i've been eating pine nuts since i was a sprout. ever since i started cooking (as a child mind you), i've always used pine nuts. i've NEVER experienced this much less heard of it.
however, i do always buy from a source i trust
AND of course they're way too expensive to eat 'em by the fistful
perhaps that's an issue too.
