i WAS a member of PETA years and years and years ago

i gave up my membership because they started pissing me off more and more. i didn't like their tactics and i didn't like some of their ummmmmmmmmmm shall we say 'untruths' or not sharing of the WHOLE truth.

of late they have been objectifying women (just one of MANY violations in my opinion). it's ugly.

this latest ad IS VERY ugly AND it's VERY unforgivable:

PETA's New "Save The Whales" Billboard Takes Aim At Fat Women

Huffington Post | Katherine Goldstein

PETA's new billboard campaign in Florida is raising eyebrows and ire among women and health groups. A drawing on billboards in Jacksonville depicts an obese woman with the phrase, "Save The Whales, Lose The Blubber: Go Vegetarian."

In a press release, PETA stated:

A new PETA billboard campaign that was just launched in Jacksonville reminds people who are struggling to lose weight -- and who want to have enough energy to chase a beach ball -- that going vegetarian can be an effective way to shed those extra pounds that keep them from looking good in a bikini. oh and p.s. i'm a vegan and i'm NOT skinny

i've avoided posting on susan boyle

until now. why now? well i came across an article i could really really really relate to. oh, i watched her youtube video and cried just like everyone else. (i do have a question or two though. why were cameras following her PRIOR to her appearance? i've never seen the show, or american idol for that matter. is the camera following contestants normal? hmmmmmmm, i sort of wonder)

anyway, i know what it's like to be laughed at so this hit home for me. i look 'different'. i'm NEVER going to be an ivory snow grrrl OR the grrrl next door. i wear too much makeup, i have too much ink, i have too much silver, i speak my mind, i dance if i want to dance, my clothing is 'eccentric'. oh AND I CAN'T SING WORTH A HILL OF BEANS (not to worry, that does NOT stop me)

What if Susan Boyle Couldn't Sing?

Like millions of viewers, I was thrilled and moved when 47-year-old Susan Boyle wowed the judges and audience on Britain's Got Talent with her superb singing. As everyone knows by now, the unmarried, "never been kissed" woman from a small village was greeted by both the audience and the talent show's judges with derision when she first took the stage. Looking matronly in her somewhat frumpy dress and unkempt hair, her appearance initially elicited smug, condescending and even cruel smirks, smiles and chuckles. What could this "un-cool," plain-spoken woman have to offer? What right did she have to share the stage with all those young, pretty, talented people?......

.............

But I can't help wondering, what would have been the reaction if Susan Boyle couldn't sing?

What would the judges and the audience have thought, and said, had her voice been a creaky rasp, or an out-of-tune shriek? Would she still possess that "inner beauty?"............

i'm guessing it is because it features sponge bob. oh yeah, IT ALSO FEATURES WOMEN SHAKING THEIR BOOTIES. baby got back

it's weird, it's stupid, it's inappropriate for kids, it's insulting and IT'S FUCKING SEXIST

i can't give up burger king since i'm a vegan and i gave it up a LONGGGGGGGGGGG time ago. i CAN ask everyone who reads this to think twice about frequenting bk though. (that dude is really really really creepy)

Meghan McCain tells critics: 'Kiss my fat ass'

Rachel Oswald
After a parade of insults from conservative pundits -- most particularly conservative radio host Laura Ingraham, who called her fat -- the daughter of Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) delivered a smarting rebuke on Monday's View.

McCain, called Ingraham's comments "terrible," adding, "When Tyra Banks went on her show in a bathing suit and said 'kiss my fat ass,' that's what I feel like. Kiss my fat ass!"
Meghan McCain's recent criticisms of Ann Coulter as "offensive" and "radical" haven't made her any friends among other female conservative pundits who have by turns criticized her weight and her lack of "fixed ideological principles."

Laura Ingraham mocked McCain's weight and called her "just another valley girl gone awry" on her radio show. Think Progress has the audio of that here......
