Gore, U.N. Body Win Nobel Peace Prize

By DOUG MELLGREN The Associated Press Friday, October 12, 2007; 5:19 AM
OSLO, Norway -- Former Vice President Al Gore and the U.N.'s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change won the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize Friday for their efforts to spread awareness of man-made climate change and lay the foundations for counteracting it.
Gore won an Academy Award this year for his film "An Inconvenient Truth," a documentary on global warming, and had been widely expected to win the prize.

"His strong commitment, reflected in political activity, lectures, films and books, has strengthened the struggle against climate change," the citation said. "He is probably the single individual who has done most to create greater worldwide understanding of the measures that need to be adopted."
It cited Gore's awareness at an early stage "of the climatic challenges the world is facing.
The committee cited the Panel on Climate Change for two decades of scientific reports that have "created an ever-broader informed consensus about the connection between human activities and global warming." .......

I really wish he would run but every sign seems to suggest he is happy being the spokesman for his cause. He has said he will endorse a Democratic canidate during the primary. I wonder who it will be?

What he should do is go to either Edwards or Obama and make a deal . . . they run with him as second on the Gore ticket. In exchange they'd get unprecedented Domestic authority, President of the Senate would become a job with serious power, and they get his complete support in eight years for their own presidential run.

Further, he should make an immediate announcement that the field of Democratic candidates is so strong that he'd be honored to include EACH AND EVERY ONE of them in his cabinet if they'd accept the appointment.

The landslide win would make history.
