here's the deal

from what i understand it is NOT sexual harassment unless one of the parties was unwilling, felt their person or their job was threatened, or in some way shape or form, had no choice in the matter.


i have railed against politicians and clergy for having affairs. NOT because of the affair per se, BUT because these very same clergy and politicians have spoken out against same sex marriage, homosexuality, other religions, comprehensive sex education, women AND/OR spoken of the SANCTITY OF MARRIAGE. i don't give a flying yoo hoo, who boinks who, when how or why (in general of course. there are exceptions). i DO give a flying yoo hoo about the holier than thou preachers and conservative evangelicals (of EVERY religion) who judge others but are fucking everything in sight.

that said, letterman's affair(s) don't bother me in the least. he has never said he's better than anyone else. he's never said god said no birth control. god said women are a lesser being. god said no same sex marriage. god said this or god said that. letterman is one of us. no better no worse.

there IS no issue unless as i said, the woman/women who he 'was with' didn't want to be WITH HIM.

that all said, i do have to admit i've always loved letterman. never liked carson, never liked leno and i sure as shite can't stand conan (he just creeps me out). letterman can be silly but he is THE most innovative, witty and cerebral one out there

For the intensely private Mr. Letterman, the revelations, which resulted from a bizarre extortion attempt, are sure to be extremely embarrassing, especially as he tries to extend his lead in the late-night contest. ”I have had sex with women who work for me on this show,” he told his audience on Thursday night, calling himself “creepy.” He added that he hoped “to protect my job.”

More seriously, they raised questions for both his company and CBS about whether his actions constituted sexual harassment or at least abuse of a power relationship over employees. .........

When it was announced last week that CBS News had hired Jeff Ballabon as a senior vice president for communications, with responsibility for "all media relations and public affairs," there were scattered complaints about Ballabon's extreme conservatism and apparent bias against Democrats.

One blogger at Huffington Post, Ira Forman, recalled that when he debated Ballabon a decade ago, "Ballabon claimed that, after his most recent job in Washington, he became convinced that Democrats are inherently bad people and Republicans are fundamentally good people."

House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers Jr. (D-Mich.) on Wednesday released an interview with GOP lawyer Dana Jill Simpson implicating former White House adviser Karl Rove in the prosecution and conviction of former Alabama Gov. Don Siegelman (D) on corruption charges. In a closed-door interview with committee staff, Simpson recalled how Rob Riley, current Gov. Bob Riley’s (R) son, told her about Rove’s role in a plan to prosecute Siegelman if he did not back down from contesting the 2001 gubernatorial election results that handed the office to Riley.
According to the transcript, Simpson described a 2005 conversation with Rob Riley, who told her that Rove had contacted the Public Integrity Section of the Department of Justice to press for further prosecution of Siegelman. She said Rob Riley also recounted how the case would be assigned to a federal judge who “hated” Siegelman and would “hang Don Siegelman.” ......

Well folks, seems that 60 Minutes is postponing (read "killing") its Siegelman story. The excuse I am told for this lapse in ethics is that the network needs more time to vet the whistle-blower, Dana Jill Simpson. You see, the reason the network suddenly needs more time to vet Simpson is that the White House has launched a direct campaign inside CBS to discredit her and just to make sure the dirt sticks, they have called in some favors too. I am told that Senator Jeff Sessions has been instructed to help the White House discredit Simpson as part of his "Senatorial" duties. Nice system of government we have here, eh? ........

When the president and Karl Rove delivered brief statements at the White House yesterday, reporters were not allowed to ask questions. One spoke up anyway.
As Karl Rove embraced President Bush today following an emotional farewell announcement on the South Lawn, the solemnity of the moment was shattered by Bill Plante of CBS, who bellowed to Bush: “If he’s so smart, how come you lost Congress?”
Now, I consider myself a fairly polite guy, and if the president had just made a statement regarding something truly solemn — about, for example, war casualties — I can understand reporters showing some restraint. Under truly somber circumstances, the press corps almost certainly shouldn’t shout cheeky questions.
But Karl Rove is a controversial, nearly-indicted, currently-subpoenaed political advisor. His departure is not “solemn.” The White House seems to have trained much of the press corps not to disrupt the president’s preferred media dynamic — reporters are to spoken to, not heard from — but why should they play along? What’s so awful about Plante trying to get a response from officials after public remarks at the White House?...............

yesterday, i was minding my own bid-nez (as i am KNOWN for doing). i was at the half door having a beverage and talking to my friend cathy. another friend, jack walked in. without missing a beat HE asked ME how i felt about the craggy faced vitriolic asswipe. i was NOT going to discuss that subject in public. i felt so strongly and had nothing but contempt for the craggy faced one. well i just let loose. jack said he listened to the craggy faced one and didn't really think what he said was so outrageous. i then said to jack, ok fine but remember your daughter has skin that is one shade darker than yours. jack said what the hell does that mean. another patron spoke up and said, she (meaning me) means WHAT IF IMUS WAS TALKING ABOUT YOUR DAUGHTER? jack shut up then

what imus said (this time) wasn't the MOST horrid thing he has said. it wasn't. i have heard him say worse (well read quotes of what he has said since i don't listen to him). he IS racist. he IS homophobic. he IS misogynistic. it WAS the RIGHT THING to do to get rid of him. he NEVER should have been on the air to begin with. it never should have gotten this far. when i read the list of who has been on his show it shocked me. as an example when chris dodd announced his bid for the presidency. person after person on that show. people with 'higher moral values' sat in one of his chairs. as soon as they get up to leave, the craggy faced one and his gang of evil hearts start in on their hate filled speech. i know now even people who claim some type of higher moral character (yeah, you too liebs) give it ALL up for the chance to have themselves heard by the masses.

CBS Radio drops Imus

Effective immediately, CBS Radio has fired radio host Don Imus in the wake of the uproar following a racially charged comment he made on his show April 4th.
CBS Radio first suspended Imus for two weeks after calling the Rutger's women's basketball team "nappy-headed hos" on his radio program.
"Losing Imus will be a financial hit to CBS Radio, which also suffered when shock jock Howard Stern departed for satellite radio early last year. The program is worth about $15 million in annual revenue to CBS, which owns Imus' home radio station, WFAN-AM in New York, and manages Westwood One, the company that syndicates the show across the country," writes CBS News................

but i'm steaming. if it was anyone else, NO suspension, but a FULL TERMINATION.

the man has made racist remarks before. it's nothing new. they won't fire him because he brings them in BIG money (WHY? i have NO idea.)

this craggy ass makes me shiver and NOT in a good way. if i'm not mistaken, several none-too-good stories have turned up about his 'cancer ranch for kids' too. some very credible stories from former employees

i personally do NOT believe for one moment the man is sorry for what he said. he's sorry he got in trouble for it is what he's sorry for. people have said FAR more innocuous things on the air and gotten canned for it. keep that in mind
MSNBC, CBS Radio suspend Imus for two weeks

MSNBC will suspend morning simulcasts of the Imus in the Morning radio program beginning Monday April 16, following a remark made by host Don Imus on the program last Wednesday that has been blasted as racist.
CBS Radio, which airs the program, will also suspend the disc jockey for two weeks.
On last Wednesday's program, Imus referred to the players of the Rutger's women's basketball team as "nappy-headed hos."...............
