Lawmaker: Terrorists to cheer Obama win
Iowa GOP Congressman Says al-Qaida Would Celebrate Obama Victory in Presidential Race

JAMES BELTRAN

An Iowa Republican congressman said Friday that terrorists would be "dancing in the streets" if Democratic candidate Barack Obama were to win the presidency.
Rep. Steve King based his prediction on Obama's pledge to pull troops out of Iraq, his Kenyan heritage and his middle name, Hussein.
"The radical Islamists, the al-Qaida ... would be dancing in the streets in greater numbers than they did on Sept. 11 because they would declare victory in this war on terror," King said in an interview with the Daily Reporter in Spencer.
King said his comments were not meant to demean Obama but to warn how an Obama presidency would look to the world....................

Congressman Rips Obama -- But AP Leaves Out a Lot
By E&P Staff and The Associated Press
...................But the Associated Press account underplays the true inflammatory nature of the attacks, as carried by the same local paper, which reported it as follows.*"I don't want to disparage anyone because of their race, their ethnicity, their name - whatever their religion their father might have been," he said. "I'll just say this: When you think about the option of a Barack Obama potentially getting elected President of the United States -- I mean, what does this look like to the rest of the world? What does it look like to the world of Islam?"He continued: "I will tell you that, if he is elected president, then the radical Islamists, the al-Qaida, the radical Islamists and their supporters, will be dancing in the streets in greater numbers than they did on September 11 because they will declare victory in this War on Terror."King thinks radical Islamists will say the United States has capitulated because the Obama administration would be pulling troops out of any conflict associated with al-Qaida."Additionally, his middle name (Hussein) does matter," King said. "It matters because they read a meaning into that in the rest of the world. That has a special meaning to them. They will be dancing in the streets because of his middle name. They will be dancing in the streets because of who his father was and because of his posture that says: Pull out of the Middle East and pull out of this conflict."................

what's the expression? grapsing at straws?

yes that's it.

iraq had NOTHING TO DO WITH 9/11. NOTHING. nothing anyone can say or do can change that. NOTHING TO DO WITH 9/11.

terrorism in iraq really didn't exist UNTIL AFTER WE INVADED THEM illegally, immorally and unjustly.

STOP THE LIES and STOP THE SCARE TACTICS

(what terrorism there is now in iraq, WE are responsible for.)

Bush again links Iraq violence to 9/11

By Jonathan S. Landay McClatchy Newspapers

WASHINGTON — Struggling to stem growing opposition to his Iraq policy even among Republicans, President Bush contended anew Tuesday that the perpetrators of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks in the United States are the same as al Qaida in Iraq, a violent Iraqi insurgent group that didn't exist until after the 2003 U.S.-led invasion.
It was the second time in two weeks that Bush has made the link in an apparent attempt to transform lingering fear of another U.S. terrorist attack into backing for the current buildup of U.S. troops in Iraq.
"Al Qaida is doing most of the spectacular bombings, trying to incite sectarian violence," Bush told a business group in Cleveland, Ohio. "The same people that attacked us on September the 11th is a crowd that is now bombing people, killing innocent men, women and children, many of whom are Muslims."........

'exceedingly complex'

is that another phrase for 'we're f**ked'?

seems like it is

when even the top general says it's a mess then will the masses do something?

or

how much longer are we going to wait? how many more of our troops are we going to allow to die? how many iraqis are we going to allow to die? how many are we going to allow to be displaced? and FOR WHAT?

(of course the general and i think we should proceed in different directions. or, maybe we don't. maybe he just can't say how he really thinks we should proceed)

U.S. surge fails to stem Baghdad violence, general says
By Nancy A. Youssef
McClatchy Newspapers

WASHINGTON - Army Gen. David Petraeus, the top commander in Iraq, said Thursday that the surge of U.S. and Iraqi troops into Baghdad hadn't reduced overall violence in the country and that the situation was "exceedingly complex."
The newly named commander echoed the warnings of those who'd preceded him, saying things could get worse before they get better. He spoke of threats emanating from Syria and Iran but said that al-Qaida, which has taken responsibility for a spate of car bombings, was "probably public enemy number one."
Petraeus' sober assessment made clear that while he thinks he's making progress, Iraq is a long way from stability and will require a long-term commitment from the United States.
"The level of violence has generally been unchanged" since the troop buildup began Feb. 15, Petraeus said at the Pentagon. Throughout the country, "there was a dip for a while. It was coming down and (then there were) these sensational attacks of the past couple of weeks." .........

one of THE most disturbing stories i have ever read

what is going on in the world? how are we to save ourselves and our planet? it is NEVER going to happen i fear

(there is NO link to the video in question or i would not have posted this at all)

By ABDUL SATTAR -- Associated Press Writer

This photo taken from a video, Friday, April 20, 2007, shows a boy speaking shortly before hacking off a captive's head in Pakistan. A video circulating in Pakistan records the grisly death of Ghulam Nabi, a Pakistani militant accused of betraying a top Taliban official who was killed in a December airstrike in Afghanistan. An Associated Press reporter confirmed Nabi's identity by visiting his family in Kili Faqiran, their remote village in southwestern Pakistan. The video, obtained by AP Television News in the border city of Peshawar on Tuesday, appears authentic and is unprecedented in jihadist propaganda because of the youth of the executioner.

Perle still clinging to 'Qaida, Saddam direct connection'

David Edwards

Richard Perle, the American Enterprise Institute fellow who helped build the case for the Iraq War prior to the US invasion in 2003, appeared on CNN's Late Edition with Wolf Blitzer last night and continued to cling to the existence of links between Saddam Hussein's regime and al Qaida terrorists.
While admitting Hussein's government had nothing to do with the 9/11 attacks, Perle continued to point to a "direct connection" between the two.
"There is evidence of a connection between al Qaida and Saddam Hussein's intelligence," he insisted............
