this is EXACTLY what i'm talking about

NOTE: PLEASE SEE MY POSTING FROM YESTERDAY (i think it's about 4 before this one) ON THE SAME SUBJECT

yesterday i read YET ANOTHER article (i can't find the link or i would have linked to it) about vick being railroaded. it said there were other football players out there who beat their wives and no one gives a shite.

WELL THAT'S NOT TRUE. i have no idea who beats their wives and who doesn't. i care about that, but i sure don't care about football. it has NOTHING to do with this story. i don't care if vick is allowed to play again or not. THAT IS NOT THE POINT. the color of his skin is NOT the point, the amount of money he has or doesn't have is NOT the point, who he hangs out with is NOT the point. and this dude, cortland milloy certainly is missing the point. he is saying if you sit down and eat a steak dinner (which i do NOT by the way but that is neither here nor there) you are JUST as guilty as michael vick. he is also bringing guns into the story???????????? i say let's just change vick's name to oj and get it over with. declare him innocent

Animal Cruelty Isn't Judged on a Level Playing Field
By Courtland Milloy
While eating a porterhouse the other night, I began to see the steak for what it was: a hunk of meat, blood and bone. I managed to disgust myself even more by imagining that a charbroiled piece of pit bull would not have looked much different from the gristle of beef on my fork.
Then I came back to my senses and continued to enjoy my meal.

Too bad for Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick that people like me love dogs more than cows. Or, to put it another way, I prefer the taste of Angus and Hereford to Rottweiler and pit bull. Otherwise, the federal agents who recently charged Vick with dogfighting would have to arrest nearly all of us for participating in far worse acts of animal cruelty........
............Vick's case ought to be handled by a state's attorney, but it isn't. He is being prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Virginia. You'd think the guy had been caught smuggling a ton of heroin in the carcasses of dead poodles...........

yeah poor poor vick, he's being railroaded. we're unfairly persecuting him. hold on while i run to the loo and get a kleenex to wipe the tears from my eyes.......

From reading his columns for over ten years, I perceive Milloy hates most things related to white people, and probably dislikes white people intensely. In this case, it is the mostly-white law enforcement personel.

Why's it always gotta be about race and class??? Because America is RACIST and CLASSIST! That's why. Listen, I own (and I said own as in chattel) a dog. I love her immensely. I would never let her near this Vick guy. He should definitely be punished because we have laws against treating dogs and certain other animals the way he treated those dogs. However, I think what this Milloy fellow is saying is that we're really hipprocritical about which animals (people included) we care to protect. Personally, I don't think people should be allowed to cage birds for their entire lives- chickens included. That to me, is even more cruel than forcing cute little doggies to tear each other up. At least it's in a doggy's nature to fight. It is not in a birdy's nature to sit in a cage and look pretty for people.

Secondly, I think black people have lotsa reasons to either hate or be afriad of white people. White people get over it. Your people enslaved several million blacks, treated them like Vick did his dogs, disempowered and raped their original continent (Africa) and have set up a system that is such that only money and European looks get you somewhere. Guess who's going to suffer if only money and European looks get you somewhere? Why, mostly the descendants of those slaves will suffer. Wait, is this why most black people are either poor, uneducated, angry or frightened of white people? Ding, ding, ding!

anon 1, i'm not familiar enough with him to be able to agree (or disagree) with you on that one.

anon 2, if i had not seen a picture of vick i sure the hell wouldn't have know he was black. i don't care. the first thing i thought of when i read about the dog fighting alleged against him WAS NOT what his color was! actually it was NO WHERE in my thoughts at all. i brought color into a couple of my commentaries ONLY in answer to some of the articles i read. i was angry. i know MY feelings have NOTHING to do with the color of his skin.

oh i agree with you. it is NOT easy being a person of color in america (and elsewhere). ANY color (other than white). there is no doubt in my mind people of color get the wrong end of the deal in LOTS of cases.

i don't like violence. i don't like kids being hurt, i don't like the elderly being hurt, i don't like women being hurt and i sure as shite do NOT like animals getting hurt either. (oh and i don't like men getting hurt either.)

i don't like the idea of animals in cages or even eating animals. i kept my strong beliefs out of this though. just on a moral level what vick did, tortured dogs, IS WRONG. period.
