washington Post, written by Ellen Malcolm, the head of EMILY's List (an organization that supports pro-choice Democratic women for elected office). The thrust of Malcolm's piece was that Hillary hasn't lost yet and is only being asked to leave the race because she's a woman, and, you know, we all hate women. Well, our female readers had something to say about this, I excerpted some of their 67 Comments below.

As an aside, as an organization that claims it cares about the right to choose (I mean, pro-choice Democratic women is EMILY's List's reason for existing), EMILY's List doesn't seem that interested in the fact that John McCain plans to overturn Roe v. Wade. No, EMILY's List is more interested in helping Hillary destroy our nominee, Barack Obama, so that McCain can win the election and ban all abortions, without exceptions. If you donate to EMILY's List, think twice. And rather than just take my word for it, Chris Bowers did a fascinating, and disturbing, analysis of EMILY's List's success rate (or should I say "failure rate") in the last election. It isn't pretty. Though maybe now we're understanding better why EMILY's List isn't winning more races. But I'm sure Ellen Malcolm will blame that on men too.

Except for Her Anatomical Features, Clinton is No Feminist. But George Wallace Would be Proud of Her Today.

BUZZFLASH EDITOR'S BLOG
by Mark Karlin
Editor and Publisher

Maybe we are naive, but we have always thought of progressivism -- in its ideal form -- as gender neutral. Men and women, people of all faiths and colors join together to promote the common good, peace and justice.

BuzzFlash has long championed the equality of people regardless of race, gender or religion.

So, as a male, it has taken me by surprise that so many avowed "Feminists" support Hillary Clinton merely because she has the anatomical features of a woman, when her policies and political style more closely mirror the more detestable side of "male" politics.

Does a true Feminist support "obliterating Iran"? Senator Clinton didn't even discuss the complexities behind the whole notion of Iran hypothetically attacking Israel, an ally with enough nuclear capability to "obliterate" the entire Middle East on its own. In short, wasn't it more Texas macho (think Bush and the Neo-Cons) for Clinton to offer her "obliterate" comment than reassuring Feminist diplomacy?..........

...................

Wouldn't a Feminist have voted for the banning of cluster bombs in civilian areas, instead of for their continued use in populated communities, where they particularly kill children?

Wouldn't a Feminist be supporting MoveOn.org's anti-war work and party activists for peace instead of denouncing them as extemists?

Would a Feminist have stood by and said nothing during the slaughter in Rwanda?

Would a Feminist have sat back and let the Bush Administration run roughshod through our civil liberties?

Would a Feminist, today, May 8th, channel the ghost of George Wallace and openly run as the candidate of "white" people "who are hard-working" (as compared to those "other" non-white ones -- we are to assume -- who are not)............

Clinton
Spurns Calls to Quit Race
Odds and Allegiances Shift Further to Obama

Washington Post Staff Writers
Now facing almost insurmountable odds, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (N.Y.) came under fresh pressure yesterday to end her campaign for the Democratic presidential nomination against Sen. Barack Obama (Ill.), but she vowed to remain in the race "until there is a nominee."

Clinton's narrow win in Indiana late Tuesday provided none of the boost that her campaign advisers had anticipated. Her small margin, coupled with Obama's runaway victory in the North Carolina primary, shifted the dynamics of the Democratic race dramatically and sharply against her overnight.

In a conference call with reporters, campaign officials offered as upbeat an assessment of the contest as they could muster. Asked whether Clinton had discussed dropping out, senior adviser Howard Wolfson flatly told reporters: "No.".......

Clinton Slams "Activist Base of the Democratic Party"--Private Remarks Reveal Contempt for Dems
by Dean Powers

Almost 24 hours have passed since the Huffington Post published a damning audio of Clinton disparaging the “activist base of the Democratic Party,” and the New York Times has absolutely ignored it. By this time last week, the Times had written about 258 stories about Obama’s “elitist” views, as revealed in, like, 16 words in San Francisco.
Just after her defeats on Super Tuesday last February, Hillary
told the VIPs, "We have been less successful in caucuses because it brings out the activist base of the Democratic Party. MoveOn didn't even want us to go into Afghanistan. I mean, that's what we're dealing with. And you know they turn out in great numbers. And they are very driven by their view of our positions, and it's primarily national security and foreign policy that drives them. I don't agree with them. They know I don't agree with them. So they flood into these caucuses and dominate them and really intimidate people who actually show up to support me."...........

Clinton-Obama Debate: ABC Decides Top Issues Facing Americans Are Gaffes, Flag Pins and '60s Radicals
By Greg Mitchell
NEW YORK In perhaps the most embarrassing performance by the media in a major presidential debate in years, ABC News hosts Charles Gibson and George Stephanopolous focused mainly on trivial issues as Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama faced off in Philadelphia.Wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the health care and mortgage crises, the overall state of the economy and dozens of other pressing issues had to wait for their few moments in the sun as Obama was pressed to explain his recent "bitter" gaffe and relationship with Rev. Wright (seemingly a dead issue) and not wearing a flag pin while Clinton had to answer again for her Bosnia trip exaggerations. Then it was back to Obama to defend his slim association with a former '60s radical -- a question that came out of rightwing talk radio and Sean Hannity on TV, but delivered by former Bill Clinton aide Stephanopolous. This approach led to a claim that Clinton's husband pardoned two other '60s radicals. And so on.More time was spent on all of this than segments on getting out of Iraq and keeping people from losing their homes and other key issues. Gibson only got excited when he complained about anyone daring to raise taxes on his capital gains. .........

Disastrous Debate reprise

Wow. What the hell was that? Seriously, I'm a bit stunned. The level of discourse has reached a new low -- a very new low. To be clear, I don't think the debate was a disaster for Obama. He did fine. I think it was a disaster for our political system. It was the worst debate ever. Gibson and Stephanopoulos were horrible. The questions were literally right out of right wing talk radio. here And, for Hillary Clinton to get so giddy about the Wright question was really just sad. She was the official purveyor of fringe talking points. Shockingly so. And, she seemed to enjoy it. There's a reason people think Clinton is dishonest as we saw today in the findings of the Washington Post-ABC News poll. She's not only in this to win, she's in it to win dirty -- and to destroy Obama. She invoked Louis Farrakhan tonight for no reason -- just to say it. Give me a break. Throughout this campaign, Clinton has pursued GOP attacks against Obama. He has not gone there against her. ........

Hillary Clinton's Strategically Delayed Gratification
Submitted by pmcarpenter
Some folks in this increasingly cartoonish democracy are, fittingly, like the 'Peanuts' character with his blanket. They demand change and truth with a capital "t" from a political class that's oppressively top-heavy from status-quo prevaricators, but when a candid pol does amble by to say, OK, change is possible, but only after the country's raft of falsely reassuring securities is stripped bare, they cower in apoplectic fits of shock, disillusionment and emotional deprivation.
Then they race out and vote for yesterday. ...........

........The Politico's John Harris and Jim VandeHei think they know, based on interviews from Hillary's friends, who of course would never try to mislead the media. And I must say, the reporters' speculation is even more amusing than the media's farcical coverage of Obama's reflections on electoral bitterness. Because their speculation is this: Hillary is sincere.
Not only that, she has been, for reasons left unexplained, pulling her punches.
I told you it's amusing. Don't believe it?
Read it yourself:
She and Bill Clinton both devoutly believe that Obama’s likely victory is a disaster-in-waiting. Naive Democrats just don’t see it. And a timid, pro-Obama press corps, in their view, won’t tell the story. But Hillary Clinton won’t tell it, either.... Our conversations with Democrats who speak to the Clintons make plain that their public comments are only the palest version of what they really believe: that if Obama is the nominee, a likely Democratic victory would turn to a near-certain defeat.... Republicans will ... ruthlessly exploit openings that Clinton — in the genteel confines of an intraparty contest — never could. Top targets: Obama’s radioactive personal associations, his liberal ideology, his exotic life story, his coolly academic and elitist style.... That is why some friends describe Clinton as seeing herself on a mission to save Democrats from themselves.
There is so much that is not only counterintuitive but strikingly dunderheaded with that analysis, little remedial analysis is needed. It's that evident, starting with the last sentence of Hillary "sav[ing] Democrats from themselves" by going into a general election with the highest, virtually unyielding negatives ever registered by a presidential candidate. Some salvation....................

what's up with this?

by Frank James
Was Terry McAuliffe, chairman of Sen. Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign, engaging in his own sort of hedging strategy at a recent meeting of Washington State Democrats? Or was the former Democratic National Committee chair engaging in a kumbayah, all-us-Democrats-are-in-this-together moment?
McAuliffe attended the regional caucuses of the Washington State Democrats over the weekend and graciously posed with some grass-roots Democrats.
What's really interesting, as you can see from these photos, is that McAuliffe posed with supporters of Sen. Barack Obama's presidential campaign and that a beaming McAuliffe helped them hold up their large Obama signs for the camera. McAuliffe is wearing his Clinton button but it's dwarfed by the Obama sign he's holding..........

an interesting find

by jake tapper at abc news. perhaps she was ONCE AGAIN over tired? hmmmmm

i am just waiting to see how long now (i REFUSE to link to them) continues to endorse her.

In Oregon, Clinton Makes False Claim About Her Iraq Record Vs. Obama's
Jake Tapper
In Eugene, Ore., Saturday. Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., attempted to change the measure by which anyone might assess who criticized the Iraq war first, her or Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., by saying those keeping records should start in January 2005, when Obama joined the Senate. (A measure that conveniently avoids her October 2002 vote to authorize use of force against Iraq at a time that Obama was speaking out against the war.) She claimed that using that measure, she criticized the war in Iraq before Obama did.
But Clinton's claim was false.
Clinton on Saturday told Oregonians, "when Sen. Obama came to the Senate he and I have voted exactly the same except for one vote. And that happens to be the facts. We both voted against early deadlines. I actually starting criticizing the war in Iraq before he did."
It's an odd way to measure opposition to the war -- comparing who gave the first criticism of the war in Iraq starting in January 2005, ignoring Obama's opposition to the war throughout 2003 and 2004. (And Clinton's vote for it.)
But even if one were to employ this "Start Counting in January 2005" measurement, Clinton did not criticize the war in Iraq first............

John Byrne
Man that broke Lewinsky scandal now target of Clinton news machine
The man who broke the story that nearly derailed her husband's presidency continues to get first dibs from Sen. Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign.
Clinton's tax returns were leaked early to the conservative website The Drudge Report, "who has been extremely hard on Hillary for months — as good proof as any since the time of Machiavelli that it's better to be feared than loved,"
"according to Politico.
Clinton has also leaked her fundraising numbers first to Drudge in the past.
Matt Drudge came to prominence during the Bill Clinton Administration when he leaked a report Newsweek was holding on Monica Lewinsky's sexual relationship with the president.
The Washington Times reported in 2007 that Drudge and the Web have played important strategic roles in the Clinton campaign.
"The New York Democrat's third-quarter [2007] fundraising blowout was leaked to the Drudge Report," the Times said. "She made sure an Iowa newspaper printed her comments that she found Sen. Barack Obama's answer to a foreign-policy question 'irresponsible' and 'naive.' She also uses her "Hillary Hub" campaign creation to break news.".............

They think they're owed this -- just like Obama supporters think they're owed this." Limbaugh continued: "These women have paid their dues. They've been married two or three times; they've had two or three abortions; they've done everything that feminism asked them to do. They have cut men out of their lives; they have devoted themselves to causes and careers. And this -- the candidacy of Hillary Clinton -- is the culmination of all of these women's efforts." He further stated: "And if it gets stolen from them, in their minds -- not actually stolen, but if the country or if the Democrat [sic] Party rejects this wonderfully great, lying woman in exchange for a rookie, radical black guy who can't tell the time of day, they are going to be so miffed. They are going to be so upset."
Limbaugh went on to claim: "[T]his is what the Democrat Party has sown ... The blacks one part of the constituency, the women another part. And both of them think they're owed this by the party, and if whoever doesn't get this -- the Hillary side, the Obama side -- they're going to think the party screwed them." .........

Ann Coulter Sort of Compares Obama's First Book to Hitler's 'Mein Kampf'
By Dave Astor

NEW YORK In her latest column, conservative firebrand Ann Coulter sort of compares Barack Obama's first book to Adolf Hitler's "Mein Kampf."The piece, posted starting last night on Coulter's Web site, is headlined "Obama's Dimestore 'Mein Kampf.'" Coulter says of the Democratic candidate's "Dreams From My Father" autobiography: "Has anybody read this book? Inasmuch as the book reveals Obama to be a flabbergasting lunatic, I gather the answer is no. Obama is about to be our next president: You might want to take a peek. If only people had read 'Mein Kampf.'"The weekly Universal Press Syndicate columnist goes on to slam Obama for the complaints about racism he included in his 1995 book. "Forget Rev. Jeremiah Wright -- Wright is Booker T. Washington compared to this guy," Coulter concludes.Back in 2005, Coulter was among the many conservatives criticizing U.S. Sen. Richard Durbin (D-Ill.) for using a Nazi comparison when discussing America's treatment of Guantanamo prisoners.......

Loyalty to My Country

My recent endorsement of Barack Obama for president has been the subject of much discussion and consternation -- particularly among supporters of Hillary Clinton. Led by political commentator James Carville, who makes a living by being confrontational and provocative, Clinton supporters have speculated about events surrounding this endorsement and engaged in personal attacks and insults.
While I certainly will not stoop to the low level of Mr. Carville, I feel compelled to defend myself against character assassination and baseless allegations.
Carville has
made it very clear that this is a personal attack -- driven by his own sense of what constitutes loyalty. It is this kind of political venom that I anticipated from certain Clinton supporters and I campaigned against in my own run for president. .........
