i will warn you right now, there is another video that follows the ad that is NOT easy to watch. the embedded video right here does not have it, but if you go to PETA's site linked above, the video will play after the commercial.

now i'm not saying i LIKE the commercical's use of women in underwear or anything. i AM saying this commercical is no more 'naughty' or 'sexy' than most of the OTHER ads that will play on the superbowl. the shaving cream, the corn chip, the car, the website, the whatever. it's OK if you're using your tits and vag to sell shite, it's NOT ok to use your tits and vag to sell animal rights (is what the msm is saying)

Veggie Tales, It's Not: PETA's Super Bowl Ad Is Too Much for NBC to Stomach

NBC has nixed a new Super Bowl ad from the animal rights activist group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals because the ad is too sexually explicit.

It shows beautiful women, dressed in sexy undies, getting very intimate.

With vegetables.

Particularly pumpkins. Total sex maniacs, those pumpkins.

"Studies Show Vegetarians Have Better Sex," reads the tag line.

The ad suggests that changing over to a healthier, vegetarian diet -- or, alternatively, dressing like a broccoli -- will help guys attract hot, horny models.

"Apparently, NBC has something against girls who love their veggies," PETA said of the rejection. NBC's list of images it wanted cut before the network would reconsider the ad "even made us blush!" PETA said prettily. .........

it's not yo mama's humane society

it's yours and mine. some changes (MANY changes) over the years. i don't (usually) preach about my veganism. i mention it from time to time but let it go at that (people will ask and i'll talk about my substitutions for things likes eggs and milk and cheeses in cooking)- USUALLY. i only make a fuss when i'm attacked OR i see someone who tortures animals (i.e. i'm not sure most people know how a veal calf is raised. if they DID know, i'm not sure they'd so readily order veal). i'm not sure people know how MOST food animals are raised and handled. it's beyond being not nice. there's no reason for it other than the almighty dollar. we can't torture animals just as much as we can't torture one another. i believe that

Not long ago, I stood outside a closed-down slaughterhouse in Chino, Calif., with Wayne Pacelle, the first vegan to become president of the Humane Society of the United States — he hasn’t put butter on his rolls or poured milk in his cereal since he was a 19-year-old Yale undergrad. He tugged on the locked front gates of the slaughterhouse and called out to a security guard who sat unresponsive behind mirrored sunglasses in a small hut. Then, walking along the perimeter of the plant, Pacelle discovered a low brick wall, and he and I climbed on top. From there we could see the open-air section of the plant and its acres of quiet concrete. The trucks that once arrived at all hours of the morning and night, loaded with cows, were long gone. The pens that held the cows as they awaited U.S. Department of Agriculture inspection were empty. The slaughter chute that once moved about 500 cattle a day into the “kill box” sat motionless. .........

i AM NOT putting aside the animal stories right now. 'it's just a dog. you can get another' IS NOT the right answer. it's NO acceptable answer at all.

i will tell you, i have loved each and every dog i have ever had just as much as any human in my life. i have. no excuses. no embarrassments. no lies. i have. i would do ANYTHING within my power (and i have) to save their lives (if they had a chance at a quality life).

this is as i said UNACCEPTABLE even if one doesn't feel the same about animals as i do
Dog dies after traffic cop apathetic to owner's pleas

SAN MARCOS, Texas -- A police officer was accused of inappropriate behavior after his misconduct may have resulted in a dog's death, ABC News reported.

Officer Paul Stephens pulled over Michael Gonzalez for speeding at 100 miles an hour down an interstate highway, prompting the driver to get out of the car, saying, "He's dying."

Gonzales and his girlfriend Krystal Hernandez explained that they were speeding to reach a veterinary clinic because their pet poodle Missy was choking.

The dashboard camera of the police car shows Officer Stephens yelling and criticizing the couple for putting other people's lives at risk for a dog.

"You're driving down the highway at 100 per hour," he said. "It's a dog, it's OK. You can get another one. Relax."

Stephens kept Gonzalez on the roadside for 15 minutes. The dog died as the couple waited for Stephens to issue a citation.

The couple tried to convince the officers several different ways to allow them to save their pet, KWTX Channel 10 News reported.

Gonzalez and Hernandez said they begged Stephens to let them go to the vet and turn themselves in for the speeding ticket later.

Gonzalez also offered to stay behind with the officer while Hernandez took the dog to the vet.

But Stephens ignored their pleas..........

i'm not going to watch the video

which you can find if you click the link below. i don't have to. normally i'm not up on my soapbox about being a non-carnivore. i AM always on my soapbox when i see animals mistreated. (i can't tell you how many times i've called the police when i see a dog locked in a HOT car. oh i try to find the owner first but i don't waste too much time on that). i don't yell at people in fur coats (although i would LOVE to). i have 'accidently' driven by veal calves tied up to their little dog houses with a friend who perhaps ordered veal the last time we went out to eat. when they ask what it is they're looking at (you know a LOT of people don't know how or what veal is) i very innocently tell them.

if one is a half way decent human being, i cannot understand why one wouldn't INSIST upon humane treatment of animals. for food, for work, for companionship, for whatever.

Humane Society releases new video of mistreated livestock

WASHINGTON — The Humane Society of the United States released video footage Wednesday of sick and injured livestock the group says were mistreated at auction sites and stockyards where cattle are sold for slaughter.
The group released videos shot during April and May showing downed cows abandoned for hours at facilities in Maryland, New Mexico, Pennsylvania and Texas. A video was posted on the group's Web site.
"We found downed cows in a state of ill health, with no relief provided to the animals," said Wayne Pacelle, the organization's president and chief executive.
Downed cattle may pose a higher risk of contamination from E. coli, salmonella or mad cow disease because they typically wallow in feces and their immune systems are often weak.........

Wild bison soon to be wild meat By Elizabeth Laden GARDINER — Yellowstone National Park officials lured 53 bison Friday morning to the Stephens Creek bison corrals north of Gardiner within park boundaries. According to a park news release, the bison had crossed the park boundary and moved onto private land. The bison will either be sent directly to a slaughterhouse or to a research facility at Corwin Springs north of Gardiner. Park officials also said they have tried to herd the animals back into the park since early December. In a news release the West Yellowstone-based Buffalo Field Campaign (BFC) condemned the capture and noted that the animals were following their migratory instincts to search for food no longer available in the snow-covered park...........

this is what happens at puppy mills

please don't get a dog at a pet store. i'd even go so far as to say don't get a dog ANYWHERE but a shelter. there are purebreds a plenty there too you know. perhaps you don't get the papers, but why the hell would you need them? you're NOT going to breed those dogs of course, you're going to have them spayed or neutered (if they aren't already). this is dedicated to nancy who just last week lost her dog of 17 years. it's also dedicated to my but (big ugly thaing. sometimes that's what i called him. i did it because we both knew he really WASN'T ugly at all), my ranger danger (my little niece named him. well at the time she was little). we found ranger roaming around (my parents house). he was healthy and fed but FILTHY. my mom brought him in and he never left. he had to be part shepherd and part rottie. he was about 2 years old when we found him, give or take (according to the vet). my mom called all of the local vets in the area, the local shelters and put ads in the local paper. no one ever claimed him. he knew his basic sit and stay and paw type requests. he was loving and smart and funny. well loving to ONLY family members. when ANYONE and i mean ANYONE came over, we'd have to put ranger out on the porch or outside or even tie him up in the kitchen. he HATED ALL strangers. funny, he was so gentle with all of my sisters (at the time VERY YOUNG) children yet so vicious with outsiders. he never bit anyone when he was in our care. he WOULD have though. we just made sure he never had the chance. he was hand shy. someone must have beaten him badly. i don't know how people can do such things.

one day when he was outside (on a heavy chain. he only stayed out when he wanted to go out and he was immediately brought in at his FIRST bark) i happened to look out the kitchen window. i saw my parent's neighbor cross over into our yard. he was VERY ill at the time, terminal. i quickly dashed to the back door thinking i'd never stop the impending tragedy. by the time i had opened it, i saw ranger on his back on the ground letting the neighbor rub his belly. i never went outside. i just let ranger and my parent's neighbor bond. it was something they both needed i guess.

i guess i'll also dedicate this to my moms too (she has passed as well). ranger got very ill a couple of years after he adopted us. of course he was under a vet's care but when he was home, every evening at 10:00 my mother would peel him an apple and feed it to him along with a little vanilla ice cream. when i asked her why she gave him a peeled apple and vanilla ice cream every night at 10:00 she said, 'a rose is a rose, i do it because that's what HE LIKES'. looking at me as if i was an alien for not knowing that tidbit of info...........

anyway, i LOVE DOGS (i like all animals but i LOVE dogs). please adopt one (or a cat or a bird or a hampster or whatever) from a shelter in your area. they'll love you like you need to be loved

Some of the adult dogs arriving at the Montgomery County animal shelter Thursday acted like newborn pups with splayed legs, wobbly as they tried to walk. They had never been on solid ground.
At first, they didn't know how to eat from a bowl, so accustomed were they to the troughs at the puppy mill in southwestern Virginia from which they had just been rescued. Several had matted hair around their eyes and couldn't see. The pads of their feet were sore or cut from being confined to wire cages.
When word of the dogs' plight surfaced this week on the Web site of the Humane Society of the United States -- that officials in Carroll County, Va., had seized nearly 1,000 dogs from a suspected puppy mill -- reaction from animal lovers was immediate and intense.
Volunteers from the Washington region joined others from Florida and New York who streamed to the rural town of Hillsville near the North Carolina border. Families began calling to ask when they could adopt the dogs. Donations rolled in; PetSmart sent a trailer full of kibble and other supplies. .............

Lawmaker seeks to ban all wolf hunting from aircraft

WASHINGTON — Alaska hasn’t done its part to observe a 35-year-old federal ban on hunting wolves from aircraft, said a California lawmaker who has filed legislation that will end the practice.
With an Arctic grey wolf named Atka at his side, Rep. George Miller, D-Calif., introduced a bill Tuesday that bans wolf hunting from planes or helicopter. The legislation will close a loophole in the 1972 Airborne Hunting Act that has allowed the state of Alaska to issue permits to shoot and kill nearly 700 wolves from airplanes over the past four years, Miller said. ...

..........“This bill is another deliberate attempt by radicals to federalize our country and defy the core principles upon which it was founded,” Young said. “States have the inherent right to manage their own wildlife populations. For the federal government to step in to one particular state is on par with a selective dictatorship, and as a population, we should be fearful that those in power are actively working to make this a reality.”.......
