i was at my pop's house yesterday (i don't have cable) and on one of the movie channels i stumbled upon last of the mississippi jukes
i was so enthralled, so exicted, so entertained, so saddened, so happy. i didn't see it from the beginning (i will get a copy of this movie) but what i saw not only were performances by unbelievable blues entertainers, but history of the mississippi juke, the state they are in now AND insights from the blues players/singers themselves as well as the club owners. (i especially loved the subway and it's bucket o' beer)
this is the same man who ALSO did another spectacular movie i stumbled across on cable new orleans music in exile
i cannot recommend these movies enough. i just can't . if you're a fan of blues, jazz or making joyous noise, RUN to get a copy of these (i've not seen anything else by him, but he's got quite the stable of movies. i'll go through them one by one)
robert mugge

(p.s. there are far too many artists to mention. some you've heard of, some not. i love most of them. i just have to link to theresa andersson though. i had never heard of her prior to seeing her in music in exile. i'm enthralled)
