Lott on Low-Income Heating Pleas: "I thought we were having global warming."
How cruel and indifferent is Republican Senator Trent Lott of Mississippi? With a bipartisan alliance that included Rhode Island Democrat Jack Reed and moderate Republican Olympia Snowe of Maine arguing passionately in favor of badly-needed emergency funding for the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), Lott took to the microphone to give his take on providing warm homes to the elderly and disabled.“What is it we are not going to give people for free? Is there any limit? Is there any limit to the amount of money?” asked Lott, adding snidely “I thought we were having global warming.”

(that was from the bob geiger blog. ya gotta love it because his banner says; i didn't vote for mr bush - let's just leave it at that - johnny cash)

I wish Trent Lott just for once had to live on around 600 a month like the typical disabled ssi recipient. Then when he gets a 300 or 400 dollar heating bill let us see how well he buys medicine when half of it isnt paid for any more any more due to cuts in medicaid and let's see where he gets moeny to pay the rent since fema still hasn't helped many with housing that was destroyed by katrina and let's see how well he pays for food and other necessities. He makes sick.

you're so right patricia!

static brain; you're on the mark too. i try never to wish anyone ill will. but for JUST ONE WEEK if the asswipe COULD walk and live in THEIR shoes............things would be a LOTT (sorry i couldn't help it) different.

as i mentioned to graeme on his blog, our attorney general approved the sale of oil from venezuala to some of the more needy here(connecticut). i think it has to pass through some other committee or something or other, but at least people ARE aware of some of the problems that face every day people. my dad is elderly and lives on a limited income. if i didn't chip in on his oil bill each month, he'd be up shite's creek for sure
