a GIANT wtf???????????

(as if 'straight' people don't engage in out of the 'ordinary' practices)

man, i wish this were a skit on saturday night live. it's not. IT'S REAL. not just that though. there are lives at stake here. just because one's sexuality may not be the same as yours, does that mean they deserve to die? the answer is everyone is equal. there are good people and bad people. gay or straight or bi or trans has NOTHING to do with good or bad. NOTHING

The pastor using pornography to fan the flames of gay hate in Uganda

By Daniel Howden and Barbara Among in Kampala

The congregation was bigger than normal this week at the Christianity Focus Centre in Kampala. Perhaps numbers had been swelled by the prospect of an unusual kind of show-and-tell fast becoming the mainstay of the Martin Ssempa roadshow.

Uganda's "passionate pastor", as he calls himself, had revelations to share with the 200 or so men, women and children who turned up on Wednesday. His ambition to mark the week with a "million-man march" in support of a parliamentary Bill to further criminalise homosexuality had fallen flat over security concerns. But he had a sideshow quite capable of causing a stir in itself.

"The major argument homosexuals have is that what people do in the privacy of their bedrooms is nobody's business," the squat, shaven-headed preacher said. "But do you know what they do in their bedrooms?"...........

Scott Brown sympathizes with Austin bomber: ‘No one likes paying taxes, obviously’

By Sahil Kapur

When does it become somewhat understandable to want to fly planes into buildings?

Appearing on Fox News, newly-minted Sen. Scott Brown (R-MA) showed notable sympathy and scant outrage for Joseph Stack, who crashed his airplane into an IRS building Thursday in an apparent suicide bombing Thursday.

"You don't know anything about the individual," Brown said. "He could have had other issues. Certainly, no one likes paying taxes, obviously."

Stack's writings strongly suggest he was motivated by anti-government outrage as he had written fuming anti-tax, anti-IRS, and anti-health care reform screeds in internet message postings.............

Did Sen. Scott Brown rationalize Joseph Stack's plane crash?

What senator would publicly associate his political ideals with the frustrations espoused by a man who crashed a plane into a government building -- just hours after Joseph Stack's destructive suicide?

Massachusetts Republican Senator Scott Brown.

And when would said senator have made such an association?

In what Fox News said is his first nationally televised interview since he took office. What's worse -- by tying in the voter frustration that got him elected and not saying Stack was wrong, Brown appears to rationalize how he may have been right.

nsfw BUT grand!

garfunkel and oates

this is just getting worse

what do innocent people in a building working, doing their jobs have to do with YOU being angry at the world? why do THEY have to be injured or die because you're a racist, sexist, insane piece of steaming shite? (i'm talking about those who would join such a social networking group here)

i don't normally take an entire posting and re-post it (i usually take a paragraph or two then link to the original poster and posting). i made an exception here. i reposted john aravosis' entire piece. i don't know whether to cry or scream. i just cannot believe people believe it's ok to KILL innocents. i cannot believe someone would call a terrorist a hero. but i have to believe it, because it happened

UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE: seems like at least one (of the three i found) groups on facebook dedicated to glorifying a (alleged) terrorist was hacked. to the hackers..... THANK YOU!!!

Anti-govt anti-Obama nuts launch Facebook page to honor domestic terrorist who crashed plane into IRS office
And you could write this off as just a few nuts on the Internet, except that new GOP Senator Scott Brown said tonight that the same anger that convinced this man to crash a plane into an IRS office, 9/11 style, was the same anger that got Brown elected last month. Perhaps not such an aberration after all.

Mike Signorile turned me on to this. He was reading the comments on the air on his radio show. The initial page was taken down by Facebook - and I don't blame them from what Mike tells me. But a new page is up. It's pretty hideous. The page has the "Don't Tread On Me" flag that Tea party teabaggers like to use, and it has a wonderful Thomas Jefferson quote that domestic terrorist Timothy McVeigh used. A lot of the nastiest stuff got deleted the first time around. Including a number of anti-Obama comments. Here are some examples of the comments on the page (now that the page is getting discovered, some negative comments are coming in, finally):

This is Emily Walters. We were the original ones who started this group. It grew to about 300 members and was deleted. They deleted my profile also. This is my boyfriends profile he made just to put it back on there because its sad when you don't have the right to freedom of speech or expression anymore.

Do we as americans have our head buried in the sand? is it time to pull it out? what will we really see.....? Abolish the IRS, lets go with a sales tax....ooohhh yea, how would big brother keep us in check.... it is time

I would call him a hero!!! I.m sure they will call him a terrorists.

WE DON'T HAVE REPRESENTATION IN GOVERNMENT WHATSOEVER

I'm sick and tired of our tax dollars supporting lazy old people with their free social security. Get a job or get out of our country!

They are not screwing with "Andrew Joseph Stack III is not a Hero" group.

Mr. Stack is a true American hero

JOSEPH STACK AN AMERICAN HERO!

There only deleting comments becouse there too true...

The IRS planned to eat him anyway, might as well serve a gourmet meal.

when does terrorism become patriotism???were the minutemen and anybody who revolted against king george terrorists or patriots?? im sure they were also perceived as terrorists

this country was founded on rebellion. history repeats itself. common sense.

Obviously you haven't heard Patrick Henry's quote, "Give me the politicians I want or give everyone else death"

So we should just sit there and take what Uncle Sam gives us in the ass? Joe Stack had the balls to make a point -and his point certainly received international attention.

sad thing for the folks who think this is going to be the only time we hear about something like this. this is not the way americans act UNLESS YOUVE FALLEN VICTOM OF THE IRS AND THEYRE UNBALENCED POLICIES!!!!. so get used to it--nuff said

It's not about who he killed or who he could have killed. It's about the undeniable identification of the common American with his letter and his frustration with our out of touch, detached government.

This poor man was hunted to insanity. I pray for his family.

This building did not contain any important files, I believe this might be the building were that S.O.B. worked that Joe thought was on his side and would help him save his ass yet he turned out to be on the gov's side instead. I dont know about you all but, if I were in that building when Joe struck it I would have been honored to die for a good cause that would finaly atleast open up some eyes.

I hear that there was already a hazmat team across the street before the plane stuck, how did they know to be there at that exact time???????????????????????????

I am watching CNN, and they keep bringing on Pyshc experts that keep painting this guy as paranoid, and deranged. I can't help but think that behind the scenes even psych professionals can understand this guy's frustration with our bloated, intrusive government, but yet on the air they say what's politically correct, and what's best for their careers. In no way do I condone killing innocent people, but I understand Joe's logic and frustration. Personally, I think he would be pleased that he was able to get our attention without causing a single death.

His name was Joseph Andrew Stack. He died serving project mayhem. In death we are all Joseph Stack.
One more:
It is heroic to set fire to your house with your wife and daughter in it then reenact what he called a horror in his manifesto with a miniature version of a plane? Please do tell me how that is heroic.

No, but it is heroic to fly your plane into the IRS building

this is one of THE most shocking things i have read in a long time

as is mentioned in corey's posting on boing boing and by some in the comments section,

what happens when those young children (most kids ARE underage in highschool) UNDRESS in front of their laptops? is that child porn? YOU EFFING BET IT IS. i hope the people responsible for making the decision to (allegedly) do this GET SUED MONETARILY AND LOSE SO THEY HAVE TO PAY UP AND I HOPE THEIR ASSES GET TOSSED IN THE SLAMMER FOR A GOOD LONG TIME.

what they (allegedly) did was illegal, immoral and just downright FUCKING DIRTY bid-nez

School used student laptop webcams to spy on them at school and home
By Cory Doctorow

According to the filings in Blake J Robbins v Lower Merion School District (PA) et al, the laptops issued to high-school students in the well-heeled Philly suburb have webcams that can be covertly activated by the schools' administrators, who have used this facility to spy on students and even their families. The issue came to light when the Robbins's child was disciplined for "improper behavior in his home" and the Vice Principal used a photo taken by the webcam as evidence. The suit is a class action, brought on behalf of all students issued with these machines.

If true, these allegations are about as creepy as they come. I don't know about you, but I often have the laptop in the room while I'm getting dressed, having private discussions with my family, and so on. The idea that a school district would not only spy on its students' clickstreams and emails (bad enough), but also use these machines as AV bugs is purely horrifying...............

i don't know where to begin

first i just need to say how very sorry i am for all those effected by the horrific act of ONE INSANE MAN

next, there is no doubt in my mind THIS WAS AN ACT OF DOMESTIC TERRORISM. think about it. what would they (meaning the msm) call it if everything was exactly the same. the fire, the plane, the house burning, the suicide note with one teeny tiny difference. what if the name of the perp was abdullah? what would they call it then? hmmmmmmmmmm?

and lastly, in the online versions of the nyt and wapo why was this story not a lead?

Expert: Attack on IRS possibly an act of ‘domestic terrorism’

By David Edwards and Stephen Webster

Was the destruction of an Austin, Texas IRS office a criminal action, or a terrorist attack? While federal authorities are treating the plane crash as the first, the local congressman has termed it the later.

And then there's retired police officer Lou Palumbo, who suggested to CNN's Rick Sanchez, "If this individual had done this in Iraq, we'd be calling him a suicide bomber."

"Yeah we would," Sanchez replied. "You make a good point there, Lou."

Related: Raw Story obtains Austin suicide bomber's music video

Rep. Lloyd Doggett (D-TX), who represents the district where the incident occurred, seems to agree. He called it an act of "domestic terrorism."...................

Utah lawmaker wants MLK Day to honor gunmaker

By Daniel Tencer

Supporters say John Browning's guns secured 'freedom that allowed King to do his work'

The NAACP has condemned a Utah lawmaker's bill that would add the name of a local gunmaker to Martin Luther King Day.

Under state Sen. Mark Madsen's proposed law, the Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr., would share his holiday with John Moses Browning, an early 20th-century gunmaker behind such famous gun brands as Browning, Colt and Winchester.

The new holiday would be called "Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr./John M. Browning Day."............

i've written about chiquita MANY times

now dole and perhaps del monte are thrown into the mix as well.

these companies (and they're NOT the only ones. even ones operating on american soil, in office buildings NOT in jungles, are capable of doing things such as this and worse)

Hiring Death Squads Is Coming Back to Haunt U.S. Companies
CIVIL LIBERTIES

The company's position -- which it has held consistently since it voluntarily disclosed the payments to the Department of Justice -- has been that both left-wing guerrillas and right-wing paramilitaries forced the company in an extortionate manner to make the payments "to protect the lives of its employees."

But that's become an increasingly untenable position -- especially since some of the same paramilitaries who took the payments have come in from the cold, disarming and submitting to Columbia's "Justice and Peace" process -- which allows them to receive reduced jail time for confessing to all of their terrorist crimes. The problem for Chiquita -- and now for Dole (and potentially for Del Monte) -- is that the confessions reveal a much different story.........

Meet the Flintstones

by Ross Ramsey

Nearly a third of Texans believe humans and dinosaurs roamed the earth at the same time, and more than half disagree with the theory that humans developed from earlier species of animals, according to the University of Texas/Texas Tribune Poll.

The differences in beliefs about evolution and the length of time that living things have existed on earth are reflected in the political and religious preference of our respondents, who were asked four questions about biological history and God:

• 38 percent said human beings developed over millions of years with God guiding the process and another 12 percent said that development happened without God having any part of the process. Another 38 percent agreed with the statement "God created human beings pretty much in their present form about 10,000 years ago."................

NH House rejects 2 anti-gay marriage measures

i don't understand

i don't understand really. what are they afraid of? how can one human being believe it's acceptable to discriminate against another based on something like the color of one's skin or one's sexual orientation? it's 2010 NOT 1810. this MUST end

Virginia gov. curtails protections for gay workers
Gays and lesbians in Virginia have lost specific protection from discrimination in the workplace after Gov. Bob McDonnell (R) reissued the state's non-discrimination policy with one group conspicuously absent from the list.

This order is in furtherance of the stated policy enacted by the General Assembly, and specifically prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, sex, color, national origin, religion, age, political affiliation, or against otherwise qualified persons with disabilities.

It didn't take McDonnell long to issue this executive order. He took office Jan. 16 of this year and signed the order less than three weeks later on Feb. 5.

The order rescinds the policy of his predecessor Gov. Tim Kaine, a Democrat who promised to be "fair and inclusive" in his inaugural address and then — as one of his first actions — added veterans and sexual orientation to the state's non-discrimination policy.......

a halfway decent article on foot fetishism

that goes all the way to enforced chastity (which by the way is also a fairly widespread AND POPULAR fetish). as ms parker points out, a fetish (whether it be foot or something else) is NOT uncommon. you know it, i know it. it's just few admit it

there ARE fetishes out there that simply repulse me. there are many that don't. there are some that should be (and are) illegal. there are some that are so mild one would hardly consider it a fetish (unless one KNOWS......).

Feet=Sex? What's Behind the Kinky World of Foot Fetishes

I do not have pretty feet. Maybe cute like a baby duck but not pretty. In fact, since I’m flat-footed, my foot sort of resembles a duck’s especially when I make a foot print fresh from the pool. I don’t take time for pedicures and I walk on hot pavement to the trash can. And he will want to see my feet. That’s because Stan has a foot fetish. We meet in his office in downtown Little Rock. It’s funky with a mod rug and an abstract art. Stan is in his early forties, has two kids, attends church regularly and is happily married. Oh, and he’s a Republican. Before we meet, he tells me via email he wants to be my foot stool. I can honestly say I’ve never once fantasized of being someone’s foot stool. Do my feet stink? I really need a pedicure. For Stan, it’s not just about attractive feet in fishnets or fuck-me heels. No, it’s also about submissiveness. For years, he has IM’d me asking to be my slave and offered to wash my car, clean my yard, polish my boots. Anything. So far, I’ve always said no. On this afternoon, he offers me wine. We’ve known each other for many years, and the chit chat turns to mutual friends, work, family. He plays some background music. Some crooner I’m unaware of – maybe Michael Buble?........

Typical anti-abortion hypocrisy:

1. Don't care much about the poverty of living black children

2. Don't care much about providing assistance to black communities of living people

3. Deny proper health care for living black women

4. But, have no problem exploiting unborn black children in a racist ad campaign.................

Conservatives to honor alleged felon James O'Keefe at event

WASHINGTON -- XPAC: It's like CPAC but way, way funner and cooler. Oh, and it'll also be Epic. Well, that's what they want you to believe.

Adding some entertainment to this week's annual Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington, D.C. is the first ever Xtreme Politically Active Conservatives (XPAC) lounge, hosted by staunch Christian Republican Stephen Baldwin and conservative writer Kevin McCullough. Fox News will broadcast the event and is listed as a sponsor.

Baldwin, who acted in the popular film The Usual Suspects, is the younger brother of famed Hollywood star Alec Baldwin. Now, he's helping create the "generation next" of conservative activists.

The official Web site description reads, "If you love CPAC for the speeches and information, you’ll love the XPAC Lounge for the pop culture personalities, entertainment, music and laid back programming that brings a whole new experience to CPAC!"........

NH lawmaker claims children ’subjected’ to anal sex lessons in school
By Stephen C. Webster

New Hampshire State Representative Nancy Elliott just became a blog superstar for all the wrong reasons.

Elliott, a Republican and member of the state's judiciary committee, thinks that because New Hampshire allows gay marriage, children in schools are now being "subjected" to lessons on how best to penetrate members of the same sex.

She even went so far as to level such an allegation during a recent hearing on a bill to repeal the state's marriage equality law, much to the confusion of school officials who vehemently denied her claims.

"I heard yesterday from a mother that in fifth grade in Nashua, they were given as part of their classroom instruction naked pictures of two men showing a presentation of anal sex," she said during a recent session, according to New Hampshire newspaper The Nashua Telegraph.

"This is directly to the bill," she continued. "Because we have made a marriage of same sex, they are now teaching it in public school. They are showing our fifth-graders how they can actually perform this kind of sex and they are condoning, they are saying this is normal and this is something that you may want to try.".........

FINALIST: M.C. Escher's "RelativiPeep" by Mark Rivetti, Silver Spring. The diorama harnessed the multicolored dynamism of Peeps in the labyrinthine black-and-white geometry of Escher's original work "Relativity." "The most important part of the model was building it to the scale of the bunny," says Rivetti, 25, an architect. See Rivetti's semifinalist diorama from last year here.

FINALIST: Double Peep Strike by Brady Gordon, LeElaine Comer and Justin Donnelly, Washington. Memorializing the "Miracle on the Hudson " water landing of US Airways Flight 1549 in January, the diorama stood out for its craftsmanship and topicality. "We thought it was the most memorable image from the past year," says Gordon, 28, a researcher.
