way to go new hampshire!!!!

i think it's rather cool a bunch of new england states have been among the first. we'll get ALL states eventually. there's NOTHING to be afraid of. if you don't want to marry one of 'the gays' DON'T! it's as easy as that. 'the gays' are NOT going to try to convert your son or daughter or turn the world into hell. all 'the gays' really want is the same things you and i want. EQUALITY and to be treated fairly. that's it

anyway, way to go new hampshire!

Six: New Hampshire will legalize same sex marriage

The governor has indicated he'll sign the measure -- so the New Hampshire legislature's approval of same sex marriage makes the legal union of gay couples a near-certainty, and will bring the number of states honoring gay marriages to six.

CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — The New Hampshire Senate has passed revised gay marriage legislation and sent it to the House.

If it passes there, Gov. John Lynch is expected to sign it into law later Wednesday. It would make New Hampshire the sixth state to allow gays to marry..........

New Hampshire Legalizes Same-Sex Marriage

By ABBY GOODNOUGH

BOSTON — The New Hampshire legislature approved revisions to a same-sex marriage bill on Wednesday, and Gov. John Lynch promptly signed the legislation, making the state the sixth to let gay couples wed.

The bill had been through several permutations to satisfy Mr. Lynch and certain legislators that it would not force religious organizations that oppose same-sex marriage to participate in ceremonies celebrating it. Some groups had feared they could be sued for refusing to allow same-sex weddings on their property.

Mr. Lynch, who previously supported civil unions but not marriage for same-sex couples, said in a statement that he had heard “compelling arguments that a separate system is not an equal system.”

“Today,” he said, “we are standing up for the liberties of same-sex couples by making clear that they will receive the same rights, responsibilities — and respect — under New Hampshire law.”.............

Ken Burns: This is not the John McCain NH once loved

By KEN BURNS

WHAT HAPPENED to John McCain? What happened to the man so many of us in New Hampshire have admired and respected for so long? The fierce bipartisan warrior, the straight talker, the maverick whose ideas nearly everyone found some common ground with now seems missing in action. He seems to have betrayed the very attributes that originally commended him to us and earned our earlier trust and support.

We continue to stand in awe of his heroic service to his country during Vietnam, but now he shamelessly uses those experiences at every opportunity, as if it excuses him from having to answer any really tough questions about the economy or foreign policy. The answer to everything is not to mention his admittedly harrowing POW days. My experience interviewing heroes of war is that most prefer to deflect attention from themselves and let their record speak for itself. McCain seems to think that it buys him a permanent pass. But it is impossible to know how to fight the new wars if you are hopelessly lost in the old ones.........

Surrounded and programmed by the lobbyists he once despised, the man who once effortlessly straddled the aisle and spoke from the heart now carefully hews to a prompter-read, soulless far-right agenda......

MANCHESTER, N.H. --Leaf it to New Hampshire, where a bank branch was held up by a man disguised as a tree.
Just as the Citizen Bank branch opened Saturday morning, a man walked in with leafy boughs duct-taped to his head and torso, and robbed the place.
"He really went out on a limb," police Sgt. Ernie Goodno said Sunday.
Police said the leafy man didn't saying anything about having a weapon, just demanded cash, and was given an undisclosed amount.
Although the branches and leaves obscured much of the man's face, someone who saw images from the bank's security camera recognized the robber and called police.........

This security camera photo provided by the police shows a bank robber, left, wearing a disguise of leaves duct taped to his head and torso in the Citizens Bank, in Manchester, N.H. Saturday, July 7, 2007. (AP Photo)

(note: he DOES get a few points back for using duct tape though)
