Well that was probably one of the best and easiest explanations I have seen them put out so far...which is good...they need that for the masses of crying mothers who keep their children home from school when the President speaks.
I see they've dressed it up a bit from the Facebook version (no graphics on that one), and edited out a few things. But basically it does nicely explain the admittedly very difficult concept of "The Public Option"...first, that it's an option...and second...that it's public... ("Two things must ye know about the Wise Woman...")
Mr Reich is a model of perfectly reasoned, perfectly measured presentation, but you know the whole time he's thinking "Eat my shorts, falangist pig-dogs!"
I like it because I have to send very often complicated (autism related) information out to families who are overwhelmed and sometimes not very sophisticated or even have some language barriers. So we have a crude saying in the office of "dumb it down to a 5th grade level." That might sound mean, but really it isn't. That guarantees that your entire reading audience can understand what you are trying to tell them no matter what language barriers or level of education or they have. Our mission is to ensure that everyone at least understand the general message.
Kinda same deal with this insurance thing. Was just nice to sometime "simple" out there.
I second that completely. And lest I'm coming across as the crank elitist lefty that I undoubtedly am, let me say I have no problem with people needing words of one syllable and getting them. In fact, if the Obama Administration had gotten this particular PSA out sooner, we might have been spared a lot of the public spewing by people who don't have the excuse of language barrier or cognitive deficit.
