Is Pink the New Color of Death for Women?

R.J. Reynolds has introduced a new cigarette targeted specifically towards women. You can tell that Camel No. 9 is a girl thing because it has lots of shocking pink on the box. According to the
New York Times,
"For decades, Camel has been a male-focused cigarette; only about 30 percent of Camel buyers are female. By comparison, for competitive brands like Marlboro and Newport, women comprise 40 percent to 50 percent of customers. Almost half of adult smokers are women, so that limited Camel's potential.
Wall Street analysts praise the introduction of Camel No. 9, in regular and menthol flavors, as a further step by the R. J. Reynolds, a unit of Reynolds American, toward a new marketing strategy. The goal is to refocus on the biggest, most popular -- and most profitable -- brands, which include Kool as well as Camel."...............

I don't see why they wouldn't target their marketing toward women . . . Viginia Slims and other brands have been doing it for years and years.

And, women will buy it. And more market share will go toward Camel.

One of the major reasons I quit my engineering job is that our newest large client was Philip Morris . . . and I refused to do for them what I did for Pop-tarts. I do have some convictions.

Of course, I've never been a smoker. Not one cigarette in my entire life.

of course i can't say that about me and pop tarts (not ONE pop tart in my whole life)

i admire your principals.

i couldn't work for a furrier or a slaughterhouse or be a lobbiest.

i read where some cab drivers somewhere (could even be in minneapolis) didn't want to pick people up at the airport that were carrying liquor. (closed bottles). it was against their beliefs. or supermaket clerks didn't want to check out pork products customers were trying to buy (of course those two examples were from one particular group but i am NOT singling them out - these examples just came to my mind). well that's just tough shite. when you are a clerk you check out what people buy. if you have issues with that, you find someplace else to work.
