Stewart’s ’sh*tty daydream’ recalls attacks on anti-war protesters

Comedy Central host Jon Stewart has access to video archives, and he’s not afraid to use them.

Analyzing angry conservative protests against health care reform, Stewart experienced what he jokingly called “the shittiest day-dream I ever had” and flashed back to a time, not so long ago, when anti-war protesters were smeared as “anti-American” and even “Nazis” by right-wing pundits.

After a series of clips showing conservatives screaming things like, “We’re scared of Obama!” and “Watch Glenn Beck!” he zeroed in on an ABC News interview with Matt Kibbe, president of Washington, D.C. lobbying firm “Freedom Works,” founded by former Republican majority leader Dick Armey..............

Stewart takes ‘anonymous’ revenge on GOP senator

To the surprise of many observers, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) read anonymous comments about Judge Sotomayor in her confirmation hearing Tuesday.

“ABC’s World News and NBC’s Nightly News reported Lindsey Graham’s citation of anonymous criticism of Sonia Sotomayor published in the Almanac of the Federal Judiciary without noting that Sotomayor’s 2nd Circuit Court colleague reportedly called such criticism ’sexist,’” Media Matters complained.

The Daily Show’s Jon Stewart found some anonymous quotes from the Internet about Graham to read on the air Thursday.

Some choice examples:

“Lindsey Graham takes it up the cornhole.”
“He is a sad sack of shit and is an embarrassment to the state of South Carolina.”
“He’s such a white Southern pig racist idiot douchebag.”

The audience roared in laughter after Stewart also revealed that Graham is “actually featured on the ‘men who look like old lesbians dot blogspot site.’”....................

When Fox News's Chris Wallace appeared on the Daily Show on Wednesday, Jon Stewart was prepared with footage to confront him on Fox's unrepentant Obama-bashing. However, Wallace revealed himself to be fully aware of Fox's biases and even admitted he had been moved by Barack Obama's election.

Wallace began by announcing that when Karl Rove brought cookies in the shape of a Fox News screen to the set on election night, he had handed two to Wallace, saying, "This one, specifically, give to Jon Stewart."

Stewart took the cookie nervously, as if wondering whether it might explode in his hands. When Wallace insisted that he eat it on the spot, Stewart responded solemnly, "Let me tell you something. ... Let me tell you while I eat it. Karl Rove can't hurt me any more.".....
