Kurt Vonnegut, Novelist Who Caught the Imagination of His Age, Is Dead at 84

By DINITIA SMITH

Published: April 12, 2007
Kurt Vonnegut, whose dark comic talent and urgent moral vision in novels like “Slaughterhouse-Five,” “Cat’s Cradle” and “God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater” caught the temper of his times and the imagination of a generation, died last night in Manhattan. He was 84 and had homes in Manhattan and in Sagaponack on Long Island.
Mr. Vonnegut suffered irreversible brain injuries as a result of a fall several weeks ago, according to his wife, Jill Krementz.
Mr. Vonnegut wrote plays, essays and short fiction. But it was his novels that became classics of the American counterculture, making him a literary idol, particularly to students in the 1960s and ’70s. Dog-eared paperback copies of his books could be found in the back pockets of blue jeans and in dorm rooms on campuses throughout the United States..................

It's a sad day for me. He was my favorite author.

yeah i know rick. i'm sorry. i also went over to that other blog you had on your post (the one where you say the author misunderstood vonnegut). he didn't misunderstand him, he HATED him. why? i have no idea. none of his points made any sense to me. some of the people commenting on the other blog had hearts so full of hate i can't believe they didn't explode.

rick, people are so odd

That's the blog I go to for a dose of the hatred and nonsensical prattling of the right-wing. I rarely comment, because of the dogpile that is their mindset over there in the us vs. them, anything to win, world. Although, I finally did comment on Rob's Vonnegut post.

By the way, my blog traffic went through the roof on my Vonnegut tribute. I was featured on Buzzfeed for it. Kind of a nice surprise.

i used to read a couple connecticut blogs that leaned to the 'other side'. i had to stop though. it didn't provide me with another perspective as i had hoped. it only gave me great heartache

congratulations on your buzzfeed! i can't think of anyone who deserves it MORE
