U.S. Cites 91 Percent Rise In Terrorist Acts in Iraq

The number of terrorism incidents in Iraq -- and resulting deaths, injuries and kidnappings -- skyrocketed from 2005 to 2006, according to statistics released by U.S. counterterrorism officials yesterday.
Of the 14,338 reported terrorist attacks worldwide last year, 45 percent took place in Iraq, and 65 percent of the global fatalities stemming from terrorism occurred in Iraq. In 2005, Iraq accounted for 30 percent of the worldwide terrorist attacks.
The figures, compiled by the National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC) and released with the annual State Department Country Reports on Terrorism, showed that the number of incidents in Iraq rose 91 percent, from 3,468 in 2005 to 6,630 in 2006..............

Impeachment's too slow, even if it was politically possible. What needs to happen is the Repigs themselves need to shove these rat bastards out -- Bush and President Cheney at the same time. If they don't, the GOP will take all the blame for how bad things are going to be in 2008. And I have a feeling things are going to be veeeery bad. The Rapeublicons will be reduced to a rump party of the unreconstructed South.
As much as I'd like to see that happen, I'd rather see fewer deaths in Iraq and avoid the possibility of a genocidal nuclear war against Iran. If their own throws the "Mission Accomplisher" and his "Enormous Success"or under the bus, making Nancy Pelosi the interim president, the Rethugs will have someone to whine about, and that's what they do best. But they have to back-stab the Bush Crime Family by this summer, or it will be too late.
bukko, i don't understand why every single person of voting age (in this country) does not unite with ONE VOICE and dump their asses. every and any party should realize how horrid this administration is. clinton got a blow job and the world practically came to an end. well over 3,000 of our men and women have been murdered by this administration and NOTHING HAPPENS TO THEM? what's wrong with THAT picture?
