At the annual congressional picnic yesterday, Pres. George Bush, addressing the crowd of 1,500, including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, suggested that the African American musicians performing for the event should earn their keep after they performed:..........

this is right from the whitehouse website: (i'm NOT making this shite up. wish with all my might i was, but i'm not)

THE PRESIDENT: Kermit Ruffins and the Barbeque Swingers, right out of New Orleans, Louisiana. (Applause.)
MR. RUFFINS: Thank you. Thanks for having us. We're glad to be here.
THE PRESIDENT: Proud you're here. Thanks for coming. You all enjoy yourself. Make sure you pick up all the trash after it's over. (Laughter.)

Some things are funny . . . and some things could never be funny because they're racist and demeaning.

Elite White Plantation Aristocracy like Bush . . . not funny.

Right before I blew up my first site I had decided to step away from politics because Bush and crew had pretty much exhausted me from any kind of outrage and surprise of their deeds. Now this new statement does not surprise me, he has just said far too many stupid things, but the level of stupidity and racism this one sinks to is just beyond comprehension. Did this get reported on TV?

What Beach Bum said, but add some rage.

You might want to check the video on the White House page with the transcript. It looked to me like the comment was pretty clearly directed at the audience, even gesturing towards the audience as he talked, not the musicians.

I take back what I said. Though I still think he has to be racist to have let all of what happened in NOLA go on and still have not fixed it to this day.

Just trying to keep it real on the left side.
