are there really more

bigots and homophobes and lunatics and big fat stupidheads and vile soulless evil hatemongers out there than not?

how DO these people get elected in the first place? the ones touting hate and exclusion and the denial of our rights? HOW HOW HOW?

Meet Jeff Wagner

Mr. Wagner, who describes himself as “a farmer and a legislator,” is also a member of the Ohio State Legislature. He’s a Republican who represents Ohio’s District 81, and serves on, among other things, the Local and Municipal Government and Urban Revitalization Committee. He’s a member of the Kiwanis Club and a Boy Scout Merit Badge Counselor.

Oh yes. And he believes loving, same-sex relationships may lead to mental and physical illness.

That’s right: Representative Jeff Wagner of Ohio, presumably elected to represent the views of everyone in his district, is hard-pressed to find anything more dangerous . . . more offensive . . . or more patently unacceptable than, say, giving people a job and a home . . . especially if they’re gay.

A good job and a home of one’s own, of course, is what many people would define as the American dream. But it’s a dream Wagner is determined to deny to LGBT people in Ohio.

In responding to a constituent’s letter about H.B. 502 - the “Equal Housing and Employment Act” currently being considered by the legislature - Wagner “comes undone,” as Wally Lamb might say. .........

His precious Jesus would've been all about kicking gays and lesbians to the curb, denying them jobs and making them paupers. Right?

What was that Sermon on the Mount thing all about?
