but apparently a judge did (at least for a while). it's about a man (A GOOD man according to his must-be-delusional-moms) who was CONVICTED of SEXUALLY assaulting a boy. after he got out, he and a friend (allegedly. i really hate saying it but i have to. he was indicted but NOT convicted of THIS crime. of course he WAS convicted of being a molester ) decided to cook up a scheme to falsify docs and pretend they were suing the VICTIM for defamation for millions. cook up as if they had WON i mean. it worked for a WHILE (and don't forget he was a GOOD man. his moms said so!)

so once again, the person who was assaulted is ONCE AGAIN assaulted. the article names the victim WITH his permission. he wanted it to be published. so the world would know what evil is possible

will someone please talk to david copeland-jackson's MOTHER and present reality to her? i'm just sayin'......................

D.C. Judge Is Duped in Defamation Conspiracy Against Ohio Victim

The judgment stood for one day before unraveling. It was a plot so off the wall, so bizarre, that U.S. District Judge Richard J. Leon said it was "like something out of a novel."

After serving a prison term for molesting an eighth-grader in Ohio, David Copeland-Jackson moved to the District to live with his mother. He e-mailed a buddy and together, federal authorities said, they came up with a plan that would fool a respected judge into issuing a $3 million defamation order against Copeland-Jackson's victim.

Copeland-Jackson relied on forged documents, the victim's unwitting assistance and the help of a 71-year-old paralegal who had become interested in his case. He even hired a handwriting expert and impersonated a private detective, authorities said.

Last month, a federal grand jury indicted Copeland-Jackson on charges of conspiring to commit perjury and obstruct justice. Copeland-Jackson, 36, of Southeast Washington, has pleaded not guilty.........

Judge under fire after child rapist gets just one year

A sixty-four-year-old who molested, raped and sodomized a four-year-old girl will serve just one year in jail, CNN reports.

Though he was originally sentenced to twenty years, he later had the majority of his sentence revoked as part of a plea deal.

“Some people think I could have given a different sentence, and I couldn’t,” District Judge Thomas Bartheld claimed in his defense. “In any plea bargain, where there is a negotiated plea, the court can’t change it.”

The judge is catching some heat for this case.

The Pryor Daily Times reports, “Oklahoma’s attorney general wants to know why a man who admitted to raping a McAlester girl did not also face charges for abusing her older brother. Two state legislators are separately calling for the removal of the judge who oversaw the controversial plea agreement that gave David Earls just one year in jail.”..................

JAKARTA, Indonesia (AP) — A Muslim cleric whose marriage to a 12-year-old girl triggered controversy in Indonesia has been detained along with the girl's father on suspicion of violating the child protection law, police said Wednesday.

Cleric Pujiono Cahyo Widianto, 43, wed the girl before thousands of people in Central Java province last August, arguing that he had committed no crime because he intended to wait until she reached puberty before consummating their relationship.

Police Detective Roy Siahaan said the cleric, who runs an Islamic boarding school and several businesses, was officially named a criminal suspect Tuesday following several days of questioning. He has not been charged but is in police detention.

On Wednesday, the girl's father, 36-year-old Suroso, also was detained and named a suspect for giving away the bride. Both Suroso, who like many Indonesians uses only one name, and Widianto could face up to 15 years in prison if found guilty of violating the country's child protection law, which forbids marriage to anyone under 18 years old.

The cleric's wedding and proclamations that he intended to also marry two other girls aged 7 and 9 angered many in Indonesia, the world's most populous Muslim nation with more than 210 million believers. Complaints came from Religious Affairs Minister Maftuh Basuni, child rights groups and the Indonesia Ulemma Council — the country's top Islamic body............

VATICAN CITY - An Austrian pastor who has been quoted as calling Hurricane Katrina God's punishment for sin in New Orleans is being promoted to the rank of bishop.

The Vatican announced Saturday that Pope Benedict XVI has tapped the Rev. Gerhard Wagner, 54, to be auxiliary bishop in Linz, Austria. It made no mention of the reported remarks about Hurricane Katrina.

Wagner has served since 1988 as pastor of a church in the Austrian town of Windischgarsten and received a doctorate in theology from the prestigious Gregorian Pontifical University in Rome, the Vatican said.

"The charity has wasted seven years pursuing us through the courts and chasing and intimidating us. "These would have been much better spent supporting the victims and apologising to them and seeking compensation for them."

Federal Prosecutor Arrested In Child Sex Sting

DETROIT -- A U.S. Justice Department official has been arrested on suspicion of traveling to Detroit over the weekend to have sex with a minor.
John David R. Atchison, 53, an assistant U.S. attorney from the northern district of Florida, was arraigned in U.S. District Court in Detroit Monday afternoon.
An undercover officer posed as a mother offering her child to Atchison for sex, according to police.

He is charged with enticement of a minor to engage in sexual activity.
According to authorities, Atchison made contact with a detective working undercover for the Macomb County Sheriff's department's.
The detective, acting as the child's mother, allegedly arranged a sexual encounter between Atchison and her 5-year-old daughter, police said.
In deposition, detectives said Atchison suggested the mother tell her daughter that "you found her a sweet boyfriend who will bring her presents."
The undercover detective expressed concern about physical injury to the 5-year-old girl as a result of the sexual activity. Detectives said Atchison responded, " I am always gentle and loving; not to worry, no damage ever, no rough stuff ever. I only like it soft and nice."...........
