Juan Cole has excellent coverage of what is going on over there each day. I never miss reading his site.

He references papers from around the world, plus he is a prof of mid eastern affairs.

It's amazing how "things are looking up" but the violence isn't going down. We've turned the entire nation into a case-study in mob-rule . . . it's like we transported our inner-city problems from when Reagan was president over to Iraq, gave them bigger weapons and took away any chance to escape the 'hood.

What a disaster.

Heard something on the news about sending even more troops after the September report to congress, the term "resurg" was used. Don't know where they are going to get enough troops to keep the levels they have now. Hell, they might try to call up the more of the Individual Ready Reserves and call back retirees like me. But this is just idle speculation on my part.
