they murdered him at his church

at his church........

whether you think abortion is murder or you are pro-choice. whether you think dr george tiller was a saint or a sinner.................

YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO TAKE HIS LIFE. how can you say HE was a murderer then turn around and murder him? this is something i never understood. the clinic bombings, the shootings, the harm of some 'innocent' people (you know clinics have janitors and maintenance people who have to feed their families)

did your god tell you to murder? what kind of god do you believe in i wonder?

again, sometimes i wished i believed in hell just so these kinds of people would burn in it for eternity
Abortion Doctor Slain by Gunman in Kansas Church
By JOE STUMPE and MONICA DAVEY
WICHITA, Kan. — George Tiller, one of only a few doctors in the nation who performed abortions late in pregnancy, was shot to death here Sunday in the foyer of his longtime church as he handed out the church bulletin.

The authorities said they took a man into custody later in the day after pulling him over about 170 miles away on Interstate 35 near Kansas City. They said they expected to charge him with murder on Monday.

The Wichita police said there were several witnesses to the killing, but law enforcement officials would not say what had been said, if anything, inside the foyer. Officials offered little insight into the motive, saying that they believed it was “the act of an isolated individual” but that they were also looking into “his history, his family, his associates.......

Abortion doctor George Tiller is killed

The late-term abortion provider is shot at his church in Wichita, Kan. A suspect is arrested near Kansas City, police say. Tiller had been a victim of violence in the past.

Reporting from Los Angeles and Wichita, Kan. - For years, abortion foes tried to put Dr. George Tiller out of business. One of the few American physicians who performed late-term abortions, he was targeted by violent extremists as well as principled opponents.

In 1986, his clinic was bombed. In 1991, it was blockaded for six weeks. In 1993, he was shot in both arms. In March, Kansas prosecutors tried him on charges of breaking an abortion law; he was acquitted. In May, vandals cut wires to security cameras and made holes in the roof of Tiller's clinic, Women's Health Care Services, a fortified single-story building where abortion foes keep daily vigil..............

Bill O'Reilly's 'Tiller the Baby Killer' Gunned Down in Wichita Church
Blogged by Brad Friedman
ox 'News' host had long charged KS physician with 'operating a death mill', 'executing babies', carrying out 'slaughter' Update: Wingnut 'FreeRepublic' commenters celebrate Tiller murder..
A manhunt is underway at this hour for the murderer of Kansas physician GeorgeTiller who was shot and killed this morning when he entered his church in Wichita. [Update: Suspect now in custody.]

Tiller was better known to Fox "News" viewers as "Tiller the Baby Killer", as he's long been described by Bill O'Reilly who has spent years targeting Tiller on the most-watched show in cable news. O'Reilly has long demonized him with allegations of performing illegal late-term abortions, characterized as murder by O'Reilly and his guests.

Of course, it's no more O'Reilly's fault when a lunatic takes action to murder someone the Fox host has targeted for years on his popular television show, than it was when another lunatic gunned down church-goers in Tennessee last year claiming in his pre-murder "manifesto" that it was "a symbolic killing", and that he had "wanted to kill...every Democrat in the Senate & House, the 100 people in Bernard Goldberg's book." Goldberg is a regular featured guest on O'Reilly's show, and the author of 100 People Who Are Screwing Up America (And Al Franken is #37).........

i'm not in the least bit surprised

we make less and are charged more. (even at the dry cleaners even though MOST, not all mind you but MOST of the time our clothing is either equal sized or smaller than a man's)

for years and years and years women were excluded from health studies (as in heart attacks) and studies the big drug companies did. women getting sick didn't matter i guess.

sure women have babies (and that IS an expense) and men don't. but it's NOT that great of an expense usually. these days it's an in one day out the next routine.

(and yes, i work for an insurance company/financial institution BUT NOT HEALTH INSURANCE. i'll tell you this much about the company i work for, they have many women in power AND promote women's activities and women's health issues. they have always had gay and lesbian organizations AND insurance coverage for same sex partners. it's not perfect but i really do think it's a wonderful company to work for as far as the field goes. i'd rather make jewelry or movies or write the perfect novel, but that's not happening right now, is it?)

Women Buying Health Policies Pay a Penalty

By ROBERT PEAR
WASHINGTON — Striking new evidence has emerged of a widespread gap in the cost of health insurance, as women pay much more than men of the same age for individual insurance policies providing identical coverage, according to new data from insurance companies and online brokers.

Some insurance executives expressed surprise at the size and prevalence of the disparities, which can make a woman’s insurance cost hundreds of dollars a year more than a man’s. Women’s advocacy groups have raised concerns about the differences, and members of Congress have begun to question the justification for them.

The new findings, which are not easily explained away, come amid anxiety about the declining economy. More and more people are shopping for individual health insurance policies because they have lost jobs that provided coverage. Politicians of both parties have offered proposals that would expand the role of the individual market, giving people tax credits or other assistance to buy coverage on their own..........

Penalty for pharmacist's refusal upheld
By ROBERT IMRIE, Associated Press Writer
WAUSAU, Wis. - A state appeals court upheld sanctions Tuesday against a pharmacist who refused to dispense birth control pills to a woman and wouldn't transfer her prescription elsewhere.
The 3rd District Court of Appeals ruled that the punishment the state Pharmacy Examining Board handed down against pharmacist Neil Noesen did not violate his state constitutional rights, specifically his "right of conscience" to religiously oppose birth control.
"Noesen abandoned even the steps necessary to perform in a minimally competent manner under any standard of care," the three-judge panel said. The decision upheld a ruling by Barron County Circuit Judge James Babler.
Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin praised the ruling as important for women's access to reproductive health care. Several states have been wrestling with the issue of pharmacists who refuse on religious grounds to dispense birth control or "morning-after" pills.
Noessen's attorney Paul Linton said that he was disappointed but that no decision had been made on whether to appeal.
The ruling "can curtail the religious rights of pharmacists and perhaps other health care professionals," Linton said...........

holy f**king shite

this ass thinks rape is NOT rape if a woman is NOT a virgin (or if she's assaulted by her husband). AND HE'S AN EFFING LAWMAKER on top of it

Rape: They just don't make it like they used to
I can't believe we missed this. Last week, after a debate over legislation that would amend the state constitution to say that it does not guarantee the right to abortion or require funding for abortion, Tennessee state Sen. Doug Henry (at right), said,
“Rape, ladies and gentlemen, is not today what rape was. Rape, when I was learning these things, was the violation of a chaste woman, against her will, by some party not her spouse. Today it’s simply, ‘Let’s don’t go forward with this act.’ ”
In the modern era, now that all women are dirty whores, rape is really no big deal. After all, women can just say no!
Perhaps we should write Sen. Henry
an email or two and let him know what has and hasn't changed about sexual assault in this country?..........

vinegar, cotton and a halogen lamp

may save TENS of thousands of women's lives (or even millions...........)

Cheap, simple method can spot cervical cancer
Using vinegar, cotton not as precise, but may save millions in poor countries

LONDON - A cheap method to detect cervical cancer using vinegar, cotton gauze and a bright light could save millions of women in the developing world, experts reported Friday.
The study, published in The Lancet medical journal, found a simple visual screening test to look for the early signs of cervical cancer reduced the numbers of cases by a quarter.
“This is a landmark study,” said Dr. Harshad Sanghvi, medical director at JHPIEGO, an international health organization affiliated with
Johns Hopkins University that has worked on preventing cervical cancer in poor countries. Sanghvi was unconnected to the Lancet study........

another side effect in iraq

of couse this never even crossed my mind but it makes sense - that it would happen due to OUR illegal, unjust and immoral invasion of THEIR country

women and children are ALWAYS hurt

Report: Iraq Violence Leading to Abortions, Drug Abuse Among Civilians

Justin Rood Reports:

Pregnant Iraqi women who have been forced from their homes by worsening violence are obtaining illegal abortions because they are unable to get medical care for themselves and their unborn, according to a new report by a national humanitarian group.
A record number of Iraqis -- most of them women and children -- are fleeing their homes to escape the bloodshed of sectarian violence and anti-U.S. attacks, according to a new report by the Iraqi Red Crescent organization, the largest aid group operating in Iraq.
Health care is inadequate and difficult to access for those people, according to the IRC report.
"Pregnant women, infants and children are unable to get...required medical care," states the report, which was translated from Arabic, "and criminal abortion became [sic] the norms." .........

ovarian cancer - some new information on warning signs

better to be safe than sorry - if you have these symptoms DO go see your doctor

(yeah, i know. first we hear mammograms ARE a good thing, then we hear they really don't help then we hear they do, then not, then on and on and on. as second class citizens where only VERY recently have we been included in studies on ANYTHING from heart attacks to headaches, i'm thankful for ANY information that comes out)

Symptoms Found for Early Check on Ovary Cancer

By DENISE GRADY
Published: June 13, 2007
Cancer experts have identified a set of health problems that may be symptoms of ovarian cancer, and they are urging women who have the symptoms for more than a few weeks to see their doctors.
The new advice is the first official recognition that ovarian cancer, long believed to give no warning until it was far advanced, does cause symptoms at earlier stages in many women.
The symptoms to watch out for are bloating, pelvic or abdominal pain, difficulty eating or feeling full quickly and feeling a frequent or urgent need to urinate. A woman who has any of those problems nearly every day for more than two or three weeks is advised to see a gynecologist, especially if the symptoms are new and quite different from her usual state of health. .....

more on yet ANOTHER king george appointee

i know if i was in charge of picking someone to oversee a health program dealing mainly with women - i'd pick someone who DIDN'T BELIEVE IN BIRTH CONTROL but DID believe in abstinence (among other things)

N O T

is anyone keeping any sort of tally of all these appointees? seems like there are so very many. more than ALL other administrations put together (or is it just moi?)

Heckuva job? Bush Administration vaunted bogus credentials for birth control czar, records show

Medical Directorship was part time or volunteer post, group says
The former head of the federal agency overseeing family planning programs misled the public about his qualifications and background, a RAW STORY investigation has found.
Appointed by President George W. Bush in late 2006 as the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Population Affairs at the Department of Health and Human Services, Dr. Eric J. Keroack resigned unexpectedly in March of this year after Massachusetts officials launched a formal investigation into allegations of Medicaid fraud during his tenure in private practice.
Medicaid is a state-federal health program for the poor.
Although as an appointee he quickly became mired in controversy over his opposition to birth control, abortion and comprehensive sex education, newly obtained documents show that from the start Dr. Keroack was far from qualified to head the federal women’s health program. ...

...........HHS officials repeatedly cited Keroack’s long tenure in private practice as one of his key qualifications, along with his highly publicized role as medical director for a chain of Christian pregnancy centers.
According to the
Washington Post, “Eric Keroack, a nationally known advocate of abstinence until marriage, served for more than a decade as medical director for A Woman’s Concern, a Massachusetts nonprofit group that discourages abortion and does not distribute information promoting birth control. But HHS spokeswoman Christina Pearson said yesterday that most of Keroack’s professional time had been devoted to his private practice of 20 years, not the group.”................
