Lieberman hit over war stance
(WTNH, Dec. 13, 2005 6:00 PM) _ Senator Lieberman has earned kudos from the Bush Administration for his staunch support of the President's Iraq policy but that support comes at a high cost from his own constituents here in Connecticut.
by Chief Capitol Correspondent Mark Davis
There seems to be a growing discontentment here in Connecticut with senator lieberman's strong support for the continued war effort in Iraq.
Joe Lieberman's stance on the Iraq war has brought him some praise on his recent visits back to the state. Heavy praise from President Bush.
But today a group called Democracy for America brought a petition to his Hartford office saying that Lieberman is wrong and that President Bush should be challenged on the war.
"We want the senator to know that we believe it's our duty to keep this debate going. We also want the senator to know that we don't believe that the president has the credibility that he thinks he has."
Former Governor Lowell Weicker, who said last week that he is not running but that he feels so strongly about the war that if no one challenges Lieberman he might, seems to be accepting any and all invitations to talk about it. ..............
