i'm not the least bit surprised. disgusted, yes. repulsed, yes. sickened, yes. mortified, yes. there are devils in this world (i don't believe in hell, i believe evil exists and it is human). karadzic is the devil but i also believe in my heart and soul members of our government (not all) are the devil as well. how they all sleep at night is beyond me. i personally only sleep 2 to 3 hours a night.

Americans were responsible for Karadzic's well being
Radovan Karadzic and former US negotiator Richard Holbrooke had signed a deal at the end of 1995, Serbian media said, adding that it entered into effect in 1996.

The Karadzic-Holbrooke pact called for Karadzic to give up leadership of his political party and to drop out of political life in return for his already existing war crimes indictment being scrapped, local media said.

The exclusive document is made up of four chapters. In the first part of the deal, Karadzic undertook to quit political life.

The second part of the deal envisioned the obligations of the US government i.e. to provide security for then Bosnian Serb leader, to provide funds and accommodation. The then US administration also undertook not to meddle with the members of his party's presidency.

According to the deal, the then US government undertook to provide $600.000 in local currency for Karadzic. The government also granted Karadzic a residential facility at a location previously agreed. The government also tasked at least six bodyguards to take care of Karadzic's safety...............

BELGRADE, Aug 2, 2008 (AFP) - Bosnian Serb wartime leader Radovan Karadzic was protected by the United States until a CIA phone bug caught him breaking the terms of his 'deal', Serb newspaper Blic reported Saturday, quoting a US intelligence source.

Partly echoing what Karadzic himself told the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) in his opening written submission, the paper claims Karadzic was secretly granted immunity in return for keeping a low profile.

"Karadzic, indicted for genocide and war crimes, was under the US protection until 2000, when the CIA intercepted his telephone conversation that clearly proved he personally chaired a meeting of his old political party," the daily quoted a "well-informed US intelligence source" as saying...............

SARAJEVO, Bosnia-Herzegovina (CNN) -- The outbreak of war seemed like a joke to Jasmina, then just 19 years old. She dreamed of being an economist and says she played with her toddler son and baby daughter as if they were toys.

But in April 1992, the Serb soldiers took over her city of Bijeljina, in northeast Bosnia near the border with Serbia, and began to kill, torture and terrorize the Muslims there in a brutal campaign of ethnic cleansing.

"Whole families were disappearing during the night. Sometimes we could see their bodies in the gardens, sometimes not even that," Jasmina said.

"The men from my family were beaten up the first day. ... My mother just disappeared. I never found out what happened."

Paramilitaries loyal to Arkan, the Serbian ultranationalist later indicted for crimes against humanity, came to the home Jasmina shared with her husband and extended family to search for valuables and weapons. When they found no guns they started beating her husband, said Jasmina who asked CNN not to use her last name to protect her children.

"Then they started torturing me. I lost consciousness. When I woke up, I was totally naked and covered in blood, and my sister-in-law was also naked and covered in blood. ... I knew I had been raped, and my sister-in-law, too." In a corner, she saw her mother-in-law, holding her children and crying..............

Baby panther adopted by dog
BELGRADE, Serbia (AP) — Man's best friend helped save this tiny cat. A 15-day-old female panther named Milica has been adopted by a Rhodesian Ridgeback after her mother refused to feed her and tried to kill her in the Belgrade zoo. "The mother panther has killed all her cubs since 1999," zookeeper Dragan Jovanovic said. "We believe she has been traumatized by the sound of NATO bombs" during airstrikes in the Serbian capital intended to stop former President Slobodan Milosevic's crackdown against ethnic Albanian separatists in 1999, he said............
