i heard col (ret) douglas macgregor being interviewed (and he took some phone in questions as well) on an npr radio show. i was mighty impressed with what he had to say. i'm not sure our politics match but he sure did seem very honest, very knowledgeable and very honorable to me. here's something from frontline i found INTERVIEW DOUGLAS MACGREGOR
what most impressed me yesterday was the simple fact col macgregor was stating. a muslim arab land will never in a million kazillion years sit idly by while a non-muslim (he said christian) land occupied them. it's simple and it's right on the mark and it's true
and then there is the storm over what gen (ret) wesley clark said. if you LISTEN to what he said, he didn't DIS mccain. what he said was just 'cause mccain was in the military (pow) did NOT automatically qualify him to be prez
Media in a frenzy, but Clark's comment not extraordinary or unprecedented
The media frenzy that has followed retired Gen. Wesley Clark's comments on the June 29 edition of CBS' Face the Nation is based on at least two false premises: first, that Clark attacked Sen. John McCain's military service, and second, that his comment -- that one's, in this case McCain's, military heroism alone does not establish his qualification to be president -- is in any way extraordinary or unusual. As Media Matters for America has noted, Clark did not attack McCain's military service; he praised McCain as a "hero." Moreover, Clark's comments were far from the first time someone has said of a war veteran running for president that his military service alone does not make him qualified to be president. .....
