(i don't believe the post attacked any part of the inpatient hospital progam at all. they focused on the outpatient programs some of which included facilities that housed wounded troops and their families )

Walter Reed Stories Factual But Unfair, Medical Chief Says

The Army's surgeon general yesterday criticized stories in The Washington Post disclosing problems at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, saying the series unfairly characterized the living conditions and care for soldiers recuperating from wounds at the hospital's facilities.
"I'm not sure it was an accurate representation," Lt. Gen. Kevin C. Kiley, chief of the Army Medical Command, told reporters during a news conference..........
.........While acknowledging "pretty distressing" conditions in some rooms at Building 18, Kiley said the problems were neither widespread nor symptoms of a system that allows soldiers to languish. The building is not "emblematic of a process of Walter Reed that has abandoned soldiers and their families," said Kiley, who was commander at the hospital before becoming surgeon general in 2004........

How much evidence is necessary before more people conclude that the "support the troops" mantra is a purposeful deception? These young people are cannon fodder for corporate profits and geopolitical gain. They have been deceived into fighting a war and others have been deceived into thinking that leaders of the political right are actually sincere in their assertions about war and the troops. People who tout so-called Christian values while beating the drums of war either can't discern good from evil or are actively being deceptive.
War is evil, pure and simple. The only humane way to "support the troops" is by ending all wars and seeking true and just solutions to human needs.

yes on my connecticut blog i posted a story about a homeless vet. it had a happy ending. people all pulled together and found him an aparatment. he had a dog and wouldn't live anywhere that wouldn't accept his dog too!

there was an article in today's nyt (i think it was the times. i am going to re-find it and post it tomorrow) about how this war is effecting the families of those who have been on MULTIPLE tours of the middle east.
it's immoral what is going on.
