This just in: MCSO's fearless leader Sheriff Joe is heading into the desert today to hunt for illegal aliens in the oven-like temperatures. And he's breaking out the big guns, or at least one of them -- a .50 caliber machine gun, in case they run into any of them-thar narco-terrorists.
His latest media advisory, which asks that this info be embargoed till 5 p.m., states that the sheriff's office "will be launching a crime suppression/saturation operation this afternoon in a desolate desert corridor south of Gila Bend."
"Desolate desert corridor"? That's straight out of an episode of Scooby-Doo. Or it would be, were Arpaio not rolling out everything but his tank. (Whatever happened to that, BTW?)

Army reports 32 suicides in June, highest number since early 2009

Washington Post Staff Writer The U.S. Army suffered 32 suicides in June, the highest number for a single month since January 2009, when the suicide rate in the Army began to spike.
The boost in the number of suicides in June was likely driven by the "continued stresses on the force" caused by the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, said Col. Chris Philbrick, the director of the Army's suicide prevention task force. The Army has poured money and other resources into getting a handle on the suicide rate and, until last month, had begun to see some tentative signs that the rate was trending downward among active-duty troops...................

VATICAN CITY — The Vatican issued revisions to its internal laws on Thursday making it easier to discipline sex-abuser priests, but caused confusion by also stating that ordaining women as priests was as grave an offense as pedophilia.
The decision to link the issues appears to reflect the determination of embattled Vatican leaders to resist any suggestion that pedophilia within the priesthood can be addressed by ending the celibacy requirement or by allowing women to become priests.

In attack on Christian philosophy, Glenn Beck sides with Nazi propaganda
Fox News personality Glenn Beck believes the Jews murdered the biblical messiah Jesus Christ, and Gosh Darn It, if the Christian savior had been more like Barack Obama he'd have "come back and made the Jews pay for what they did."
That's just the tip of a bizarre rant recently aired by News Corporation, which featured the chalkboard-handy host once again assailing Christian social justice efforts, which many faithful see as core to their sacrament. In the process, however, Beck revealed what one prominent reverend called a fundamental "misunderstanding" of scripture, as well as an apparent detachment from the English language when it comes to the word "victim."
First of all, as the story goes, Jews did not kill Jesus. The Roman empire had him executed after Jewish religious leaders became worked into a frenzy over his ideas - or so the New Testament claims. Armed Roman guards allegedly beat and lashed him, then hung him on a cross until death............

Women in skirts have been banned from pick-your-own strawberry fields in Austria by farmers after complaints that their nether regions were coming into contact with the fruit as they squatted down. Farmer Reinhard Pirbauer said: “When the women in skirts squat down they often hover over the plants which then touch them under the skirt. It is “unhygienic”, nobody wants their strawberries handled in this way. “We have had complaints that fruit was being contaminated. No-one wants to pick strawberries that a woman has been sitting on. Some female underwear is almost non existent – if they wear any at all. “People had stopped coming because of this, but our regular customers have returned since introducing the new rules.” Disgusted Piribauer – who introduced the skirt ban on his ten pick-your-own strawberry fields just south of the Austrian capital Vienna – added that even women with longer skirts were affected by the ban because they would often hike the skirts up in order to squat down and also ended up contaminating his fruit. One women’s rights group has branded the decision ridiculous but lawyers said he and other farmers who had copied the ban could not be prosecuted because they had not specifically banned women — only people wearing skirts and that women in trousers were welcome...............

Limbaugh Uses Steinbrenner's Death As An Opportunity For Race-Baiting
With the death of legendary New York Yankees owner George Steinbrenner today, Limbaugh had what he must have thought was the perfect opportunity to open his show with a little good old-fashioned race-baiting, saying that Steinbrenner -- "that cracker," as Limbaugh called him -- "made a lot of African-American millionaires." Limbaugh later stated that Steinbrenner "knew when to die," because there is currently no estate tax. He went on to read a couple of Washington Post stories about bad news for President Obama and declare that the newspaper needs "a suicide watch" in its newsroom. Eventually, Limbaugh got around to explaining how liberals were just like "Muslim extremists" -- liberals apparently "want to be told how to live," too.....
