.....DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, Aug. 7 - United States diplomatic missions in
Saudi Arabia will be closed for at least two days in response to possible
threats against American buildings, embassy officials said today.
The embassy
took the unusual, but not unprecedented, decision to close the embassy in the
Saudi capital, Riyadh, along with its consulates in Dhahran and Jidda on Monday
and Tuesday, in response to intelligence suggesting an attack was imminent, an
embassy spokesperson said. The embassy also repeated advice for American
citizens to be especially vigilant and to take appropriate steps to increase
their security.
