because this is important

i didn't read about his racist rants in the msm. did you?

oh it's important all right. all of these town hall 'protesters' feel the SAME way sodini did. (well most of them do). all of the 'news' casters on cable that whip up the right wing ravers feel this way. it's the tip of the iceberg. i have a feeling we ain't seen NOTHING yet. i pray (literally) i am wrong

National Press Omits Racist, Anti-Obama Aspects of PA Fitness Center Shooter’s Diary

Two related news stories, one you couldn’t miss, and the other you almost couldn’t find: a gunman opened fire on a women’s exercise class last night at a fitness center in the Pittsburgh area, and this same gunman kept a diary filled with racist rants, some directed explicitly at President Obama. Again, coverage of the incident itself, including the fact of a diary, was all but universal; but only today did the folks at Editor & Publisher point out that the AP and others had ignored the clearly anti-Obama aspects of the diary..................

hmmmmmmmmmmm 4,500

is almost the same number as the united states service members who have lost their lives in an unjust, illegal and immoral iraq war
THAT
the american public and lawmakers will NOT demand a halt to

4,500

Military analysts named in Times exposé appeared or were quoted more than 4,500 times on broadcast nets, cables, NPR
....................On April 20, The New York Times published an article by investigative reporter David Barstow that detailed the connection between numerous media military analysts and the Pentagon and defense industries. Barstow reported that "the Bush administration has used its control over access and information in an effort to transform" media military analysts, many of whom have clients or work for companies with an interest in obtaining Pentagon contracts, "into a kind of media Trojan horse -- an instrument intended to shape terrorism coverage from inside the major TV and radio networks." A Media Matters review found that since January 1, 2002, the analysts named in Barstow's article -- many identified as having ties to the defense industry -- collectively appeared or were quoted as experts more than 4,500 times on ABC, ABC News Now, CBS, CBS Radio Network, NBC, CNN, CNN Headline News, Fox News, MSNBC, CNBC, and NPR in segments covering the Iraq war both before and after the invasion, as well as numerous other national security or government policy issues.
A spreadsheet listing each of the analysts' appearances documented by Media Matters is available

i was talking to someone the other day

who struck me as being fairly intelligent (by that i mean they could finish a sentence, hold a conversation, walk and talk at the same time. NOT that they solved fermet's theorem* or anything) and THEY thought obama was a muslim...so it's STILL out there.

Leading Newspapers Perpetuated Obama-Muslim Myth on Day of IN Primary
Posted by Brad Jacobson
Media Matters posted a piece yesterday afternoon about how the right-wing Washington Times earlier in the day "quoted [an] Indiana man saying Obama is 'a Muslim' without noting the assertion is false."
A fine catch.
Media Matters also smartly showed how a responsible journalist reports such incidents:
By contrast, after quoting the same man in its own article, the Chicago Sun-Times wrote that "Obama has never been a Muslim, but bogus e-mails accuse him of being a Muslim who put his hand on a copy of the Quran to be sworn into the U.S. Senate and refusing to say the Pledge of Allegiance."................

*one of my favorites by the way, as far as theorems go

why is everyone up in arms about rev wright

and no one is saying ANYTHING about 'it'. 'it' goes on to say (allegedly joke) 'it' kills in klan related murders ON CASUAL FRIDAYS. 'it' gets invited on msm to talk. why? why isn't 'it' held in contempt? what makes 'it' an expert? why wouldn't msm ostracize 'it' after 'it' joked about killing (what can only assume to be people of color)? why isn't the print medium (including the net) calling for 'its' shunning?

since i am quoting from 'it', loath that i am to do it, i have to link to 'it'
it's website

He said we are a country that sent "over 4,000 American boys and girls of every race to die over a lie." And Wright said it is a country "where I can worship God on Sunday morning wearing a black clergy robe and kill others on Sunday evening wearing a white Klan robe." (Unless, like me, you do all your Klan-related murdering on "casual Fridays.")

Ann Coulter Jokes About Lynching, Still on CNN
Posted by Jeffrey Feldman, Huffington Post
As usual, Ann Coulter's newest round of violence-tinged pundit appearances included going on CNN to call millions of Americans "traitors" (treason is a crime punishable by the death penalty) and suggest that Sen. Barack Obama is a covert terrorist assassin.
What did Ann Coulter do this week to earn this right to appear on the most trusted name in news?
She published a weekly syndicated column laced with violent-rhetoric in which she suggested that an Obama Presidency would result in the destruction of the U.S. by terrorists and--she joked about lynching Africa-Americans.......

Clinton Slams "Activist Base of the Democratic Party"--Private Remarks Reveal Contempt for Dems
by Dean Powers

Almost 24 hours have passed since the Huffington Post published a damning audio of Clinton disparaging the “activist base of the Democratic Party,” and the New York Times has absolutely ignored it. By this time last week, the Times had written about 258 stories about Obama’s “elitist” views, as revealed in, like, 16 words in San Francisco.
Just after her defeats on Super Tuesday last February, Hillary
told the VIPs, "We have been less successful in caucuses because it brings out the activist base of the Democratic Party. MoveOn didn't even want us to go into Afghanistan. I mean, that's what we're dealing with. And you know they turn out in great numbers. And they are very driven by their view of our positions, and it's primarily national security and foreign policy that drives them. I don't agree with them. They know I don't agree with them. So they flood into these caucuses and dominate them and really intimidate people who actually show up to support me."...........

further delving into

the pentagon supplying talking heads to msm outlets. this time, it's MORE than television (i posted the link to the original nyt article yesterday)

Pentagon's Media Manipulation on War Extended to Newspapers
By Greg Mitchell
NEW YORK The New York Times today published a massive piece by David Barstow on how the Pentagon for years has secretly deployed a large crew of retired military officers to flood the airwaves – network and cable – to offer pro-war talking points to the unsuspecting viewers (see other E&P articles on this site). The focus is on TV, not print, but Barstow does reveal that the Times itself published “at least” nine op-eds by members of the Pentagon’s military/media cabal, and the Pentagon helped two of them craft a Wall Street Journal piece. What may go overlooked, however, is that all of the leading newspapers also frequently quoted the same cabal members, always in support of the war and the administration. This is not to place the papers in the same category as the TV outlets which used these people 1) regularly 2) gave them true prominence and never asked questions and 3) often paid them per appearance. However, it will be interesting to trace how these same “analysts” got the talking points delivered via newspapers, as well. What follows are just some examples that E&P has identified so far, which happen to emerge from the pages of The New York Times. Other papers widely quoted the retired military officers, but the Times' archives is easier to search for this purpose. And, in fact, most of the "analysts" identified by name in the Barstow article today were never quoted much if at all by the paper previously..........

linda milazzo is right on the mark

the media is ALL OVER roger clemens testimony. they're all over certain celebutards EVERY move. they are ALL over who is zooming who. if you walk down a busy street full of pedestrians and you ask them
1) do you know who anna nicole was?
and then you ask them
2) do you know what winter soldiers are all about

they will say YES to one of them and give you a blank stare at the other.

what the f**k is wrong with us?

Corporate Media Ignored Winter Soldier. Senators Biden & Kerry - Will YOU??
Corporate owned networks and cable TV are private for profit enterprises driven by MONEY -- not by truth. Network and cable "news" is private for profit infotainment driven by MONEY -- not by truth. Delivering truth and educating viewers are not the goals of corporate media. Increasing viewership, attracting advertisers, and cronyism are. Even when reporting the invasion of Iraq, corporate media mitigates or inflames the story to advance its selfish goals.
Were presenting the truth and enlightening the populace the intent of corporate media, the March 13th through March 16th Winter Soldier Tribunal would have been televised. Instead, it was ignored. Were it not for independent media like Free Speech TV and Pacifica Radio (which broadcast the original Winter Soldier tribunal in 1971), and internet streaming via the Iraq Veterans Against the War website (ivaw.org), there would have been a total blackout of the live testimonials of the Iraq and Afghanistan veterans. If corporate media had employed the professionalism and integrity of New Media, it would have broadcast Winter Soldier, whereby a larger audience would have witnessed revelatory testimony by over 100 impassioned heroes.................
