Stewart takes ‘anonymous’ revenge on GOP senator

By David Edwards

To the surprise of many observers, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) read anonymous comments about Judge Sotomayor in her confirmation hearing Tuesday.

“ABC’s World News and NBC’s Nightly News reported Lindsey Graham’s citation of anonymous criticism of Sonia Sotomayor published in the Almanac of the Federal Judiciary without noting that Sotomayor’s 2nd Circuit Court colleague reportedly called such criticism ’sexist,’” Media Matters complained.

The Daily Show’s Jon Stewart found some anonymous quotes from the Internet about Graham to read on the air Thursday.

Some choice examples:

“Lindsey Graham takes it up the cornhole.”
“He is a sad sack of shit and is an embarrassment to the state of South Carolina.”
“He’s such a white Southern pig racist idiot douchebag.”

The audience roared in laughter after Stewart also revealed that Graham is “actually featured on the ‘men who look like old lesbians dot blogspot site.’”....................

hey barack, W T F?

i (as well as millions and millions of others) elected you because you promised me certain things. CHANGE was one of them. i'm not naive or even stupid (most of the time). i knew i wasn't going to like or agree with everything you were going to do. there are things you MUST do that the american public will never know the reasons for (nor should we)

this is NOT one of them. the evil regime run by king george and the big dick MUST be exposed and they ALL must be made accountable. period (oh and p.s. don't you think this is going to give

Judge Questions Justice Dept. Effort to Keep Cheney Remarks Secret
Washington Post Staff Writer

A federal judge yesterday sharply questioned an assertion by the Obama administration that former Vice President Richard B. Cheney's statements to a special prosecutor about the Valerie Plame case must be kept secret, partly so they do not become fodder for Cheney's political enemies or late-night commentary on "The Daily Show."

U.S. District Judge Emmet G. Sullivan expressed surprise during a hearing here that the Justice Department, in asserting that Cheney's voluntary statements to U.S. Attorney Patrick J. Fitzgerald were exempt from disclosure, relied on legal claims put forward last October by a Bush administration political appointee, Stephen Bradbury. The department asserted then that the disclosure would make presidents and vice presidents reluctant to cooperate voluntarily with future criminal investigations...........

Jon Stewart to Fox host: 'You and Shep...have your moments'
David Edwards and Muriel Kane
When Fox News's Chris Wallace appeared on the Daily Show on Wednesday, Jon Stewart was prepared with footage to confront him on Fox's unrepentant Obama-bashing. However, Wallace revealed himself to be fully aware of Fox's biases and even admitted he had been moved by Barack Obama's election.

Wallace began by announcing that when Karl Rove brought cookies in the shape of a Fox News screen to the set on election night, he had handed two to Wallace, saying, "This one, specifically, give to Jon Stewart."

Stewart took the cookie nervously, as if wondering whether it might explode in his hands. When Wallace insisted that he eat it on the spot, Stewart responded solemnly, "Let me tell you something. ... Let me tell you while I eat it. Karl Rove can't hurt me any more.".....

Daily Show skewers right wing hypocrisy following Palin nomination
David Edwards and Nick Juliano
So here's a news flash: political talking heads will say whatever they need to advance the case for their candidate and disparage the opposing candidate -- if the sky needs to be green for John McCain to get elected, Karl Rove will go on Fox News preaching to anyone who will listen about the emerald hue above.

Naturally, this should come as no surprise. But the rank hypocrisy on display over the last few weeks has been so blatant -- as conservatives backtrack from months of harping against inexperience, claims of misogyny and the evils of teen pregnancy in the wake of Sarah Palin becoming their vice presidential nominee -- that Daily Show host Jon Stewart couldn't resist a package lampooning the doublespeak Wednesday night. ............

Daily Show" comics venture to Iraq

By Paul J. Gough
NEW YORK (Hollywood Reporter) - Fake-news program "The Daily Show With Jon Stewart" is taking a page from serious news organizations this week with on-the-scene reports from the war zone in Iraq.
Correspondent Rob Riggle, who has combat experience as a major in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, spent five days in Iraq last week with "Daily Show" writer Kevin Bleyer and field producer Glenn Clements. They went with a USO sketch comedy tour known as "Operation Feel the Heat" -- armed with small, handheld cameras -- and also brought back video that will be used for "Daily Show" about the troops and their lives in Iraq.
Although "Daily Show" spends time on topics related to Iraq and often has one of its correspondents appear against a greenscreen that simulates the Middle Eastern country, it's the first time the show has gone the extra step and visited Iraq.......
